When we arrived, an employee named Doris Vest was attempting to pronounce my father's name, Berhe, and instead referred to him as "butthead." She claimed she was joking because she couldn't pronounce his name, but I found that comment disrespectful and unprofessional, especially in a healthcare setting where patients should be treated with dignity and respect. I immediately requested a different staff member and was assisted by Bella, who was kind, professional, and completely changed the atmosphere of the visit. I also brought the situation to the attention of Austin and Dr. Maria because I felt it was important for management to be aware of what occurred. While I appreciate Bella's professionalism and the office's willingness to switch staff members, the initial interaction left a very negative impression. Patients should never feel disrespected because of their name or background. I hope the office addresses this issue and provides better customer service training moving forward.

I had a horrible experience with Sampson Dental Group. I…read moreestablished care at their Powell location. I had a cleaning and X-Rays and left with a clean bill of health, nothing unusual. Then a few days later, I started experiencing intense pain from my tooth and my entire right jaw. I've always taken great care of my teeth and dental health, and had no history of this. I contacted Sampson after hours, as they claim many times on their website to offer emergency dental service. I received an email from Sampson saying that there is no way they could be responsible for my pain, even that they hadn't re-examined me. They also refused to be able to see me over the weekend, and said they would do their best for today, Monday. I had to pay out of pocket to see a Virtual Dentist who prescribed me antibiotics and told me I need to get into a dentist right away. I messaged Sampson again with this info, and they still did not help me, and could not confirm an appointment for today. So, I'm done with Sampson and have an appointment with a new dentist today. I have to pay out of pocket, but it's an emergency, and I was able to get in first thing this morning. I also am going to report Sampson to my health insurance provider and the Better Business Bureau. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from Sampson Dental.

The reception staff is very friendly and welcoming at this location as well. That being said, the reason I have given such a low rating is because of the policies in place, specifically the billing department. Keep good records until all claims are settled because if you are owed money from the practice you are in for a significant wait. Other than that it is a great place to be treated.

I recently had my first dental appointment with Dr. David Grammel. As a new patient, I wasn't sure what to expect. Like most people, going to the dentist is not my most favorite thing to do, and I've had experiences in the past where staff can be downright rude. Not so at Canal Family Dentistry. Scheduling an appointment was easy and they were able to get me in in a reasonable amount of time. They even have Saturday appointments, which is super convenient. The front desk staff is very friendly - they knew who I was only after saying I was a new patient. And they seemed to recognize everyone who came through the door and know which doctor they were there to see. I was only there for an evaluation, and Dr. Grammel did an excellent job at describing what he thought my next steps should be. He referred me to an oral surgeon and an orthodontist in the area and was deliberate in explaining why he chose the people he chose. His answers were very helpful, and he was extremely nice throughout the process. No more dental anxiety here! Also, Dr. Grammel is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association and the Columbus Dental Society, for those who care about such things.
