Dr. Matt- but you can call him Dr. Schoenfeld- he is the bestest. Staff here has been nothing but kinds, patient and understanding, always get me my appointments when needed and when I have questions on tests that are needed or on results, they get back to me right away. I can wait about 15-20 minutes tops, but they get me in, I see Dr. Matt and I am on my way. This office is closest to my work so they know I need the earliest or latest appointment time. I go to the Neptune office for certain tests and when I have to be at the hospital. So, they have saved my life as a whole on more than one occasion and I won't go anywhere else. read more

Had a scheduled echocardiogram on 7/22/26. I arrived 20 minutes early and did the pre-registration days before. They still took me 15 minutes late. The echo room is a congested disorderly mess. The room reeked of fried chicken, low and behold there was a take out container of fried chicken on the table in the exam room! I was instructed to strip off my shirt and did so. Looking for a place to hang my shirt there are no hooks, no coat rack, nothing. So I neatly hang it from the back of a chair. When the technician returned she told me to lay on the exam table on my left side. As I did that she removed my shirt from the back of the chair and threw it on a pile of stuff on the other side of the room. Now, we don't go to the doctors for the social aspect and I don't expect it, but no introduction, no hello, just direction. OK so let's talk about the exam table... Like all exam tables I have ever been on, it had the top tissue layer. That's great, hygienic, except his layer of tissue clearly had not been changed in a long time. It looked like an unmade bed, all twisted and hanging off the exam table. When you ask patients to lay down on this and they are naked from the waist up, the patient has the right to expect that at a doctors office hygiene would be a priority. Not here! OK, so laying on used tissue, in a room that reeks of fried chicken and a technician with zero bedside manner. When she was done she said," here is some napkins", she then walked out. No direction, no indication what was next, or a simple were done here, she just walked out. So, I am convinced the only interest in me as a patient is, I am alive and have good insurance. Very disappointing experience, very tired, worn, dirty looking waiting room, and of course the exam room was no better, but worst of all is the robotic, cold, non-empathetic attitude of the technician, she needs to find a new career. Such terrible care. Doctors are top notch. But front office terrible. Call for a prescription renewal. Only voice mail. You may hear back in a week or two even if you are completely out of your drugs. Doesn't matter if you have a good doctor. It's extremely disheartening that not one, but multiple offices can act in such an unprofessional manner. As one of the larger cardiologist groups in NJ, their physicians are INCREDIBLE! As a former HMH employee, and a current Director of Nursing, it's an absolute disgrace dealing with ANY of the office staff. I've contacted the offices from a professional standpoint as a nurse, and as the caregiver to my Mom. One interaction was worse than the other! I'm baffled as to how these practices stay afloat. Even upon check-in the staff all look miserable. I've been to 3 of the offices and one has been worse than the other. The staff is condescending and belittling. Never in my 13 years as a nurse have I had an actual argument with MULTIPLE staff members. They are inefficient, incompetent, and outright disrespectful. I'm a 35 year old new mom who was told by her general physician to go to the heart doctor. Luckily all ended up being good health wise but it's a very scary thing to go through. It looks months to make 3 appointments with never any explanation on why I really needed the MRI or anything. The last of which was just to get results. Nothing else. I had to drive 2 hours for this one. I had to pay a lot for this visit. The nurses from the beginning said I had to be there and even my regular doctor said its better to go to be safe then when I get there they are all saying why did I travel so far for this? They also had me take a picture of the results with my phone. They are so technologically slow I have to always pay my bills via phone if they even pick up. I NEVER complain and actually enjoy writing great reviews but just so fed up! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

Very unprofessional and unorganized staff and long wait times. My preregistration information I filled out was missing when I went in and they didn't really care that I had to fill everything out again. As I stood at the window I saw staff on their cellphone as the office phone was ringing, that explains my long phone wait times for my following visits. It looks as though all front office staff is new, professional and effective! I waited about 20 minutes to be ushered into a room where I got an EKG and had my BP taken by a personable and capable assistant (so sorry I did not catch, or remember, her name.) Dr. Schoenfeld appeared within 5 minutes after that and discussed all angles of my issue and provided an alternate course of treatment. I trust this man with my life :-) and he always takes the time to explain his stance and respond to my questions or reservations. All in all, it was a good, productive visit! read more

I am VERY frustrated with the lack of immediate response by the front desk staff, or at least the staff assigned to the task of prescription refill requests. I have placed two calls in the past two weeks requesting the prescription refills be sent to Optum. And Optum contacts me saying no refill orders have been sent. They contacted me again yesterday. This is a recurring problem, it has happened several times in the past year. Is the front desk staff so incompetent, or do they just not care about the patients the doctors work so hard to ensure their well being. One call might be overlooked, it happens, it's an extremely busy office. But twice? That's unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

If I could give them no stars I would! This is the worst office staff I have ever dealt with in my entire 64 years! Extremely unorganized, they answer the phone immediately say please hold, for them to forget about you and the phone rings again 5 times on hold for 25 minute! When you leave a message on recorder nobody ever gets back to you! I ask to have the doctor call me and like always no call back! I have been trying to get a prescription filled for 5 months and they keep making mistakes causing me to not be able to get my heart medication! I found their offices are very depressing, in the manahawkin office is crowed and their are long waits. your in and out in 10 min. I did not feel safe or listened to. I had the misfortune to see Dr Chu earlier this week and ran away screaming. I needed clearance for surgery and assumed he would review the EKG (normal) that was done by the medical center as part of Preadmission testing, five days prior to my SHG appointment. Instead SHG did another EKG with a result of borderline. One would think he might wonder why the difference, and would ask appropriate questions to get to the bottom of the discrepancy. But no, he was not at all interested in that pursuit. Instead, he scheduled me for an unnecessary and very expensive test (at SHG, of course) and further threatened to place a stent in my heart. I have since learned that the second EKG was most likely adversely impacted by the three alcoholic beverages I consumed with my lunch. DUH! Goodbye and good riddance, Doc. Zero stars should be an option. Update: One week after my visit with Dr Chu, I obtained cardiac clearance for surgery from another cardiologist. Yay! read more

