This evening my daughter and I were out and about and in looking for something to keep her interested and out of the house for a change, I figured why not go look around Kohl's?! It turned out to be a great place at 6:00 on a Wednesday evening to teach a toddler how to push a cart around the store! Their carts are different, low to the ground, and manageable for even a smaller toddler like our daughter. A few bumped shelves later, we made it around the entire store without a major incident! I never did find a pair of new dress shoes, but it wasn't even my concern at that point! "Daddy and me" day was another success and we even managed to snag a treat on the way home. Accomplishment, folks!

The bride and her 3 person entourage were escorted to a small dingy dressing room. The consultant would hand us gowns and it was our responsibility to help the bride in/out of gowns. We were told that because of Covid, it was our responsibility to dress the bride. (I am told that other salons do not operate like this.). No reveal for anyone. We did not get any expertise from the consultant regarding the proper silhouette. It was just an assembly line of gowns in and out of the room. It felt like we took a trip to Marshals or Ross to try on wedding dresses!

Even though the place has become a bit more barren, especially with the removal of the kids' arcade games by the main entrance and the recent loss of the candy machines, I still think there's some good left in it. Take my current favorite spot, Raintree Shopping (RS), for example. While at first glance it might look like just another rip-off junk store, there are some amazing gems hidden inside. They sell a super intriguing mix of overstock and off-brand products, usually for dirt cheap. It's the kind of place where you either find really weird stuff, total junk, or absolute gold. Honestly, there's something for everybody in there: For kids: $3 backpack, lunchbox, and pencil case combos featuring popular characters. For tech enthusiasts: Unique charging docks for phones and gaming controllers for under $15. For literally anyone: A goldmine of overstock clothing. Case in point: I recently found brand-name Goodfellow & Co shirts for just 5 bucks, which is a third of what they cost at Target! Plus, their denim section has some surprising finds if you're looking for cheap streetwear basics. While the mall as a whole definitely isn't what it used to be, spots like RS keep it worth making the trip, not to mention that café near Boscov's, which is pretty solid.
