Or I could have searched Yelp for a noteworthy shaving goods store($$$). Instead, I found a shop where barbers and stylists go to buy their goods en masse. A trading shop per se, with products from all over the world and pricing from cheap to expensive. The shop is setup like those created for merchandisers, shop owners, and those buying in bulk. It's not pretty nor are products setup in a brilliant display. A shop keeper is on hand and not in view when one enters the store. There are racks upon racks with nondescript items piled. Tell the shopkeeper what you're looking for and off you go. So what'd I get? I was shown a number of flat blade razors. Some super cheap, some super pricey and others in-between. He mentioned having the old style and the newer. The older style is a safety razor which is a one-time use blade. Looks easy to use but also seems to be wasteful. I opted for a cheap plastic import which uses disposable blades. I paid about $11 dollars for two items and I have blades that will last me for the next couple years! (Blades used in this sort of shaver are ultra thin and create less waste than what's purchased for say a Gillette or Schick type razor). I'm using Youtube to teach me how to use the blade. The store is very clean, well organized, and all the products look high quality. The first time I went to the location in Glenview , and another time I visited a Naturehub store in woodfield mall . Both experiences were great, but I especially want to thank Natalia and Aly -- they were incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. They took their time to help me choose the perfect skincare products for my mom and explained everything in detail. I never felt rushed at all. Zero problems at the register. Receipt always right. I know EXACTLY what other reviewers are describing, but it's never happened to me at this store. I used to shop here all the time when I lived in Evanston. I started going to another beauty supply store that was closer to two other retail stores I occasionally shop in. But that store needs serious upgrades when it comes to technology and using Google Wallet. After several tries, I gave up and left. I was on my way home to grab my wallet so I could pay the old-fashioned way (even though I never carry cash) and I slowed down next to my old "regular" spot. I walked in. There was a Black woman cashier smiling at me, who was very friendly and professional. My digital wallet worked there. They even charge less. I told her I was going to start coming to this location more often. The only con I have is it really is cramped in the store. They have entirely too many shelves so they can have more inventory. You're definitely not going to walk down the aisle with another person. Someone has to leave for you to walk in. But I pretty much only go in beauty supply stores for facial cleaners, relaxers, eyebrow razors and headwraps. None of those items would make me have to hang around for very long or need a whole lot of assistance. In all of my in-and-out visits, zero problems. There used to be a dark-haired Asian man at the register who was kinda quiet and laidback. Even during the pandemic when the store required ordering online and picking up curbside, he was usually the person who came outside. No issues. I cannot recall one bad incident in several years of going there, so kudos to them.

The wig section was closed off. That should have been our first red flag. The rope was removed for us to enter. As we looked around a lady came over and asked if we needed help. She proceeds to find the first wig for us. We asked to try on and she explained we needed to try on sample. No problem. We asked for a wig cap. She gave. We tried on wig and she gives us instruction on how to essentially not damage the display wig by playing in it....odd, but ok. No problem. We ask for a 2nd wig and we tried on without incident. Wig was a no. Asked for a 3rd option and she proceeds to say that they have a 2 try on policy. It was at that moment that I look at her, looked around the room to see all these rules and policies, and thought to myself, wow....after everything, ya'll still treat us like this? We say no problem, we proceed to walk away and she stops us and makes an 'exception'. We continued our purchase without further incident. I should have walked away. I should have given her this feedback at that very moment. But I know that anti Black hate was learned. And the best way I can make my feedback heard is by posting a review. I will no longer shop here. I will do more intentional research on Black owned supply stores in the area or at the very least, be more mindful of anti Black establishments in Rogers Park.

They have organic lotions, shampoos, deodorants, bath salts, face cremes, foods (some you can find at whole foods, others not, and their selection is minor compared to the beauty products) beauty products for anti-aging and anti-acne. Also they have shapewear, natural hair dye (without all the icky chemicals), detergent (all natural), serums for your hair, spring water facial moisturizers...(Yeah I've been here a lot) I've bought a LOT of stuff here and if you're a member their discounts are major, especially during sales. Member price for a 12.99 set of microwavable/dishwasher safe bowls (which made great gifts) are 6 bucks. I think that's pretty amazing. They're pretty too. And they also have mineral makeup. They carry the brand Wholefood Nutrition...They have sunscreen, powders that prevent alzheimers, assist in diabetes, protect against free radicals, detox, provide natural energy etc... If you want to try any of the products you can, they have a million testers and you can even try out their toothpaste and mouthwash. The special mouthwash they have is crazy. If you use it you can see how much CRAP is actually in your mouth and you spit it out and BAM. It cleans you out so well and it's not all alcoholey. The weirdest but coolest stuff are these glasses of different kinds that you put water in and it's made in a way where it'll give you this positive energy if you drink it. So it's good for your body. They also have pendants and wands you carry with you that do the same thing with the positive energy (all asian stuff obviously) but it's expensive. If you look up about positive energized water and how the molecules look different (overseas in asia they discovered this) the positive energy is effective on a person. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I'd like to think it's for real. AND IF YOU LIKE COFFEE they have plenty. My favorite is the pansy good tasting coffee (White Cappuccino) which comes in instant packets. I JUST bought a new package which has a ton of little packages in it, and I hope not to drink all of it today. It's truly a delicious drink... I don't know what else to say other than go look inside. I wish they got more business because I'm afraid they'll close down from lack of business and then I'll have to order online or find a salesperson haha.
