This Shoppers is my reliable neighbourhood stop in Cromdale. The Canada Post team -- Chris, Shaheen, and earlier Aftab -- always provide excellent service. The store manager is excellent too!! Kara in Cosmetics is the shining star in my eyes. She's consistently helpful with recommendations and explains products clearly, which is invaluable when there's so much on the shelves and, for seniors, sometimes too much to take in. She has helped me choose many perfect lipsticks -- and even when they're not perfect, they're lovely additions to my growing collection of colours. She also mentioned she enjoys my Google review, which meant a lot to me. The friendly security guard, clean store, good stock, and easy parking make every visit smooth. This is a consistently welcoming and dependable Shoppers and Canada Post location. When the Boardwalk Pharmacy Canada Post shut down, our local PO became this Cromdale location -- a slightly longer walk, not ideal in bad weather, but transit #5 goes right by. The area has FreshCo across the road, plus KFC, CIBC, Shell Gas Station, and more. Parking here is easy peasy, with one entrance only due to the high risk nature of the #YEG #Alberta Avenue area. read more

Needed a couple of things while traveling through Edmonton. Stopped here to pick them up. There was a huge line at the checkout so I tried to use the self checkout. However, one of the items I purchased (maybe it was the Alka Seltzer?) required a human to override something. So a light started flashing and it said "wait for attendant". I got on the long line for the lone cashier and was rung up by that individual before anyone ever showed up to help with the self checkout. Big store, well stocked, lots of options, it's just time consuming to pay. read more

This is the 2-storey Shoppers at City Centre East. I had a basket with less than 10 items when I walked to the cashier by the ground floor mall entrance. There was no line, nobody was behind me, and one person ahead of me was being told by the cashier to go ask someone else a question at the make-up counter. Then it was my turn. I needed an item that only the cashier stocks behind the counter so I wanted to deal with a human being. The cashier wasted time, took my basket to the nearby self check-out, but after misrepresenting what she had by the counter, I realized she didn't have the item, but another cashier on the same floor did. Instead of calling for it, she told me to go to the 101 Street entrance. At first, I thought she was telling me to go buy the item at the other Shoppers at City Centre West across the street, but when I decided to pay for the items in my basket at her till, she refused to serve me and told me to take my basket to the other side of the store (I didn't know there was another cashier on the other side of the store as I thought the cashiers were at the mall entrance where I came in - I'm new to downtown Edmonton). She didn't want to ring up my items and told me to go to the other cashier on the other side of the store. By this time, there was a line-up of about half a dozen people and it was as though I was imposing on her to ring in less than 10 items. When I went to the cashier on the other side of the store (actually Customer Service), there were 3 employees standing around talking, but no customers were there. I went to the counter, asked for the item I needed, and then this employee insisted that I needed to use the self check-out rather than her ringing in anything for me at the counter. There was nobody else there, no line-up behind me in both instances, but staff seem to be getting instructed to force customers to use the self check-out, even though I needed to ask a human being for an item behind the counter in the first place. Staff are almost rudely insisting customers use the self check-outs, contrary to their own interests. In the time it took the Customer Service employee by the 101 Street entrance to grab my basket, move me over to the self check-out, and scan some of my items for me (I'm an older person and there were no other customers), she could have simply rang them all through at her counter. read more

I have only shopped here maybe three times, but it is always a big waste of time. You go to the cash register and they try to send you to the self check-out (which I never use), then have to backtrack back to the regular check-out wasting ten minutes on nothing. Or they send you to makeup, which is equally unhelpful. I shop at a lot of Shoppers at a lot of places across the city and this is undoubtedly the worst Shoppers in the city. Decent place to purchase your necessary beauty items, but be prepared to pay an extra 5 cents for shopping bags. They charge extra for those. I usually buy my headache medicine in Canada because they are more potent than the U.S. They used to be cheaper, but the currency exchange is not too good for Americans. It's more expensive to buy stuff in Canada now if you are using US Dollars. Not their fault, so I have to shop more carefully when I'm out of town. I usually scope the discounted section and purchase the ones that I really need. In a nutshell, I'd buy things here only if it's an emergency and necessary. read more

I love shoppers products but every single time I go for their sale items ..when you get to the cash register they're never on sale. Then after calling the consultant over, they let you know the 20 sale stickers were for everything else , except the one you picked! every ..single ..time. If you don't have a microscope, you could never see which is the sale item. This is not a one off..it's every time. It shouldn't be that difficult to label the products in an orderly fashion. Makes you feel like a funny when you debate this at the point of sale. I always end up spending much more because of this. read more

