Every detail from the decor, to the fresh coffee and baked goods, to the provided outdoor activities (weather dependent) was just perfect. We had a really great weekend went with eight other couples we had the whole building to ourself wonderful view rooms were very clean staff was very pleasant and helpful lots to do in this area there's all kinds of restaurants little bars boat tours and all kind of things to do I enjoyed setting on the deck and watching the ships go by a lot of lot of people here very busy area but very nice atmosphere recommend coming here even if it's only for one night give it a try I think you'll like it. read more

Great place to stay, excellent food and friendly service. We have been here several times to celebrate anniversaries and other occasions. The staff are friendly and attentive and the breakfasts are wonderful. Special touches abound and each room is clean, bright and tastefully appointed. Rooms are on 3 floors so consider whether steps will be a problem in choosing your room. A special door code is provided after reservations are made so you can come and go as you wish. A warm eating and relaxing area downstairs, with shelves stocked with snacks, games, books and more. Restaurants, bars and interesting shops are within easy walking distance. Parking is very limited, especially on the weekends, so guests may need to park a block or more away. read more

My husband and I just stayed for our 5 year wedding anniversary. This is the cutest bed and breakfast. The room was stylish and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable and had enough pillows for anyone's liking. The bathroom was huge. And the views!!! The views never got old. There were goodies and treats always out and plenty of drinks to help ourselves to. While we didn't stay for breakfast it looked delicious and the staff were so friendly and always making sure we had everything we needed. We did get a cheese plate and enjoyed it on the deck while watching all the boats/ships pass by. We just got home and are already talking about our next trip down!! Dont recommend, after all the B&B's we have visited, we have never got up at 4 a m. To just leave a Bed & Breakfast. The Mattresses at this location were not comfortable at all, walls are paper thin, you won't get a good night sleep. They don't offer a Code to your room that works for you and the owner doesn't care at all if you had a good night sleep or if there horrible accomodations ruined your 11th wedding anniversary. We just got married and were looking for something close, reasonably priced and on the water. The Shipwatch Inn filled the bill. Janelle was wonderful booking our last minute reservation the Chesapeake Suite was spacious, the corner Jacuzzi fit both hubby and my 'chubby' sleves. Breakfast was fabulous and dinner the night before was filling at the Chesapeake Inn. The Chesapeake Inn was a 3 min stroll away and since the weather was mild, quite pleasant. If you like the water but don't want to drive to the beaches check out the Shipwatch Inn! read more

My wife and I have tried to make a habit of weekends away from the kids twice a year...and if it means we can only get one night out, so be it. We tried to make a night out in Havre de Grace, but after last-minute calls got us stonewalled by our preferred B&B, we opened up our search area and decided on Chesapeake City, and the Ship Watch was picked due to the wonderful views of the canal. And... What a great B&B the Ship Watch proved to be. We arrived around 6:20 PM- after check-in hours- but found the key easily and made ourselves at home. Muffins and fudge awaited in the dining room, along with a Keurig. Once we made it up to the Kent room ($140/night) on the third floor, the views at night were impressive, but nothing compared to the views by daylight the next morning. Besides the room/balcony views, the room itself was perfect...the bed was extremely comfortable, furniture/decorating was tasteful, and the room was very clean and well-maintained. Breakfast the next morning was great, if not simple- waffles and fresh fruit, bacon, coffee, juice, and aforementioned muffins.We had a nice chat with Renee and enjoyed her immensely...some people are just plain cut out to run a B&B. Though checkout was at 11 AM, and unfortunately we had to check out, yet she let us remain in the Inn's parking spaces until after noon. We enjoyed the morning spent in Chesapeake City, and got a feel for the town with a church bazaar, the pet parade, and the offerings of the shops on Bohemia Street. The Bayard Inn provided a wonderful Friday night dinner, also noteworthy. Though 24 hours is a short time frame for a "vacation", the Ship Watch certainly did its part in making those 24 hours wonderful. Yes, we're fans, and wouldn't hesitate to return...hopefully, for 48 hours next time! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ship Watch Inn the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We stayed in the Dorchester Room which had a king sized bed, flat screen tv, and the tub had jacuzzi jets. Our room was very clean and comfortable. There is a shared balcony with chairs, and it looks over the canal. I have added the picture of our view (keep in mind it was taken in February!) The Inn itself was very cute and the innkeeper, Renee, was friendly and welcoming. She keeps sodas in the fridge, cake, cookies, and candy in the dining room, and there is a keurig for guest use as well. There is a deck on the first floor which also overlooks the canal. I was told by other guests who have stayed there before, that in the summer, there is live music on the first floor deck. Breakfast was served between 8am-10am. There are four tables in a beautifully decorated dining room. The day we were there, they were serving eggs benedict which you could get with or without jumbo lump crab meat. Of course, we opted for the crab! It came with fresh fruit also, and everything was very tasty. There are about four parking spaces for the inn, which were all taken when we arrived. However, we found free street parking about half a block away. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the inn, making it a great destination for a relaxing weekend away with your loved one. read more

