My husband had the steak and ale pie, and I had the summer salad which included chicken and scampi in sweet chili sauce. Both dishes were absolutely outstanding, and we've been traveling for more than a week in England and have been to England before. Had to be right up at the top if not the top meal we've had in England! On top of that, we were late to an attraction, and as we walked down the street after leaving the pub, the owner Mark pulled up alongside of us and insisted on giving us a ride to the ferry so we'd have plenty of time to see Osborne House! Of course we came back and visited a couple of additional times, and were never disappointed by the coffee, the Ale, the food, or the company. We would highly recommend this pub to all comers!

Veg was blanched and needed a stake knife to cut. Chicken was yesterdays leftovers and was very tough. I am sad, for many yrs it was my local pub. Ordered a doggy bag but food made dog ill. Sadly I moved away before I was old enough to go on it, and it is now long gone! However, what's left is a Toby Carvery with tasty, affordable roast dinners on every day of the week, and a lovely outdoor seating area next to the river, which is very picturesque. It does get busy on Sundays but there are lots of early bird deals to be had on weekdays, and it's usually a lot quieter then too. A fantastic place for a relaxing meal and a couple of drinks.

The pub is the only pub in the harbour and has a large carpark so access is very easy. Using a wheelchair is not a problem as the doors are large and the interior is spacious, however upon my last visit there were no disabled toilets but the normal toilets were adequate and they allow a carer to go in with you. The pub itself is decorated inside with a wonderful warm almost mexciana feel, there are warm burnt oranges next to cool blues and the welcome you receive is very warm and friendly even from the locals and other drinkers visiting. It is a family friendly pub with children allowed in right up until closing time, however don't let this put you off it's not a rowdy noisy place with kids running about it's just a good old family atmosphere. There is a small outdoor area with a few tables which has some old ships memorablilia and is wonderful on a summers evening. There is a darts board and the whole pub is full of wonderful old heavy wood tables like you'd of found in a good old English pub of the last centuries. The bar is extensive with something to make every drinker happy and there is a good food menu which will surely fill you up and all reasonably priced. Go there you won't regret it.
