Then Dominic and Vince completed the move from New Castle to Pittsburgh. Each of the men were extraordinarily kind, considerate, thoughtful and efficient. I was especially grateful because I was dealing with the serious illness of a family member at the time of the move and it was a stressful time. I highly recommend Apollo and have told friends and family how very much I appreciated having such a terrific team get me through this difficult move. Many thanks again to each member of the Apollo team that handled the packing/unpacking and this move for me! I am most grateful!

Took two days to pack & load -- did not pay attention to what stayed & what went -as a result lots of thing were brought here that were supposed to stay. Gave all those items to the worker. The manager was not up to the job. He made all the mistakes -- not the workers who worked hard. Packed things that were not supposed to go made the weight go over so had to pay more. The icing on the cake was, I took insurance out, a cellarette was broken, claim was denied because the person processing the claim did not know that the cellarette was wood, layered with gesso - like old picture frames - then painted. She said it was glue without ever looking at it in person. What a joke, would not hire that company again to haul garbage. We treated them quite well, but when push comes to shove, they need a new manager! They are a part of Allied Van Lines. Beware of this outfit! Cost me a small fortune then would not honor a small claim.

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a move. I wanted to make my move from…read morePittsburgh to Alabama as painless as possible, so I figured hiring full service movers to pack and unpack would be nice. I was quoted $10,000 for my 3 bedroom home to be transported. Other companies quoted me from $5,000-$7,500, but David (the estimator) was very nice and convincing that everything would go smoothly, so we splurged. 1. When the packers were packing my house up into boxes, the assistant packer spilled a whole bag of lentils in my basement. He never bothered to tell me and never bothered to clean it up. They also left empty tape rolls and box tops all over my house. They did not clean up after themselves. 2. The movers arrived the next day to load the van. There were four of them, two of them stood around and talked the whole time and barely moved anything. When they felt they had loaded everything, they hurried up and closed the van and didnt even bother to do a walk through to make sure everything was taken. They left two closets fully stocked and we had to throw away an ironing board, shoe racks, and figure out how to transport two bags of the clothing. 3. They advised me of a delivery window of 5 days that my stuff would be delivered and I would know the exact day about 3 days prior. They said the night before my delivery, my driver would contact me to let me know an estimated arrival time. We tried to reach the driver multiple times the entire day before up until 11 pm. I was told he would call by 9 pm. The coordinator tried to reach him multiple times and he wasn't responding to her as well. The next morning at 7 am, the driver texts me to tell me he will be there by 8 am. How unprofessional! He uses having a flat tire as an excuse to not responding the entire day prior. Communication is essential in this business. 4. We had paid for unpacking as well. They said they don't unpack and just put things out of the box and onto a countertop. No thanks! That's not unpacking. 5. Carol, the coordinator for the move, sent me a final price. Then she goes back and changes it to $1,000 more and charges my credit card. When I asked for a detailed invoice, she had to go to the billing department because there wasn't one made. Three days later and two followup emails requesting a detailed invoice later, she calls and asks if the movers unpacked my goods. When I said they didn't, she says invoice should be ready later that day. They sent the invoice the next day and just basically tweaked numbers to justify the amount they arbitrarily charged my credit card without running actual numbers. I sent an email to Carol after the initial packing disaster and she said she would send this to people help resolve the matter, never heard from anyone. I went with this company because of the positive reviews, but I urge others to go with small moving companies that actually care about the clients and not big corporations that don't quality control. I used Moto Movers the year prior from akron to Pittsburgh, and he was amazing, personable, and good. He was willing to do this move, but I thought let me try a bigger company. Learnt my lesson! Most traumatic move of my life, and we move every couple years for my husbands job.