As part of my wedding package at the Chesapeake Inn, I got some kind of deal at the Ship Watch (I think one free night's stay on my wedding night? It's been a few years!). We went to check the place out and decided to have our entire wedding party stay there the night of the wedding. What a GREAT decision that turned out to be! The Ship Watch is GORGEOUS inside and out, with a beautiful view of the river. The brunch was out of this world! Quite disappointed . My friend and I decided to meet in Chesapeake city as a halfway point between where we each live for a girls weekend getaway. We really enjoy staying at bed and breakfasts when we meet up. We love chatting with the inn keepers about great restaurants, shops, things to do, history of the house and town. ( I had never been, or heard of Chesapeake city prior to this trip). She arrived before me and said the room was nice but the inn keeper was very curt. So I will get down to it..... Room, clean, warm( others complained their rooms were freezing, not the case for us). Bed, super comfy! View, very nice Breakfast, also very nice, coffee, juice, fruit , day 1 eggs Benedict, day 2, pancakes and bacon. The young man who served us was pleasant but very timid. It was awkward. He and the innkeeper stayed in kitchen the entire time,it was a bit uncomfortable. There was never an opportunity to ask questions or get any insight regarding the area. We had cold showers on the second day. Freezing cold, each with long hair and only 1 towel each. I would have asked for extra towels, but again, innkeeper wasn't the most approachable, nor visible. May sound nit picky but it was 10 degrees out, and we were getting ready to leave. When my friend mentioned to innkeeper, she got a bit cranky and said "yea, that's cuz everyone is showering at the same time"..... NO SHIT!!!! How about, omg , I am so sorry. I didn't realize . Something!! Anything!!!! Don't stand there with your hand on your hip and an attitude... we just froze our asses off!!!!! Then as we r walking out( both my friend and mine hands were full with bags) the innkeeper walks right behind me and doesn't even have courtesy to help with the door. Rude. I don't know, maybe I've just been spoiled at EVERY other b&b I've stayed at, but I do know I am not stay ing here again. The town is really cute and there are three other b&bs right in town, I would try one of them next time. read more

This is a lovely, clean and oh so charming Inn!!! My husband and I stayed in the Annapolis Suite. For me the bed was as soft as butter and smelled so fresh! There is a Jacuzzi in the bath room that was so relaxing! You have availability to the downstairs area which offers ice, sodas, tea, coffee and a simple offering of homemade baked goods. This little area holds several tables in a pinkish floral decorated dining area where breakfast is served. Renee is the Inn Keeper and she prepared a beautiful omelet severed with fresh fruit along with a decanter of fresh coffee. I went downstairs around 10:00 pm and helped myself to a cup of pumpkin spice tea and a slice of Krispy Kreme Cake. There was ever so soft music playing and I felt such a sense of genuine hospitality and comfort. I brought my tea and cake up to our room and sat on the balcony overlooking the canal. It was so peaceful. For me this was a great first time staying at this Inn. read more

This B&B is located in the very sweet town of Chesapeake City. Built in the 1830s and 1840's, it is delightful to stroll around in. The little houses are very charming and you really can imagine what it must have been like to live there at that time. My family and I stopped by the Ship Watch Inn on a weekday. The inn is perfectly pleasant (comfortable bed and bathroom), but nothing compared to the hospitality and detail-orientedness of some B&Bs. The rooms are simply appointed (though they have lovely views over the canal) and the breakfast is nothing to write home about. I fear that in this day and health-conscious age, pancakes and bacon and a small serving of fruit just doesn't cut it. No choice of breakfast items and an inn employee who was extremely unpleasant serving us breakfast did not make for a very satisfying start to our day. I was drawn to this place based on the reviews but I am not sure I'd give it much more than 2 (maybe 3) stars based on the service. read more

I have never posted a bad review before, but this place needs to get what they deserve. In all my years of traveling, usually opting for B&Bs, I have never been treated so rudely or cheated like this. B&Bs are normally more personal, friendly and more accommodating than hotels so we prefer that kind of experience - that is the entire point for me. Also, having dietary restrictions, I always note that in my booking requests and follow up with the innkeeper prior to check-in to make sure there is no issue and have never had a problem - until now. The manager never responded to my note at booking or my confirmation email the day before about dietary needs, and didn't say a thing until AFTER we paid at check-in, at which time it was announced that breakfast would be a dish that contained meat and if we didn't like it we could ask the cook to take that off... wait, what? Not only is this unacceptable, but dangerous - what if someone had a serious food allergy? Was pretty angry but tired from the drive and figured I would address this again after we had a chance to calm down, then noticed a sign in the dining room stating oatmeal or bagels were available options - not mentioned to us at the time but there it was in writing, so figured we'd be ok and I'd ask the cook at breakfast. The next morning we sat at one of the tables in the dining room and were greeted pretty rudely with "are you staying for breakfast then?" at which point I was unable to mask my irritation and disbelief and replied that yes, we were planning on it, although it's understood they don't accommodate our diet so please let's have the oatmeal. We were then offered packets of instant... Needless to say we immediately checked out and headed north to a friendly diner for the nice, freshly cooked, hot meal we ought to have had at this place. What we paid to stay there is robbery considering how we were treated and that we didn't even get a decent meal. If you want to feel welcome and enjoy your time, and especially if you have dietary restrictions of ANY KIND, skip this place - there are many other fine establishments a little further south that would welcome you with open arms and are far more deserving of your business. read more
