Despite having shoved down gallons of the stuff over the years, one thing remains elusive about curries - the extent to which 'Indian restaurant' is a specific term, or just a catch-all generic description which isn't particularly accurate.
I'm most familiar with Bangladeshi restaurants. I say all this because it may be that a disappointing experience at this venue was simply a result of it being literally Indian and I'm just not used to it, despite years of curry experience. Perhaps the difference isn't nuanced, it's quite acute. But I have a hunch I'm being overly generous.
That's as fair as I can be, because what I tried, as takeaway, I didn't like. Among the order was an almost unrecognisable and tasteless starter. To make the overall effect worse, while I waited for my order to be completed, a diner was clearly intoxicated and becoming more and more of a handful. Perhaps she was a regular, because instead of asking her to leave, staff tried to placate and then indulge her by listening to her loud ramblings. I've never been back.