Pros: Very cheap rates, which should have been a warning…read moresign for me. Polite and courteous Very responsive prior to signing contract Cons: Very poor time management: they arrived consistently late on both days we had them scheduled for and the final move, estimated to take about 6 hours, took 14. That's right. Instead of 9 AM to 3 PM as originally planned, they arrived at 10:30 AM and did not leave until after midnight. I will not say they were finished at midnight because they also failed to move all of our things out of our home that we requested. Either desperately understaffed or having very poor understanding of requirements of proposed work; when coming to pack a 2300 sq ft house, they arrived with the owner and his wife as the sole staff to accomplish the job. They estimated they would be done in four hours; 6.5 hours later, they were nowhere near finished but decided they were done for the day. They returned the next day with a ten foot box truck, the owner, and two other people to move our things from one three story house into another, larger one. Bear in mind they had not even started disassembling our multiple bedframes and much of our stuff was totally unpacked. The truck proved hilariously inadequate for the task, and they ended up having to load and unload it three times while still ultimately leaving behind a significant portion of our belongings, a whole sofa, and much of our yard furniture. The initial crew of movers was reasonably careful and professional, if woefully outnumbered relative to the task. But as the day dragged on, and they made more and more trips between the two houses, the professional and competent movers started to disappear and be replaced by actual teenage children. I don't mean this metaphorically, actual HS students, one of which asked for our Wi-Fi password as he had to call his mom for permission to stay out late to finish the job. Eventually a crew of six movers were involved in the last trip of the box truck, but by then it was after midnight. Lack of care with our items: As a result of the crew being replaced as the night wore on less and less care was taken as the adults were replaced by children as above. Anything they could get their hands on and would fit into a box was thrown into boxes willy nilly. Hammers were put into boxes with unwrapped and loose glassware. Used toilet brushes were thrown in with linens. Ceramic statues were jammed in with unprotected glass lamps. No furniture pads were used at any point during the move and we lost three floor lamps, a bookshelf, and an antique desk to damage. They claimed about the later that they had concerns about being able to move it, which they conveniently did not share until the time came to unload it from the truck and they saw the damage they had already done to it. Curiously, they had no problems sharing their concerns in advance about a couch that would have been inconvenient to move and they had to be persuaded to leave in our old garage instead of in the middle of the yard. Several huge gouges were also made on our new hardwood floors by a couch being dragged across it by two people instead of waiting long enough to have a larger number of people try to lift it. We heard and saw this happen ourselves. Rather than roll up handwoven Persian rugs as part of the packing process, they left all of our carpets down while loading the trucks, with the result that all of them have extensive muddy footprints that we still haven't gotten out. Multiple dishware items were put in the same protective sleeves, sometimes as many as three drinking glasses in a sleeve meant for one. This is despite the fact that we had multiple cases worth of protective sleeves unopened after they finished the job. Similarly, boxes were dangerously overstuffed even though we had over two dozen unused boxes leftover at the end of the move. Possible theft: they moved the kitchen drawer in which we kept cash, and the bills in marked envelopes were all accounted for, but the crisp $100 bill at the bottom of the drawer disappeared en route. The owner denied personal knowledge and may have been truthful but this is the downside of going through eight different movers in a day. Difficulty following directions: we asked them not to bring anything stacked on a certain counter in our kitchen, so they also helpfully neglected to bring anything in any of the drawers or cabinets underneath that counter as well, including all of our silverware and mixing bowls. We asked them to only pack and bring items from shelving units in our basement, and so they scoured the basement and systematically brought everything we wanted them to leave behind. They also insisted on payment in advance before each stage of the work instead of when completed as initially agreed upon. In retrospect this is not at all surprising. Still seemed to expect a significant tip after all was said and done.

