We visited some of the wholesale stores across the street, then I saw this one and I realized I had to go in. This place is large and just lined with a million aisles. The food here is absurdly cheap. As an American in Prague, I thought Albert's was cheap. This makes Albert's look expensive if you can even imagine that. They also have a very nice sizable variety of Asian goodies which is awesome. Definitely a must go if you want to buy your food in bulk. Kind of like an American version of Costco but even cheaper with a larger variety of specialty goods. tldr; great place to buy food for absurdly cheap prices!

Most times I eat there I tell the lovely ladies at the counter to please hand me "that dish with all the stuff on it" which I think is called Javanka-something. I really don't know. But it's excellent. It's like a little tasting platter with small portions of a lot of different little meals, two of which are meat based, I think. Everything I have ever had there was excellent and super fresh. Plus: I very often have to (oh the tragey!) finish my wife's meals when she can't cope with the whole thing. Rather frequently my stomach feels heavy and I get tired after these sessions of having 1,3-1,5 meals. Not at Javanka. Although I have no real proof but my feelings, I'd say, eating at Javanka regularly might improve your health. It's a shame they aren't open on weekends and are closed for the month of August, but hey, if they use the off-time to bring more Indonesian tastiness to Prague they have got my blessing!

That being said, the shop is still an excellent resource for numerous Middle Eastern ingredients and a good basic range of beauty products hard to find somewhere else. My favourite food products are their well priced hummus cans with tahini way above in quality to the stuff sold in our supermarket international aisle, the canned baba ganoush, and the spice mixes which I know from the States and have otherwise hard time finding here. As for the beauty products - aside from the traditional henna, it's good to see the Vatika hair care brand shampoos and various oils. These kind of hair nourishment products are not much wanted and stocked across Prague, so it's convenient to be able to get them right here in the center for an acceptable price.
