They have a whole fridge dedicated mostly to tofu, with 1 kg costing you only 2.50, which is miles cheaper than most supermarkets/health shops! The staff are really friendly & helpful too. In this case I had a real reason to visit, I have twigged that I don't need to spend a small fortune in Tesco (or Dunnes or M&S or wherever) buying spices and condiments. I go here to get things like cracked black pepper - about 4 Euro for a small jar in the supermarkets, I paid 1.25 here for twice as much, oh happy me! The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful and thought I was very funny for some reason, cant' imagine why!

Sari sari in fact means 'variety' in Tagalog and usually denotes a sort of Philipino convenience store. This little shop does just that. It's specilases in foods from the Phillipines with a few other Asian items thrown in. As Q pointed out they've got prices that are a lot more reasonable than your bigger chain food stores and a nicer variety of spices as well!

Well, that and I had 14 minutes to kill before the next Luas... Instead of wasting your money on a cheap takeaway, find the recipe of your favourite dish online (i.e. black bean rice) and go to the Emporium to get the ingredients. You can later spend the money that you saved on beer. Even if you're completely useless in the kitchen, you can still shop here. They have a new deli counter where I spotted a tasty roasted duck and on the other side of the shop, there's a fridge full of fizzy Korean drinks. Part of the fun is guessing what items are. We were running out of time on our hunt to find them when I realized, 'I've got my trusty guidebook!!' And that's how we ended up here. It was 12 Euros for 6 oysters and a glass of wine. Since there were four of us, the lady was nice enough to give us 4 cups of wine (yes, plastic cups - it's a farmer's market, what do you expect!) They even threw in an extra oyster! SO FRESH! SO BIG! (cue that's-what-she-said joke). Compared to NYC oysters, these babies looked like they were on steroids! They also have this dipping sauce (had onions and was really vinegar-y, but good. But if you don't like the sour, you should just take the oyster straight.) Didn't eat anything else from other stands because we just had lunch. However, I believe they had shish kebabs, crepes, and bread. Oh and FYI - Sheridans Cheesemongers was there (saw this place on Anthony Bourdain when he went to Dublin so thought this might be worth mentioning). Definitely check out this farmer's market!

The place is good…read more The five stars might be a bit extreme, but they were the only place I could find in Dublin that had barley (like beef and barley soup), and they have soy sauce in liter sizes. It was six euro, I don't know if that was a deal or not, but for as much as I go through soy sauce, it's nice to have a big jug of it around.

I was told there are plenty around, but this is the one I went to closest to the Temple Bar area. They had any and everything you'd imagine from snacks and seasonings to meals and plenty of cookware. I like to try a variety of international snacks whenever I travel out of the country, this time was no different. It's become a satiable and exciting experience for me over the years. Went in today to the Moore Street Mall as my fellow polish friend told me they had great polish…read morefood in there and I'm a fan of polish food. As I went down the escalator, it stunk of some sort of smell I could not describe.. I rolled this off and decided to continue my journey.. as I walked in, I was curious to try their Lithuanian cuisine and had a meal. It was awful.. I couldn't finish it and I knew I'd get food poisoning. Post update, I did. Felt as if people were staring and following me. Felt like I had 10 heads! Went to the polish supermarket was complete and utterly shocking. Rude staff and place stunk of everything under the sun. Won't be going back. Went to a shop filled with designer fakes.. tacky is an understatement. They also sold cheap synthetic wigs. Lady there told me it was real hair. Multiple bugs and spillage across the floor.. people shouting obscenities across the hallway. Felt like I was in a different world. Won't be going back again.
