What seemed like transparency and a skilled tradesperson did not reflect in the work performed. When I arrived I to pick up, I started to look over the car. The work was careless and sloppy. The pre-cut pieces are not aligned and other areas have edges with ragged cuts. As I start to point out these concerns with Eli, this is where the first red flag comes up. I first noticed three large bubbles on the hood. Eli responds with "those should go away, still it wouldn't warrant replacing the film." Another issue I can see is what are labeled as relief cuts These are located on my driver side fender, where it meets the door. These cuts allow the PPF to mold to a curved panel. These relief cuts are clearly visible both on the fenders and mirrors. I can't imagine these areas will hold up and or not collect debris. If the PPF was aligned correctly they would've been concealed between the two panels. The next issue was finding fibers under the film. Eli responds with "we don't work in a clean room". He then says "it sounds like you're trying to find things wrong with the work" at one point he says that I'm being "really picky". Then Eli tried to place the blame on me for not bringing the car in to go over with him on my first visit to the shop. Wait what?! When I did drop off my vehicle, we did exactly that. Eli inspected my brand new car with only 38 miles on it. He had no disclaimers, warnings and no concerns. I also provided a new key card to him in a zip lock to avoid any wear and tear or damage from occurring. Only to have it returned to me without the covering and now with abrasions. My new key card looks more worn than any of my credit cards after years of use. Eli was defensive, dismissive and lacked any accountability when it came to all the imperfections. These are all red flags when doing business with someone. I paid Shine Division $3300 dollars for the work performed. Another red flag was when it came time to pay. I asked what methods of payment were accepted. He responds with most people pay with Venmo or Zelle. If you know anything about these payment methods, you have no recourse once you submit payment. I should've stopped right there and required him to fix the issues before paying him. I trusted Eli to make things right and that was a lesson learned. He did agree to rewrap the fender and replace the rear rocker panels. Eli texts me later that evening "to make clear again" "by redoing the panel does not guarantee the outcome will be any better" "it's not perfection film, it's protection film" he also touches on that in "the PPF world, perfect is not a thing." A week after the install and so many lifted edges have come up. The biggest issue are these very sloppy cuts on the lower bumper, even a misaligned overwrap in plain view on the front bumper. The bubbles on the hood did not improve. I can also see visual imperfections in the same area. Where the fenders meet the front bumper the PPF is clearly misaligned. The rocker panels, fenders, mirrors and have relief cuts, misalignment and debris under the film. Eli may have some solid reviews and socials but his work and business acumen are far from five stars. I hoped that Eli would stand behind his work and make it right. Eli failed to do so from the moment I showed him the first issue. He did offer to have someone I've never met at a different shop take over. This option made absolutely no sense to me. What happens if the next shop makes a mistake or makes it worse? I have no confidence that Eli can correct the issues based on his own actions and statements. Which is why I requested a refund and did not return for my follow up appointment. He's also blocked me on social media. I'm not even a follower of his so for no reason other than to likely silence me. I recommend you look at the correspondence and images of my vehicle which clearly show the poor execution of Eli's work. I made three requests for a refund and then opened a dispute for the payment with my credit card company. I later gave Eli another opportunity to inspect, correct the problems and replace what was already promised. He declined due to the payment being in dispute. He also commented "I'm also a bit surprised by the request, since you previously mentioned a lack of confidence in my ability to perform the work." What Eli fails to comprehend is if the issues are all corrected there is no reason for the dispute and he would also have proof of correction. Eli responded both emotionally and egotistically instead of focusing on resolving the situation initially. Eli still hasn't acknowledged any of the issues clearly documented in the images provided, outside of the lifted edges. I would read Shine Division's fine print and ask for all disclosures. Ask for his Terms and Conditions, Service Completion and Acceptance and Vehicle Service Standards and Care. I would also not pay Shine Division until all services are all completed correctly and to your satisfaction. read more

Some shops didn't respond at all. In the case of Shine Division, I received an email reply a few minutes after I sent it to them. He asked a couple of questions to understand the damage better. He was transparent and honest about what he could and could not repair. After the email exchange, he requested some photos, which we sent. He had some reservations and asked us to bring the car in, so he confidently gave us an estimate. I couldn't believe it. Really? Only $100? We decided to also have a ceramic coating put on at the same time. Dropped the car off on Thursday and picked it up on Friday. It looks gorgeous. Don't let the relatively young age of the proprietor fool you (I said to my wife jokingly, 'I didn't know he would be a teenager'). Spoiler alert, he's in his mid-20s. He has the wisdom to know the value of customer service, and it shows from the need to expand his facility and the high-dollar cars that come to him for paint adjustments.
