Dealing with death in your family is never easy. It's painful, trying, and often quite messy. My…read moresituation is no exception. There are people in the family trying to act nefariously, and so I felt I needed to seek legal advice. I'd tried calling two different estate attorneys in NC (I am out of state). One was outright rude, replying, "Where did you get my number?" to a long, heartfelt message I sent him. The other firm was fine enough, but they wanted to charge me for a 5-minute phone call and didn't travel to the part of NC I needed them to. Another Google search led me to call Westall, Gray, & Connolly in Asheville. The receptionist asked what I needed, I gave a quick summary, and she transferred me to Wiley, an estate attorney who was very knowledgeable, patient, and just a lovely person to interact with--that's very welcome when you're dealing with vultures fighting over the family member's estate like it's carrion. Before I chatted with Wiley, I was afraid and upset, but his practical suggestions and warmth made me feel so much better. He's a humble guy as well. I didn't find out until the very end of the call that his last name is first on the letterhead. :-) So, if (let's be honest, more like WHEN) my family tries to cheat me out of my inheritance, I will happily hire Wiley to represent me. And I highly recommend that if you need an estate attorney, that you hire him as well.

The best attorney by far. Very thorough, efficient and has very competitive pricing. Hoard Law…read moremakes you feel as though you are his only client. I refer all of my clients in real estate to him. You will not be disappointed!

I'm relieved my bankruptcy process is finally almost over because one of the best parts of it…read moreending is knowing I never have to work with Michael Hoard again. To be fair, my case was ultimately filed and processed. However, the client experience throughout the process was incredibly disappointing. Communication was consistently poor, responses were often vague or dismissive, and there was very little guidance, transparency, or follow-up unless I repeatedly pushed for answers myself. The most frustrating part was spending nearly two months trying to get meaningful updates after my trustee payment had already been delivered and cleared my account. At one point, I was told that follow-up with the trustee was not included in their services and that I could contact the trustee directly myself. After doing exactly that, I later received a response telling me not to follow up with the trustee further -- despite being instructed to contact them in the first place. Bankruptcy is already stressful enough without feeling like an inconvenience for asking reasonable questions about your own case. Good legal service is not just filing paperwork. Communication, professionalism, empathy, and client support matter too, and that was severely lacking here. I would never use this attorney again, and I would not recommend him to anyone who values communication, reassurance, or basic client support during a difficult process.
