In addition to having the ability to walk across a gorgeous campus, there is access to a local rail-trail. The professors, both tenured and adjuncts, at the university care about sharing their knowledge with students while encouraging class discussions. If a student needs extra help, professors go out of their way to be helpful and the tutoring center is a great resource. I found the student body to be welcoming, friendly, and passionate about learning. There are a number of student organizations on campus and activities to participate in. For example, I co-hosted a radio program on campus. There are also interesting lectures that take place on campus. I highly recommend enrolling at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

From treeology (the study of trees obviously!), to wading into the bay to catch fish, there's something for everyone. If you're more inclined to sit back and watch, the beach is beautiful, and there are great bridges for bird watching. The architecture on the property is also great. Huge mansions and such. I've never taken a class at the Oakdale campus, but my biology class took a field trip there and it was amazing. Just remember, if you're going from the city - traffic can be a ... your mom!

The beach nearby and plenty of activities is a good start. The actual campus was much more scenic than I thought. Very impressive. The professors and students that we met on the visit were all very nice and informative. The students seemed to be happy to be attending the university and had seemed eager to promote the student body and faculty. My daughter would like to major in Marine Biology and both professors we met in that field were great. Made me wish I was going to college listening to them. Both were very knowledgeable and helpful. I would think that the classes they taught would be great. My daughter is still looking but they made a great impression. Definitely have your kid at least give them a look.

It was very enjoyable seeing her emulating the 20th century surrealists ie. Dali and Magritte. Artwork on both floors were displayed and open to the public. One could cycle thru the gallery to view the works of these Seniors. This show exemplified the talent and hard work of the art department at Monmouth University.

I currently have my youngest niece enrolled at Hofstra, who also had her HS graduation here, and my other niece had her college graduation held at Hofstra. I've been to the university several times, for graduation ceremonies, and to help cousins move into their dorms and moving out. The school is very easy to navigate. There's clear signs all throughout, and the parking lots of heavenly lit at night. There's always onsite security cruising around, which is a plus and gives that extra layer of protection that you, and your family who are attending are safe. The events, and student get togethers that I so often hear about are all planned by the student council, and they always seem well organized and though out, and fun might I add! You can always find something going on at the campus, planned and hosted by the students themselves. Emily, loves it here. She's forever ranting and raving about the events, meetings, after school events, bake sales, culture nights etc. All of which she helps to plan as she's the head of the student council. If you're a parent thinking to send your child here to further their education, no need to think twice. It's a great private school. The beautiful and historic Dutch estate has been ranked as a top schools in the US for many years in a row. You and your child will love and appreciate the history Hofstra has.