I will not recommend this group, especially Dr. Chu. I work for my husbands primary, so I have some understanding of the medical field. He dismissed the questions that I had and wouldn't even acknowledge me. We were to get scheduled for a cardiac cath. Three weeks later, still no call back (after leaving multiple messages). At this point, we couldn't wait any longer as he was getting worse. Went to Deborah Heart & Lung and within 2-3 weeks all consults, tests and surgery were scheduled and taken care of. The surgeon at Deborah said he didn't know how he was still walking. I will say, Dr. Gill was awesome. Very hard to schedule an appointment with him though. read more

If you have a serious episode in another state (Fla), does that automaticly remove them from any concern or interest in their patient,? This would be a snowbird situation. Sadly I can not say anything good about shore heart group. Because of my insurance they would not let me see a doctor I had to see the PA Haroon. He (Haroon) is very dismissive and completely ignored me during a stress test when I was in distress. The tech taking my blood pressure during the stress test did not have the bell of the stethoscope touching me (there was no way she was actually taking my blood pressure) Unfortunately that is not the worst thing about this group. I need a stent and the staff, to schedule the procedure, is rude and uncaring. During my catherization to diagnose my blockage I mentioned to the doctor the difficulty with the staff and he apologized but did not seem to care. The staff at a doctor's office is what patients deal with most and for the doctors to allow their staff to treat people like garbage is very difficult for me to understand unless they too do not care. I care for my sister full time at home and need time to make arrangements for her if I can not be with her, the scheduling staff did not care and would not help me. I have to see another cardiologist which means my procedure will be delayed but I can not trust shore heart group with my heart and my life. I made an appointment to see Dr. Aaron on 12/13/2021. The young woman who helped me was considerate and kind, Carolyn. She sent me the "new patient" forms immediately. I filled out the forms and sent them to the doctor's office on 12/27/2021. My appointment was for 01/17/2022. I proceeded to the office only to be told they did not have my information. I saved them in my email but the office staff said I would have to fill them out again on hard copies. No help to print them. No help at all. I told them when they had my information to call me I would be back. No call. I left and found another doctor with a competent staff. As a senior I see more doctors than ever before. I don't think doctors office's realize how tedious this is to sit in their offices and fill out this information over and over again. submitting these forms over the internet is great. I can't imagine how many new patients a doctor's office see everyday but how hard is it for a staff member to check to see if all information is included in the new patients file. This is not about the doctor(s) but the receptionists/office staff. The office staff was heartless (no pun intended) and hurtful to me today when I was in need of assistance. I had heart surgery 6 weeks ago and needed help with a medication and I was asked sarcastically if I was an opioid addict (I am not in any way, just hurting after a major heart surgery!!?) and I was left without proper medication. The doctor had already prescribed me a pain medication, she just prescribed the wrong one and the one she prescribed wasn't working. I tried to calmly explain myself and the situation and how they could help and I was humiliated. As a major cardiology group they should know how to deal with post-op patients. Also by one receptionist I was told my cardiologist was "in the middle of doing surgery" and couldn't reach out to me. The next one told me it was her day off so she couldn't call. I was told another doctor would look at my situation and then told that wasn't possible. I don't even know what to think. I'm sitting here with bad chest pain and have been crying all day because of the way I was spoken to. With proper help from the office staff and the doctors this entire day could have been different. Believe me, I have a heart condition and just had surgery so I have dealt with dozens of doctors offices over the past year and a half...never felt as disrespected and hurt as here. I'll be returning for a test in a few weeks because I liked the past two appointments I had with the doctor I've been seeing there. But office staff will not treat you like a human. Obviously not speaking for all of them - but it was three separate people from the receptionist team/medical assistant team that were hurtful and potentially dangerous. read more

I started with doctor chu, who put me on a few different meds, then after another visit Perscribed me plavix and told me not to take 81.g asprin abd i was at risk for congestive heart failure. i then was switched to dr yang to do a stenting and told im not at risk for congestive heart failure and i should have never stopped taking the asprin.. then i got for a follow up appt friday as i enter an check in receptionist asks me if i would like to make a payment towards some outstanding 200 dollar balance for 2018.. couldn't give me an explanation of what it was only could tell me it must have been something ins co didn't pay.. i said i would look in to it and find out y ins co isnt paying.. They told me make a payment or ur not seeing doctor u have to reschedule.. Now as stated earlier i was there to discuss results of nuclear stress test and ekg . and they tell me i cant see doc cause of some 200 balance from 2yrs ago.. I have had TWO nuclear stress tests scheduled in Toms River office then later canceled (one without notice) due to Technician not being available. Shore Heart Group has many cardiologists with many patients requiring important tests regarding their health. Having such tests cancelled due to ONE technician not being available shows a lack of adequate staffing to support patient needs. read more