We used this company recently for a move from our two bedroom loft in downtown Pittsburgh to a…read moretownhouse in Lawrenceville. Overall we had a very negative experience. We had been planning the move with them for weeks. Leading up to the day, we were very straight forward about how much stuff we had and the difficult items we had. In our opinion, this move should've taken 4 hours. It took almost 7. 1. We paid for three movers at $239/hour. Many times throughout the day, one of the guys frequently was standing around on his phone. One of the other guys wouldn't stop complaining. Frequently the two guys I just mentioned were doing the work of one person - such as moving items on dolly to a truck - does that really require two men? We paid for three people, but after considering the poor work ethic of one of them and the fact that two people were sometimes doing the work of one, we really only got 1.5 people. 2. They damaged several pieces of our furniture. And didn't come with enough supplies to protect all of our furniture. (We ended up having to use our own blankets to protect our headboard). See photos provided. There were multiple scratches made to expensive wooden pieces, and giant holes ripped in the bottom of our mattress. 3. My husband called the company in the middle of the move to see if they could have a word with their crew, because at that point we were pretty unhappy. Asked if he could have them please pick up the pace because we were paying by the hour, and it was taking longer than expected (see note 1 about paying for three people but only getting one and a half due to playing around on phone and doing inefficient work). The response from the company was that we had "unrealistic expectations" and they didn't help us at all. So according to this company, expecting to get three peoples amount of work done when you paid three people is unrealistic. Expecting people you are paying hourly to not be on their phones is unrealistic. Expecting people you are paying to be professional and not complain incessantly is unrealistic. They made no attempt what so ever to make things right. 4. By the end of the day, even the crew lead was visibly annoyed by his crew. He was a hustler and the only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1. 5. Forgot to mention the couch. We have a three person seater with a sleeper couch. We warned them ahead of time that this would be the hardest piece to move. Two of the guys tried for about a half hour to get it out the front door before my husband had to go and show them how to do everything. Then they proceeded for an hour after that trying to get the couch into the elevator. We told them it wasn't going to fit and they would have to take the stairs (When we moved into our place 2 years ago, movers took it UP the stairs no problem, very quickly. We are only on the third floor). They repeatedly said "yeah, we're not doing that" and proceeded to complain and take more and more time that WE were paying for. Eventually they had to take the stairs, of course. So it effectively took them 1.5 hours to do something that took a different company (the one that helped us move in) less than a half hour. Overall they started at 8am and ended at 2:45 pm. We paid over $2,000, for a job that took way longer than it needed to. We paid for three men and didn't get the power of three men. We have damaged furniture. And despite all of this, we were told that we had unrealistic expectations and they were happy to take our money. We felt scammed and wouldn't use this company again. Save yourself the time, money, and headache. Do not hire this company.

Claimed truck was 'full' despite being half full. Movers were instructed not to unload our items at our destination, UNTIL payment was made (which how can that be if time to unload was not accounted for?). Damaged walls and items. Had to call 2 friends to help unload the truck. Hands down the worst company I have ever worked with.We used them for a move on April 2024 to move our items from our townhome to a house that was 0.3miles away. The move took 6 hours longer than expected, despite having already broken items down and made them easily accessible. The moving crew had 0 equipment and were extremely unskilled in moving the most basic items, including a mattress. They called a week before the move to get an estimated list of items that I would need moved, during which on the phone call that I explained I was currently travelling and can only list of what large items come to mind and approximately 25-30 boxes for the miscellaneous items. There was no follow up email sent to gather a formal list of all the items needing moved. On moving day, movers were 2 hours late and 2/3 workers showed up in an unbranded moving truck that did not have a ramp. I walked the movers through our townhome and showed them everything that needed to be moved. However, it became very apparent that the movers had no experience in how to move out a house. They were unnecessarily wrapping things that didn't need to be wrapped, and did not know how to move a mattress as it took around 30 minutes to get it down 2 normal flights of stairs. It wasn't until hour 2 of 6 of moving out that the third mover showed up. They spent a total of 6 hours trying to move our well packaged and organized items out of the townhome. I spoke with Michael Dunne who asked me what is going on and why is it taking so long to move out. I explained that the movers were disorganized and lost with this move out process, and that the truck did not have a ramp. One of the movers came back to me and said that they couldn't take half of the items I showed them because it was 'not on the list' - the estimate list that I read out over the phone while travelling. We were 5 hours into this move out process that should've taken no more than 1.5-2 hours with any other company. They also claimed the truck was 'full' even though nothing was stacked. I also had to help them move some of the bigger items into the truck myself. 6 hours into the move, Michael Dunne called one of the workers and said they had to move onto the destination right up the street and start unloading. Extremely frustrated at this point, I agreed to move on and we'll come back for the other items ourselves - Michael Dunne got me to schedule another pickup in a few days, during which a $100 deposit was made. When we arrived at the unloading destination, the movers were instructed not to open the cargo door until a full payment of $2081 was made, PRIOR to unloading the items. This was around 2x what was quoted as they were charging for 'extra time' due to their inability to support a proper move-out. How do you know what to charge hourly if you haven't done the unloading process yet? They parked on a very busy street and not our driveway, despite me requesting the drivers to park in the driveway or even our front lawn. They refused, stating "we are not a traffic company, we are a moving company. F**k the traffic". Multiple items damaged, walls damaged, it took until 9:30pm (9.5 total hours) to have 75% of our items moved out of our townhome that we can still see out of the window from our new house. It took multiple emails and phone calls to cancel the follow up move and receive my $100 deposit back. I never received the signed contract at the time payment was made, and emails and phone calls have not been answered.
