You can't go wrong with glazed. However the kolashi was ok. It's unassuming large and you're thinking I'm can only eat one. However, it's mostly bread. It's like several bites until you get to the hot dog and then it's over and back to eating just bread. The kolashi is like 5 inches but the hotdogs is like a Vienna sausage length. OK, maybe not that small but tear off an inch or so on both ends and then you get the perfect meat to bread ratio. And they didn't put that much cheese and only 2 slices of jalapeño so just stick to thr glazed. read more

I live in the northeast. My BIL is a transplanted texan. I have a few friends who are transplanted texans. They all rave about shipley's. So i had to try. was not disappointed. Overall 5 stars Food 5 stars service 5 stars Value 4 stars Layout 4 stars / na Will I be back? I wish. Don't live in TX Food Unfortunately (or fortunately for my health) I could only try 2 donuts. So I naturally tried the two donuts whose trays were the most empty. My logic was "these donut varieties are almost sold out at 8 am, they must be good". They ended up being fantastic, but my logic was flawed bc after I ordered, the bakers brought out fresh trays of donuts. Anyway, my choices were the powdered, and chocolate. Both fantastic. Service: not much to comment here. I didn't ask for much help, and staff was quite competent. Value Prices were more than I expected for a donut place. But what do I know? Shipley's has really started to slip, and it's not just this location. They NEVER have hot doughnuts and that is their big differentiator. Their doughnuts are OK cold but are not nearly as good. Their kolaches are still good enough but, again, not really better than many other places. I have seen to at least 5 other Shipley's locations, some of them are very busy locations and have gone at busy times and they still don't have hot doughnuts. It makes me sad. We were told that the doughnuts here were amazing, so we had to try them while in the Dallas area. When we arrived, there was nothing that jumped out and said order me. My wife wanted to try a chocolate bar, when she was informed that all of the bars are filled, which she does not care for. She ordered a maple raised, and I ordered a chocolate raised. The doughnuts seemed smaller than those we are used to getting in Reno. I wouldn't call them amazing, nor would I say that they are bad, as I have had far worse! I love Shipleys!!!! I always get jalapeño kolaches and chocolate cream filled donuts. Sometimes I get regular glazed or chocolate when I'm not in a mood to get spicy food. Shirley's have the best donuts hands down!!! It's so soft and chewy! This location is convenient located by the highway. This area has crazy drivers. Terrible donuts, unless you like them way too doughy. Definitely bland and not enough flavor. The store is full of flies and has grease stains all over the walls. The staff consisted of one guy who kept going to the back to play on his phone whenever he wasn't taking someone's order. Donuts from the grocery store are better than Shipley's, so I would not recommend! read more

They got my order completely wrong and I did the math and they overcharged me by about 5 dollars.

Picked up donuts to bring to the office, donuts weren't great. Threw my apple fritter away because it tasted like wax. Coffee tasted like they brewed it with one coffee bean. The Kolache was good, seemed freshly made. Customer service was good. read more

I've been coming here for nearly 9 years to get my donuts but no more. Their donuts have gone from the fluffy and tasty donuts to ones that are limp and somewhat tasteless. While offering tasty, sugery donuts, the staff are rude and uncaring. Today I stopped in and ordered a box of treats, and I asked, "Do you take credit cards?" "Yes", was the reply. When the credit card was run through their machine, I noticed an extra 5% added to the charge. I can afford the extra cost, but it was the idea that they added this cost in without saying they would do it. When I asked about the practice they just blew me off. How hard would it have been to say, "Yes, we take credit cards but we add 5%"? They don't understand the life of a small business - they should want to keep business rather than push them away. There are other choices for donuts that are just as good - and with much friendlier staffs. Lewisville, Texas location: Made a purchase this morning at store with a debit card. I was charged a .30 NON CASH ADJUSTMENT fee. When I ask about it I was told the credit card company charged this and not the store. The fee should be paid by the retailer for taking the credit card / debit card. It's a cost of doing business. This is our family's favorite place for donuts! The kolaches are giant and always fresh and hot. There's a great selection of both cake and traditional donuts. Lots of icings to choose from. The "crunchy" donut is very unique. It's a regular donut rolled in cinnamon sugar and THEN glazed. Super messy but worth it every time! read more

During my trip I had to see a lot of clients and Shipley's was my way to their hearts. According to Texans, Shipleys is a household name and the only place to get a "real donut". I only tried a jelly filled donut (because thats my favorite) but it lived up to expectations. The dough was fresh and soft and the jelly on the inside was cool and sweet. Every time I walked in the door with a box all of my clients were excited so I think it's safe to assume the rest of the donuts are great also. The drive through is not conventional as there is no speaker to order from or a menu board, you just kind of have to know what you want when you pull up to the window. Otherwise this place is great. Make sure you stop in and they have great coupons as well so make sure you take advantage of those. read more

I am forced to go to this shipleys from time to time because the better shipleys in Carrollton is to far to drive. I dont know what they do different here but it is lacking compared to the other few shipley's around. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Shipley's Do-nuts! Whenever I am back in Texas I have to have their Chocolate filled donuts! I don't eat a lot of sweets but these chocolate filled donuts are to die for. I always get a dozen of them on the way to the airport to come back home. Then when I get back to California, believe it or not, I put them in the freezer and dole them out. I love this place. They don't use animal gelatin in their icing, and that is awesome to me. I take donuts to monthly meeting I attend - people are waiting in line because they know I'll bring the "best" donuts - this shop is Great - always busy, but very helpful and patient with their customers.
