That was almost 30 years ago, and now I always pray that he remains in good health so he can continue dentistry. He does use hearing aids, but that doesn't deter his service. I really appreciate how he does "the shots"; he has a technique that makes it quite tolerable. All of his work has been top-notch; he is worth what he charges, which has to cover a professional and nice office. I only had one glitch with him, but that's cuz he is a mainstream doctor; he does not care to hear about my use of tea tree oil and neem toothpaste when I tell him why, according to him, "I have the best gums he's seen". Also, when I got an infection in my jaw after a root canal, he would not admit that I had gotten one; fortunately, I was able to get antibiotics from another doctor. But alternative dentists tell the truth about how root canals can lead to infection.

One of his front office staff needs to check her behavior at the door to be more kind and patient. The other staff and assistants were all excellent. The reason I know Dr. Martey is excellent, is that I have gone to bad oral surgeons in the past that infected people and where pulling a tooth took weeks to heal instead of days. Santa Rosa was always good, and an Oral Surgeon in Redding is excellent, but Rog or Bog that were here years ago in Eureka were both rude, abusive, and corrupt. Thank goodness past Oral Surgeon is dead or at least gone from Humboldt County. The horrible surgeon was Rog or Bog. One was a horrible Dermatology Surgeon who mis diagnosed me and would have killed me had not Dr. Russel Pardoe saved the day. The other was a horrible Dental Surgeon. One died and the other left town, thank goodness. Hopefully, I will not need dental surgery again for a long time. However, if I do in the future I will go to Dr. Martey here locally. My teeth brake when pulled by a regular dentist, and then they need to send me to an Oral Surgeon to put me to sleep and dig the tooth fragments out. This is why I need an excellent Oral Surgeon to avoid having my roots exposed while waiting for an appointment with a proper oral surgeon to dig the tooth fragments out while asleep. My suggestion is to get Dental Insurance or have an account to save money monthly in order to have enough for to pay cash for dental emergencies not covered by Medicare.

As a low income student I explained it to her that I could not afford that and I just went in for a cleaning and she insisted the disease was imperative and my teeth would rot unless I did it. she tried to set up several different sessions of my busy time. I had to pay for her to poke my gums and didn't even get my teeth cleaned, over $300 and three separate visits for nonsense! She also instructed me to NOT floss my teeth until I got through with the periodontal cleaning! A dentist instructing someone not to floss!? Greedy Scam Artist!

Front office: Almost always my appointments are 8:30 and for some reason, they seem to not staff the front desk until.....8:30 and not a moment sooner. Today, they didn't make it to the front desk until 8:36. But they were all there, I could hear them cackling about American Idol or something. And when they finally came out, they were shocked to see 5 appointments standing in line and filling the waiting room. If my insurance is paying $1000 per kid per visit, it would be nice to have some sort of reception.
