Plenty of pull outs, benches, and look out points along the way. There was one point of the trail that had some bumps that appear to be in the process of being repaved, but otherwise no complaints. The only downside, biking up to Kincaid park was a challenge and the views at the top aren't worth it, there is also nothing waiting up top. Would be cool to see a coffee shop or something of the sort.

I think it was well worth the $25 price since $2 would go toward the hike parking. Plus Peter provides some additional stops toward and from the hike, such as the public library and zoo. I also loved the fun facts he gave us about the history of the Anchorage. He was so nice to lend me some hiking boots (which saved my butt) since I brought only jogging shoes. Last but not least, since all of the passengers were on the way between the hike and his business, he took some time out to drop each of us off at our accommodations. We did the Summer Valley & Forest Hike on Sep 4 with our guide, Bryce, and two other hikers. This…read morewas an easy hike for us - largely flat, and beautiful throughout. Being new to Alaska, we didn't feel comfortable doing any hikes on our own, and Bryce was a fantastic guide. He was on time for our pickup, friendly and informative throughout the drive to the trail head, and best of all, he stopped the van along the way for a surprise moose sighting in a lake by the highway. We were able to capture some great photos and videos of the moose grazing in the lake, from a close but safe vantage point, and without feeling rushed. Then the hike itself was great - again, beautiful throughout, and Bryce had great knowledge of the plants and area. He stopped a number of times to bring our attention to plants and mushrooms that are important or unique to the area and gave us time to admire the views at various stops (among them a stunning waterfall). Be sure to bring water and snacks for the hike, as it's long enough that we got a bit hungry. Go Hike Alaska has many offerings; this was the only one we did during our short Anchorage stay, but given our experience, we'll definitely seek them out again when back in the beautiful state.

I agree with other Yelpers when it comes to the trail being secluded and more "in the woods," compared to say, The Tony Knowles trail, which is a favorite of mine. Because of this, you're definitely more likely to see wildlife on this trail, so be bear and moose aware. Carry lots of bug spray. The biggest pro about this trail for me, is all the shallow fresh water access points. Please note, the most secluded parts of this trail are also home to Anchorage's homeless population, so it's best to be aware of your surroundings in general.

Anchorage's urban trail system is it's biggest asset that no one outside of Anchorage knows about,…read moreand that folks in Anchorage take for granted. This one runs West-to-East. In the west, it starts at Westchester Lagoon and it seems to end at Goose Lake Park in the east. I use a good chunk of it to bike commute. It's nice in that it rarely intersects a road. Where it approaches a main-vain, it tunnels underneath the road. Chester Creek is also very picturesque in parts. It's got a gentle flow, it's lined with trees, and it's dotted with quaint little wooden bridges. It makes me want to sing "Over the river and through the woods, to grandmother's house we go!" It's decently groomed in the winter, and is the realm of XC skiers and fat bikers, but it can be done with some good waterproof boots, on foot, as well.

Elderberry Park got a recent makeover!…read more I've been trying to get my kiddos here all summer, but of course, with a view like this, the playground stays full. We were recently able to sneak in, early afternoon on a partly cloudy day. Score! Also only had my youngest in tow, score! She got to enjoy everything fully --no rush. Yay! There are benches, a more common swing set, another swing that is the highlight of this playground, a cool slide, climbing structure, pull-up climber and I believe a porta-potty, also. Highly recommend!

They had some structures for the kids to climb and play on and she seemed to enjoy it. We also liked the view from the park (its basically on the coast); we got to see the mountains across the bay from Anchorage. While we were there, a train went by once or twice, which was interesting to see. If you are looking for a place to let your kids play, I would recommend this park.

Let's get one thing straight: I ain't no fisherman…read more I'm a...well, I don't what the term is in fishing circles. In gaming they call 'em "newbs". In sport climbing they call 'em "gumbies". Whatever they call that in fishing, that's what I am. I don't know anythign about knots, hooks, bait, etc. I just do what my brother tells me. This is a good place to watch other people fish. It's not all that scenic, it's pretty much a wet, muddy, mucky area with little-to-no views of the mountains. (Seriously, you'll want some serious boot/wader action to fish here) However, it is a fun place to walk to from downtown and see something different. The main novelty, of course, is that you can fish while still technically being "downtown". You can also eat at the nearby "Bridge" restaurant which used to be quite good but now is an overpriced tourist trap. If you're a tourist, you'll love it. If you're a local, don't bother.

They did have the shoes I wanted but I also found a very cool windbreaker ! I was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome when I walked in . The person who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable. I looked at a lot of different things ( so many great items , yet the store is not at all overcrowd with stuff .) A lot of their clothes and shoes are technical in a good way . I was having so much fun I had to go and put more money in my parking meter . Skinny Raven supports the Anchorage community with fun runs and in lots of other nice ways .

Our group did the Glacier Blue Kayak and Grandview Tour which started with a trainride from…read moreGirdwood to Spencer Glacier. Then we had a quick kayak lesson, then paddled across the water to get up close to the glacier. Once we walked up close to admire the view, we did a meaningful meditation, took some pictures, then headed down for lunch. The box lunch was plentiful and fresh. Just enough to keep us satisfied as the train went up to Grandview to see a few more glaciers and some waterfalls that you can't get to by road. All in all, Ryan and Caroline provided us with a safe and fun day that was unforgettable. Definitely the highlight of our time in Alaska.

We did the Spencer glacier tour and the weather was absolutely horrible…read more River was our float guide and was fantastic. The glacier and the lake were absolutely amazing. The tour was about two hours and we got soaked and were very cold - but if you want to see glaciers they exist in cold and wet places. Our waterproof gear was not good enough to stave off the rain. Our guide had hot chocolate for us about half way through and it was excellent and appreciated. This was a spectacular excursion. Highly recommended. Get warm and water prof gear and layer.
