We chose to take our son here for his 18th birthday party, our day started in Paignton where he was surprised by more family and friends, he then stood on the foot plate of an old steam train which is where he stayed until we reach dartmouth. The ship inn is only a stones throw from the platform, so meant it worked in well with our time scale of catching train back to Paignton, we had a very warm welcome on arrival and the atmosphere was just what I'd hoped for, a lovely coal fire was burning and the cat curled up on his chair, our table was set and waiting for us and the landlord was lovely, made us all feel very welcome. As for the food. Well what can I say, it was FAB, i chose to have crab and it was defenatly some of the best I've ever had and not one bit of shell in it!! The chips where all made fresh and where devoured quickly and more we happily offered, a great day was had by all and I couldn't recommend this pub highly enough, if your looking for a relaxed friendly laid back place to eat with great food and real ale (as our friend put it) then this is the place for you. read more
