Dann Lake Park doesn't do much for me. It is located in a lowland and swampy area. Almost every…read moretime we wanted to enjoy the walk, we had to turn back because we couldn't get through the wet spots on the trail or something. Even the freezing temperature didn't help. The walking path was still wet and muddy. No fun. We once tried this place on a hot summer day. The ground was much drier, but I couldn't stand the blazing sun and swarm of bugs. There is no shade on the path for shelter. So, again it was an unpleasant experience for me. In general, the area feels sketchy and uninviting. Even though the town invested in a fancy EZ Launch for kayaks and canoes with an accessible transfer system, someone forgot about putting the sign at the entrance. Right now, you'll see just an old wooden board covered in graffiti. In fact, the whole new recreational area was vandalized with very bad graffiti, including the boardwalk. That's low. Whoever likes Dann Lake Park must have a different approach and needs than mine, that's great. Not sure, but besides kayaking etc., it could be a good place for casual fishing. Anyway, I'm out :).

We saw a lot of park exterior fence damage with a LOT of felled Trees due to recent storms. The two entrances we have used were both yellow-taped closed, with NO signage or other indications the park when it would be open again.

This is a wonderful and overgrown nature preserve in the wilderness, which a lot of people don't know about or visit. It feels like you have stepped from an industrial part of Buffalo into the absolute wilderness in a matter of moments. If you like wildlife and nature I highly recommend walking around here. It's right next to the water, but full of interesting, overgrown, unkempt wonder. The exact opposite of Times Square.

There is no unstable footing and the trail is very smooth. My issue is the caretaking of the grass and benches. To many areas of the trail is overgrown with weeds. So much so, that many of the benches are not even worth trying to sit at. Some of the benches need to be changed out, because they are so rusted out. But again the actual path is great, and well worth coming to enjoy it. I am not sure how far this trail stretches out mile wise, but we started at black rock and ended up at Tonawanda. During this stretch you pass boat docks, water pump houses, and a restaurant called River Grill. I will be coming back

Besides that, there's also a nice walking path that goes through a pretty area. Decent walking today but saw spots that might be a bit muddy during wetter weather. Definitely not a hard walk though. There's also a large building which I presume are public restrooms. There's some grassy area to picnic too. However it seems most people come here just to park, then ride their bike on the bike path. Part of the bike path runs along the water. There's also boat storage for the UB rowing team here. I'd recommend coming here to picnic, briefly checkout the view, or bring your bike and enjoy the bike path.

It was a moderately challenging (meaning some extended periods of walking uphill) and about a 3-1/2 to 4 mile hike. The day we went it was not buggy but we did encounter some muddy areas. Great place to hike come fall when the leaves will be changing.

Riverwalk is the bicycle path that runs along the Buffalo waterfront from just near Canalside, at…read morethe corner of Lakefront and Erie Street. It continues all the way to Vulcan Street at the border, where the path continues as the same name, maintained by The City of Tonawanda. It is part of both the Erie Canal bike path network as well as the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Network and Niagara Greenway network of bike paths. It's a well designed path, rolling along Buffalo's waterfront with gorgeous views of the lake and the river. It is, however, in need of some serious love: The striping on the path is long faded (It looks like it was originally designed to be a multi-use trail, with a pedestrian lane and two bike lanes.) The path itself has become narrowed over the years, and there are a lot of bumps and potholes. Luckily, there seem to be volunteer people out there that have spraypainted some of the most dangerous areas as warning. It really really needs to have some graffiti removal done, particularly along Unity Island. It links a ton of parks along the Buffalo waterfront, everything from Canalside to LaSalle, Broderick (especially now that the bridge is open again!) to Unity Island, Black Rock Canal Park and then up to Riverside park. There is a link to the Scajaquada Bike Path by the Army Corps of Engineers at Niagara Street and the the entrance to Unity Island Park. The section further up is a little better maintained, and the parts that go through some of the newer parks (such as Black Rock Canal Park) have been recently redone and are quite nice.) It's a great bike path to explore, by bike, roller blade, or just walking. Hopefully with the restoration of the link between Unity Island and downtown with the bridge reopening, the city will give it some much needed TLC.
