New owners. Bad overcooked dry foods (from frozen, obvious when you taste it) veg was so overcooked it came in a jug!!!!!! I kid you not!. Lamb shank was very dry indeed. Better quality from local supermarket. Overpriced beers. Dont expect much change from a fiver for a pint. Honestly. The original décor of this pub is being slowly destroyed by the owners. Each new owner takes a little bit more of the soul of the pub away by destroying the original décor. Such a shame that outsiders can cause so much damage to a village meeting place in just a few years. All for money, using a business model that does not work for anyone involved. Just being sold on to a new owner every few years. The fear is that the locals could lose this pub altogether knowing all it takes to get it back is cheaper drinks, yet none of the owners are willing to offer this, causing them to fail each and every time due to no business in the winter. Such a shame.
This used to be a thriving local pub, always packed with locals even through winter. Once it became more focused on food and the drinks prices went through the roof, it is usually empty. Not surprised the ownership changes every few years. All it needs is to focus on cheap drinks and good foods and it will become the hub of the village, like it once was. It had amazing food and cheap drinks.....such a winning formula/ Money grabbing on the drinks is destroying this gem of a pub. If they cut the drinks prices by half, buisness would boom. The lack of local business in the winter destroys this place for the owners each and every time, but with each new owner, nothing changes. They would be busy even midweek in the winter. The locals are crying out to get their pub back. They have realised it may be gone forever. read more
