While this was my first visit to the quaint shop, the ShoeMedic came highly recommended to me. In fact, so highly recommended that I drove from downtown Toronto. I was greeted by the very kind owner who immediately diagnosed the problem with my sandals. Not only did he take care of them quickly, it was so small a job that he didn't even charge me. The sandals look amazing and were restored to their original condition. Various customers came in while I was there and each one of them were taken care of personally and professionally. Always first class work. These gents use old school practices. I've brought many pairs of high end shoes most of which have Goodyear construction. One of the few cobblers that uses upper tier JR leather soles and stitches them. It's a costly service but for anyone looking for impeccable work on $500 plus shoes they are amongst the best in the GTA. For simpler half sole and heel replacement expect the same workmanship for a very fair price. I searched a number of places before choosing Shoe Medic to repair 3 pairs of expensive shoes/boots (Valentino, Freda Salvador, Ferragamo). They placed a rubber sole under the Valentino boots, which will definitely make them last longer. The job was done so well. I am so pleased! They also re-soled the Ferragamo pumps and fixed the bow on the front. They look brand new! I would totally recommend this place and will be going back with other shoes, for sure! read more

I am very unimpressed with the shoe doctor as they ruined my wedding shoes!!! They would not even refund all my money. First I had told them they were my wedding shoes and I wanted them dyed and they did so. I picked them up and had a dress fitting and shoes were bleeding just from some sweat. I would not have been so mad except for the fact I wasn't warned at all (dye and an ivory dress do NOT mix). When I spoke to the staff they said "didn't my associate tell you?" I said "no, I wasn't told anything." Then his story was "oh we just assume the customer wants the cheaper one because satin shoes are one time use." I once again stated they were for my wedding if I had been told I would have paid the extra. So again I left my shoes with them to be sprayed so they would not bleed. So after 2 weeks I return and they brought me my shoes and...what on earth??? They are completely a different colour (not even close to the other dye). I was very upset and I started to ask what had happened. I was then told to come back in an hour when the manager (or so I assume) would be in. So come back and speak with the shoe guy and he starts saying "well the spray didn't work so I use leather dye. Leather dye is only one toned where fabric dye is two toned so you cannot get the same colour." I pointed that is was not close to my colour though, again he said "because the leather dye is one tone..." When I felt the shoe they were stiff and looked fuzzy (which could be seen at an arms length away), they had pilling (like you get on a sweater). Basically my beautiful wedding shoes were garbage. So like anyone would I wanted my money back but he claimed since he had done the work I could not have it back. I explained my side; the wrong colour, didn't agree to the leather dye etc. He came back with well we called you. To this I said "yes you did once and the message said my shoes were ready and to called IF I had any questions and you would go from there". I had saved the message on my cell. He then claim they had phoned more (at least 3 times), so I showed him my call history with just ONE call from them. His retort was "I told them (being his associates) to call you". My response was well they did not. In the end after going back and forth he said he would give me the money back for the shoes (which he would keep) but would not refund the money I spent on the work (because he did it). I pointed out though it wasn't done right, it wasn't what I had asked. So he said he would give me the shoe (which was garbage) and I would not have to pay for the spray. This was ridiculous!!! Seriously ruining my wedding shoes and you are complaining because you spent time doing work (which wasn't right) you should be paid. In the end finally I was able to get the cost of my shoes back and the spray job cost back. That was it though he claimed because I was happy with the first dye job he would not reimburse me. I would have agreed except the fact the dye almost ruined my wedding dress because I was NOT warned and he changed the shoe's colour with the leather dye. If he had just told me the spray did not work I would have taken the shoes as they were (get the money for the spray back, of course) and gone somewhere else to see what could be done. The next day I called a well known shoe repair store in Toronto and he was completely honest with me about fabric dye and that there was no way to make sure the dye would not bleed. He was honest and up front. If the Shoe doctor had been that way I would not have had this problem and have to hunt down another pair of wedding shoes (which took a long time the first time). Overall I did not need this whole problem especially since it could have been avoided. read more

Services there is way overpriced! I had 3 pairs of boots taken in to add rubber soles on in different times and got quoted with 3 different prices, range from $55-70 + tax. He'll look at the boots & see if they are expensive or from designer brand, if they are, he's gonna charge more. There's no standard price chart. He says whatever he likes to charge. There're indeed a lot of rich women who'd bring their shoes/boots there for repair & don't care about the price. I took my boots to another place & this guy charged me for $35 per pair. read more

This is the only place I trust with my shoes. After a pair was ruined due to a bad repair performed elsewhere, I brought the shoe to them. They mocked up a replacement heel for free but weren't at all offended when I opted not to go that direction. They've rebuilt pairs over ten years old like new and provided care tips to allow me to go longer between repairs. For a girl who once wore a hole in my scuff-proof Buster Browns, the life-lengthening they perform on my fancy heels is invaluable. They're not the cheapest, true, but the value they provide is worth every penny as the workmanship and materials used are top of the line. If you have nice shoes, or shoes that used to be nice, bring them there to be nice again. I also recommend their end of winter season boot cleaning to make them look as if they've never seen salt. This place has the worst customer service ever! I brought in a very expensive shoe that was worn once. I asked to have a matching color rubber sole put on. I was told not to worry and shown a sample of a tan color rubber that was close in color that would be used. When I came to pick up my shoes a brown color sole was put on AND the bottom of my shoe was damaged. Looked like knife marks and a stabbing had taken place. When I questioned what happened I was told the damage was there before and it looked like I had scraped it when I wore the shoe previously. And the brown sole he put on was the only close color he had! Seriously?! So upset and shocked I just left. Couldn't believe how rude and defensive he was. And how he had no shame on how he ruined a $1000+ shoes. read more
