This is our usual Indian Grocery. My husband prefers it because it has a wide variety and it has all the spices and often cooking dahi which we've otherwise had trouble finding. It's well located near downtown Norwood and near other needed shops so it's convenient for running errands. The produce is often cheaper than the supermarket across the street and the red onions are somehow better quality than at the US supermarkets. I come here once a week to stock up on Indian specific groceries which I cannot otherwise find in other supermarkets. The store is big, spacious and very well laid out. You won't find it difficult to navigate through the store since everything is well organized. You'll find all sorts of items from fresh produce, to Indian spices to different types of flours & rice, frozen items and dairy. There's also a few Indian specific items that are hard to find in other stores that you can get here. The prices are comparable to other stores so no surprises here. The staff is friendly and polite and will guide you if you can't find your items. The service is good and if you're in Norwood hunting for Indian groceries then this is the place to shop. read more

This store has incredible variety! I noticed that it is in the category on Yelp of "convenience stores," but it is a complete grocery store with dairy, frozen, fresh veggies, snacks, meals, toiletries such as shampoo and soap, teas, etc, etc. We got candles for Diwali here as well. The prices are terrific, very competitive with bigger Indian grocery stores in greater Boston. I have seen prices much higher within 5 miles. This is my go-to Indian grocery store. Was very happy to come upon this nice store somewhat by accident. Actually drove Nance to Sallys Beauty in the same plaza after we had eaten downtown. I was sitting in the car as I refuse to go into a store like that much like I will sit on a bench outside Victorias Secret at malls. After 5 minutes realizing it would probably be 15 more I got out to stretch my legs and noticed Shiva's sign. I like Indian food especially curry dishes so I walked in. Impressively big, clean and orderly with a long fresh produce isles on the far left. The store is pretty deep so the 5 isles of shelving held tons of cool stuff almost all I had never seen before. I mean a whole row maybe 100 feet of diferent rice's in bulk packaging? Was told they sell to some restaraunts and I do understand that many people eat a lot of rice. I bought a couple packages of powdered turmeric, naan and a fruitcake that looked good. They also had frozen Indian desert treats in a large cooler section but I couldn't read any of the writing on the containers so I passed. Friendly but busy restocking workers and I believe I met the owner who was very nice too. Steady parade of customers coming in to do thier shopping. I imagine some buy all thier groceries here. If your into spices there was a whole row plus more with every kind of spice imaginable in every size package in multiple brands. Must say I enjoyed checking this store out. read more

Don't ever buy spices at your local Shaw's or Stop & Shop. Go here instead! You get a big bag for around $1.50, whereas at the local grocery chains it costs $5.99 or more! (Like McCormick brand and whatnot). Tiny place, but cheap stuff. read more

SHIVA BAZAAR in Norwood, Massachusetts needs to stop selling FAKE and BAD BASMATI RICE. I bought a bag of basmati rice for $39's from them (that rice used to be in a plastic bag inside a Brown bag, but the one that I bought from them was in a white bag inside the Brown bag), I cook a very small portion and I couldn't eat it. I brought the bag back to them, they keep the RICE and the MONEY. They were very nasty with me. Well, that money is not gonna make the rich. My friends told me none of the RICE is good from that SHIVA BAZAAR in Norwood MASSACHUSETTS. read more

This is a neat little Indian market. They carry everything you need for preparing Indian food from Basmati rice to lentils. You can also get all the spices (turmeric, coriander, cumin, cardamom, etc.) and even ghee in a jar. They even have packaged papadum that microwave in a minute. Check out the frozen food section for samosas and chapati. For snacks, they have everything from nuts to bhujia. The only negative is that the produce section is limited and not the best in quality. They pack a lot of products into a relatively small space. read more

This is my favorite grocery store in the area. The produce is very inexpensive. Sure, you have to pick through some, but the price makes the small effort worth it. Prices are very cheap and their groceries seem fresh enough, but the place is too packed and not well laid out. It looks like they got bigger over the years and have crammed everything up in this place which is big enough, but can be set up differently and more neatly. Good variety frozen food and spices. Produce is not of great quality, but dead cheap. Thursday is their delivery day, So on more than one occasion I have found that Monday and Tuesday trips for vegetables is a waste. Try going on Thursday evening or Friday. And they dont accept credit cards for less than $15. read more

I've been a customer of their's for a year, and I *love* their new location. It's at 111 Elliot in a strip mall, not too far from old location. Much bigger, brighter, but same great prices. I've never really bought anything major to eat from here. I mainly buy beauty products, incense, etc., but today I bought curry powders and a green plantain. I plan to go back with my Indian dish recipes to buy all the ingredients! Just giving it 4 stars since I didn't have much of a chance to check everything out today. read more

This store is not only one of the best in quantity / quality / verity and price of products but the staff here is really polite and helpful.

The main drawback to this store is the location as customers need to learn how to drive in one-way parts of the parking lot. They also need to learn how to park. It would help if someone from the store could assist the new customers. There have been too many close calls from cars going the wrong way, blocking cars in by parking wrong and people & children walking in front of moving cars. I visited the store recently did not see anything too exciting. There were a lot of very large bags of stuff that I could not figure out. It would be helpful if some of the items were translated into English so people who are not Indian could buy them. Also, the produce did not look as fresh as in other stores and there was an odor in the air, like old wood. The person working there was very friendly and welcomed me to the store. Only the store is bigger and lot of expired items (e.g Horlicks ect..) and very bad attitude. At the counter even if you say hello or hai... never expect a reply from them... attitude is very very bad. I think this happening only to Indians. I have been there many times over the years. In the past I have overlooked that it looks a little dirty because I enjoy the variety of products and lorikeets to support local business. Last week I purchased a few items. One of the items was a container of coconut oil. This is the first time buying it there. When I opened the sealed container it smelled putrid and the normally white waxy type oil was varying shades of brown. The next day I took it back to the store and even though I had my receipt and paid cash less than 24 hours prior, they would not issue a refund or offer any solution. I was told different brands smell different. I ask how different can 100% coconut oil smell from brand to brand? I'm telling you it was rancid. They handed the oil back to me and said there was nothing wrong with it. I will never set foot in that store again. I would give it negative 5 stars if I could read more
