I just happened to be passing by the Centre Shoe Clinic and immediately thought about the favourite shoes that I was wearing. Always comfortable flats and stylish. They badly needed new soles and heels. I spoke with Simeon and he promised that he would bring them back to life for me, like new! The problem: I would have to leave them with him for a few days. Given that I didn't live in the area, but know the Centre well, I quickly decided to buy a cheap pair at Winners, and left my shoes to be repaired. Fast forward two days (I left them on Thursday afternoon, and Simieon called me on Saturday to confirm they were ready for pick up). I picked them up on Monday, and was amazed at the rejuvenation of the shoes .... they were really like a newly bought pair of shoes. They were the worth the cost of repair. The workmanship was done with pride. I know that they will last me another 5 years or so! Simieon definitely proved his worth. read more

WARNING! This is by the far the worst place I ever been to in my entire life. I needed my shoes fix and wanted to punch holes in my belt and the person that did it for me made my items worst. I gave him a brand new gucci belt to punch holes in and received it back in worst condition. I don't know what he did to it but the gucci buckle is all scratched up. I am so upset and unhappy with his work. He sounds like he knows what he's doing but WARNING -DO NOT BRING YOUR STUFF HERE UNLESS YOU WANT IT DESTROYED! He told me he cleaned my shoes and is only able to patch up the holes on the heel and paint it to the closes color to the shoe. It looked like my 4 year old niece painted this heel with nail polish. My expectations weren't as high because the heels are pretty worn out. But when I came to pick up the heel, it was in the exact condition I brought it in. I don't think he didn't anything. He stated he did clean my shoes up but clearly doesn't look clean. And if that's him cleaning it ... it made it worst!!! I wasted my money and time for this terrible fraudulent business! read more

Okay, so a few months ago, I had to get copies of keys made. The guy charged me $4.99 for the pair and even let me under pay because I didn't have enough cash on me. This morning, I needed two pairs of copies made and the guy, a different one, charged me $4.99 for *each* key. I paid it because I was in a hurry, but the whole thing seems *extremely* shady to me and I certainly will never return. Why run a business this way? Yes, you make some fast cash but you lose customers in the process. It's silly. read more

FANTASTIC! I needed a couple of extra holes put into a new belt. One phone call, I go there, less than 5 minutes....DONE. I ask how much...."It's ok...no problem!" WHA? "I have to pay you something!" Before he answers, points out that my shoes need a polish....I just wore them outside in the snow a couple of days ago...I agree & he shows me a great polish! I have been using this shoe repair service for at least a decade. Simion has resoled shoes for me, mended ripped belts, but his latest work was brilliant. I found an old leather purse at the back of my closet. I loved this purse, but it had gotten stained in a rain storm, years ago. I didn't want to toss it because it was the perfect purse, right size, right shape. I asked Simion if he could do something to make it look good again. He dyed the purse a beautiful mahogany brown. He brought it back to life and I couldn't be happier. The service was friendly and the price very good. Highly recommend. read more

The owner here is very proud of his work, shown in the arrogant attitude when speaking to customers. Personally, I do not care how good your craftsmanship is if I have to endure poor customer service. I previously had my heels repaired here, and he charged over $20 for an A-OK job. A few days ago, I went to him again to ask for a quote to put on rubber soles under my flats. He refused to give me even a price range, and spoke to me in a manner like he did not care for my business. Another customer brought her shoes back, complaining about the repair job he did, and he argued that it was 'quality' work. His treatment to customers reminds me of the recent meltdown of the owners of Amy's Baking Company, where the customers are always wrong. The customer service here can truly ruin someone's day, and I'm not exaggerating. I will NOT be back. read more

Quality work, patience with clients and pride in workmanship. I took in Avery expensive bag that I had bought second hand. The handle which was hand stitched was coming apart. Simion recognized the quality immediately and suggested a fix that would be both a good solution in appearance and a reasonable price. I am thrilled with the results - he hand-stitched the leather! When I went to pick up the bag, the customer ahead of me asked a great many questions, repeatedly...he responded professionally and with patience. Run. Quick. Any where else. Scene: Took $1K Ferragamos to be steam stretched back to size 11.5. After being in storage for 2 years I thought it was time to reestablish some semblance of panache. Was told it would take 4-5 days. I left them. The Pick-Up: The shoes were paid for in cash. The CC machine was still not working. wink wink. The shoes were handed back will a gash in the toe leather, covered in dust and not stretched at all. The Summation: Petty theft or money laundering pure and simple. They have no intention of doing the work. At least not in this case. I like my country a great deal. And, I respect craftsmanship of any type. These people are not representative of Canadian values and display no care or craftsmanship. Stay away. Avoid the soul sickness that comes with dealing from people like this. I have had a very high quality bag repaired here, as well as a pair of hiking boots that needed completely new leather around the ankles. I have only found them professional and friendly. Simion and Lev have done an OUTSTANDING job on all my repairs, telling me in advance what needs to be done, what may not be possible, and always delivering superb results. I have been bringing my fairly expensive footwear to the Centre Shoe Clinic for a number of years and while the price is a bit on the high end, the workmanship is fantastic. They brought a number of shoes and boots back to life. While their approach may be construed as being on the rough (or rude) side, it is just their way. They are both very sweet and always "offer" the best advice. It is up to me to decide whether I want to take their advice or not. I must admit that sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. My decision is based on price, how expensive the shoes are and how much I love the shoes. This is definitely a case of you get what you pay for. read more

Total rip off. They are pushy, rude and will triple charge you compared to the competition. Two men seem to be in charge of the place. Russian accent, extremely rude. I brought a pair of boots to fixed; the leather had detached from the side zipper and needed to be glued back and stitched. Both men told me the cost of the service would be $50.00, cash only. One of the employees (taller, younger man with a beard) kept pushing to fix the heels and to exchange the soles. I explained the cost of the repair was not worth it considering the price of new booths. Then, both men went on laughing at me saying "She must be in the shoe business, she knows more than we do". Total mockery. I just removed the booth for the counter and walked away. I walked 5 minutes towards the subway line and went to City Shoe Repair. A sweet asian man told me the shoes would take 24 hours to be ready and charged me $14.00. Stay away from this place! read more