There was 0 reason to even watch us we have more than enough money to pay for our stuff. We dropped it all and said yano what this is insane. We are people who talk to one another. We are friends. Is it possible for two Shoppers Drug Mart stores to coexist in only a one-minute walk one another? The answer is yes. This used to be a Value Drug Mart, and I was puzzled, when it changed to a Shoppers Drug Mart, since there is another one right next door in the adjoining mall. This Shoppers Drug Mart though is different though. It's just like a regular Shoppers with a nice beauty department and pharmacy, but there is also quite a large food section here. You'll find fresh bread, packaged foods, many aisles of snacks, and a large selection of frozen foods. I like that they offer many organic and gluten-free items for reasonable prices. This Shoppers especially comes in handy, when I'm going to a movie downtown. I come here and buy lots of goodies to stuff my purse with, so I don't have to buy anything at the theatre. Even though there is another Shoppers Drug Mart lurking nearby, this store still seems to be bustling with people. read more

When I used to work downtown I visited this Shoppers Drug Mart a lot. I usually would browse the magazines if I needed to kill time. Shoppers is good for a lot more than that though. They have most of your household needs like toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, a pharmacy and much much more. This particular shoppers offers more than the average one. I was surprised when I saw a food section. My favorite thing about it is they sell Slurpee's! During my breaks I would always rush here to get myself a coke Slurpee. So delicious. read more

There are 2 Shoppers drug mart locations in city centre. This one has more food items. Small frozen section, eggs, milk and dry food. Not a big selection but awesome if you are downtown and out of something. This location also has a post office. Just like the other shoppers in city centre the busy times are usually during lunch and around 5-6 when the offices around close. Line ups can be big during those times. But pretty mellow on weekends! read more

This review is about the Travel Clinic at the pharmacy in the larger of the two shoppers drugmarts in city centre. (It's the one with the post office - the east side of city centre) The Pharmacist is excellent here. This is the second time I've used this travel clinic and she is very knowledgeable and helpful. Last time I was heading to South Africa and she offered me everything I could possibly need while there, this time for the Philippines was no different. But she also didn't give me anything unnecessarily. She looked up the exact area Im heading to and advised accordingly. I've now left a second time feeling at ease that I'm fully covered health wise for my trip. As a note this is a walk in clinic although you can make appointments. Just call first to make sure the pharmacist who give the vaccines is in. I highly recommend going here if you have a trip coming up. read more

I am not a huge shoppers fan in general but the shoppers on the bottom level of city center has longer lines and poor customer service so if I desperately need a drug store item I pick the lesser of the two evils and come here. There is no freezer food but they still have a decent selection of canned,dry,and snacky foods. They also have a much nicer seasonal and cosmetics section. There are few places that you can get in and out of in city center mall totally painlessly (especially around lunchtime) but this shoppers is alot more customer focused and the staff seem better trained then downstairs. read more

Shoppers is another place that's great for those quick errands you need to take care of during the work day or just when you're passing by. I particularly like the beauty counter they have at this location because they have excellent customer service. One of the girls, Angela, really helped me out when I was clueless about buying makeup for my wedding. She took me under her wing and helped me pick out the right products by testing them out with a quick makeover. I learned some bonus makeup tips from her too. She wasn't pushy and didn't pressure or rush me into buying anything at all. I know I could get the same products somewhere else, but the customer service here makes it worthwhile to come back. I don't know what to say about this shoppers. I have never been more frustrated in a store. The post office employes have absolutely no idea what they are doing, the other staff stay behind the counter. This is a problem because it's impossible to find anything. The layout is a disaster ... though they may have done the best they could with the space provided. I can't stand this shoppers, I much prefer the other location in the mall. read more

The only Shoppers Drug Mart I visit is the one located in City Centre. Inside this Shoppers' location there is a beauty boutique where you can buy hard to find brands such as Nuxe and Kibio. If it wasn't for the beauty boutique, I would visit Shoppers Drug Mart even less often than I do now, because in reality it is just an overpriced drug store. I did price comparison and discovered that Shoppers charges more for such mundane things as toothpaste, hair color and razors than stores like London Drugs and Rexall Pharmacy. The only thing that positively distinguishes Shoppers from other drug stores is that here you can find cosmetic brands not sold at other places. That and the fact that several Shoppers Drug Marts in the city are open 24 hours a day which is convenient in case of emergencies. read more

The store generally offers a good experience. However, the photo printing department does not have the most friendly server. I printed my photo on the self-service machine and asked for a quick cut but was refused for reason "it's only a 30 cents photo and is not worth my time to cut it. To cut it it's $2.00". WOW, comon, it's a job literally worth 5 seconds and the guy there didn't look busy at all plus the cutter is just beside him with an arm reach. If you would like to have your photos printed, I do not recommend this store. Other places print it at the same price (or even lower) and at the same time a friendly experience. read more
