First of all, our phone call was returned promptly and Brendon was very flexible to set up a free estimate walk through. We assessed what work needed to be done and he showed us a few additional things that would really be effective for the overall look of the house. So we took his expert advise and we are sure glad we did. Secondly, the price was great. I have had paint work done by friends of mine in New Jersey, you know receiving the friend discount, so I wasn't sure what the price would be using a new company. Well, it wasn't far off that friendly discount price we received in the past. Lastly, they worked around our already furnished home with 3 dogs and let me say they were in and out in a very timely manner leaving everything as tidy or better than it was before. Needless to say, they came highly recommended to us and we are more than obliged to pass on that recommendation.

We hired Brendon to paint our house this summer. The house needed walls, trim, & cabinets to all be…read morerefinished. When Brendon came, he was very personable and kind during the quoting process. We were expecting to get a company that managed the project thoroughly so we did not have to look over their shoulder constantly. That's what we thought Brendon was going to do. We couldn't have been more wrong. Upon starting the project, the crew he sent, Two Brothers Painting, was extremely unprofesional. To start, they did not fully cover the hardwood floors in the house(See pictures). Once we pointed this out, Brendon told us it was taken care of and the hardwoods were cleaned and covered. We went back to the house and were still able to find the paint on the floors with plastic just laid on top of it. They hadn't been cleaned, only covered. We also noticed issues with the wall paint, manly runs, painted over screws, painted over tape adhesive & light areas in the paint(see pictures). This was the first time we asked Brendon to come out to the house to go over the project with us. He declined. The runs and screws were fixed, he told us we would need a 3rd wall coat to fix the light areas and quoted us $4000. We declined. On to the trim, we had purchased 10 gallons of trim paint from Benjamin Moore. The first 5 gallons were put on to the trim over the course of 1.5 days. Once they start on to the second 5 gallon bucket, they realized the trim paint in the first bucket was the wrong color. The paint crew told me they would have to redo all of the trim work and needed additional paint to get it done. I went to Benjamin Moore and told them we had the wrong color, they proceed to test both 5 gallon buckets of trim paint and are able to ensure a color match. They're conclusion was that the paint was not mixed before the painters started painting the trim(see pictures). At no point through this has Brendon reached out to me to discuss additional payment for the trim. In fact, the only time he reached out regarding additional payment was for the 3rd coat of wall paint, which we declined. At this point, our frustration is mainly with Brendon, because we feel the project is not being properly managed by him or his team. We have asked him to the property 3 times so far and he has declined or ignored the requests. On to the Cabinets, as you can probably guess by now, they are a mess. They end up having to repaint the cabinets 3 times. The first attempt, they sprayed them then laid them down before they were cured and left marks in all of the doors. They said they would fix it. The second time, they left the cabinet doors on the frames, tried to sand and prime them, then respray them. This only process left sand marks in all of the cabinet doors. The third time, they almost got it right, but one door is still has a large mark on it. They have to respray that one, so they take it off and leave the house with it, when it comes back, it still isn't right. This was a brand new cabinet door and the seam of the door is completely messed up. At this point I reached out to Brendon to let him know the door still isn't right(see pictures). I have tried to send pictures and get intouch with him about it. His response is to tell me the job is complete and that "any further contact from you will be considered harassment"(see pictures) When it came time to get the bill, Brendon had upped our price by $5000 and at no point did he communicate that additional charge or approve that additional charge through us. It was a massive headache dealing with him and his crew. I would stay far away from Brendon and The House Painters - Nashville.

When we met Hector, we stressed we needed him done prior to us moving in. We asked if he started on…read moreSun., 9/17, could he be done by that Thurs. He said yes. It took 3 days to get an estimate. I assumed it would come as something legitimate. It came in a text, which said "our estimate was ready." I asked him to email it. He didn't. Instead, an hour later, we got another "estimate" text stating he would charge $2,850 for the work & "supplies." I texted the morning of Mon. 9/11 that he could start work on Sun. 9/17 to be done by that Thurs. On Fri. 9/13, we met at our house at 3 to give him the deposit to purchase "supplies." On Sun. at 7 am, he texted to say he was at Home Depot but they didn't open until 8, so he would not be able to start work until 9. I didn't want to get off on a bad start, so I didn't question it. He showed up at 9. All was well until around 12. He stopped work to get lunch, stating he would be back around 5. We didn't want to micromanage him & figured as long as he was done by Thurs., all would be well. At 5, there was no Hector. I had even started painting my office while he was gone. At 5:30 he texted to say he would come in 30 mins. Prior to moving in, we left a key for him to work in hopes it would speed up progress. When he saw I painted my office, he told me he could "give us a deal' on the other painting work I planned to do. I trusted his quote for the extra work would be reasonable. But he hadn't made much progress on the original work. So, adding more concerned me. He left everyday after only a few hours, stating he would come back. While moving, my husband didn't want to damage his wedding ring. He took it off & put it on our master bathroom sink. We assumed it fell to the floor or my husband misplaced it. We looked high & low everyday after we learned it was missing. We've been unable to locate it since that day & no one else has been in our master bath besides Hector. He washed his brushes in my kitchen sink without asking & suggested we should've gotten a utility sink. He used my personal paint supplies without asking 1st. He made comments on things that did not concern him such as "you shouldn't hang pictures on that wall," "do you have sisters/ girlfriends to help with all the work you're doing," "that's too much work for a woman," "did you hang those curtains with the right screws," just to name a few. I had to constantly defend my paint color & design choices against his unsolicited opinion. Before move-in, a cleaning crew came while Hector was on his daytime hiatus. They had to move his tarp to clean our hardwood floors. Paint had bled through the tarp & left dried splatters all over my brand new wood floor. Luckily, I had cleaning wipes to clean paint off my hands during my own painting project. I got down on my hands & knees & scrubbed paint off. When he returned, he denied it stating "It was already there" & "the cleaning crew spilled it." I cleaned it up & figured that would be the end of it. It wasn't. I later found paint on lots of things (new trash can, new bathroom sink faucet, other parts of my new floors, the back of my new toilet, my new marble master bathroom countertop, my new kitchen granite countertops). There were speckles everywhere. Since it came up, I tried not to make a deal out of it. But small specks in many areas became a huge task of going behind him to clean. I even saw him drip paint on my floor while carrying supplies. Thurs. evening, he wasn't finished but left in a hurry. He knew we were coming with movers & left his materials everywhere. We had to move it out of the way. He texted stating he would come back at 4 only to text at 5:30 to say he would see us the next morning. When I asked when he'd be done, he said "maybe Fri. or Sun." My husband said that was unacceptable & he needed to come back the next day. He came & rushed through the remaining rooms. He did just enough to put a coat on the walls & was sure to mention he finished late due to the "extra work I added" (that he begged for). I had paid him nearly $4,000. We found all kinds of imperfections. He said he would come back later & "touch up." He didn't. So, I texted on Tues., 10/10 to set up a time & we agreed on Thurs., 10/12 at 4. That day, he texted at 4:15 "running late" & never showed. At 10, he texted to say he couldn't make it & for me to reschedule for "maybe" Mon., 10/16. At that point, I was done. He then texted today, 10/17 to say he never heard back from me after I had an appointment he failed to keep. This guy will say 1 thing & do another. He's quick to over promise & under deliver. It became apparent early, he's working alone & is overwhelmed. He'll take on more projects than he can handle & then do subpar work. He'll show up late (or not at all) & leave early. I hate to say it, but it's possible he may even steal. We went over & beyond to give him a chance. We accepted his excuses in the hopes he would do better. He failed us every time.
