Terrible service. Stopped in for some samples with my fiance & his daughter. No one greeted us or even looked our way when we walked in or while we were there. I almost lost my temper - that's how bad the service was. For the entire 45 minutes waiting, there was one employee catering to a particularly uptight and needy man named Richard Burgess. I know this because he said it more than once, "I am Richard Burgess. I am the architect Richard Burgess," and so on. Well, Richard Burgess thought it'd be a good idea to bring in some wood to paint samples on, ask the employee to dry it and then complain about how the color didn't match the sample on the wall. I wouldn't have cared, but the employee did not take time to even ASK what other customers needed in between the snide comments from Richard Burgess. All I needed was one gallon of Charwood Deck Stain.... but I waited and waited and waited. The guy behind me needed only a gallon of something as well, but this particular employee could not multitask. Finally, after 30 minutes, another employee came out and started serving the guests that weren't Richard Burgess and I was next in line! "Sorry ma'am, we are out of Charwood. Try the store in the Shamrock Plaza on Druid Hills." The review for the Shamrock store is forthcoming. read more

I got such bad customer service here that I think I chose to block it out of my mind. I was looking for spray paint to work on a project, and had a question, so I went up to the checkout counter with my inquiry. Literally two workers past by me at the counter, making me feel as if I was the wrong color to shop there, if you know what I mean. Eventually, another person came up to answer my question. I ended up purchasing 3 cans of spray paint, that sucked in my opinion, and were over priced. Boo to them, they get one of my strategically placed fingers on my right hand. I will not be spending my money with them again. read more

Extremely helpful staff!! I wanted to re-stain some old furniture, but I literally had no clue (like none whatsoever) on what to do or what all I needed. I went to Home Depot where I received zero help or advice after waiting for literally 30 minutes for "the lumber guy" to come help me. I came here and was immediately greeted by the staff with a smile as soon as I walked in the door. Darris not only took the time to explain to this newbie all of the different techniques and various options, and he wasn't condescending in any way. He made me feel at ease with my first ever staining task. He was so helpful. I will be definitely coming back to this location because of Darris and the entire staff and will put the word out about this particular location as well. I made use of this and another S-W location on North Ave. in Midtown today and yesterday, and in both cases I had professional, friendly service and exactly the product I was looking for (the repeat trip was from a mistake I made). Teresa in N. Druid and the guy at the other were both good, but I did have the opportunity to see the very different dynamic between the S-W that was empty yesterday and the one that was in full "rush hour" today. First, I think it's useful to be aware of which group you are in. There are the professionals and the knowledgeable, usually milling around the place looking disgruntled having already put their orders in queue. And then there are people who look at Yelp reviews for paint stores, like me. We don't know how the system works, if we know what we're looking for it's secondhand knowledge, and we are usually asking the wrong questions or giving information that isn't all that helpful for someone trying to assist you. So I think it would help a lot if people in that second category took a moment to look around before projecting all that home improvement wrath on employees that are probably doing a pretty good job if you just have a bit of patience and come as well-prepared as you can (ie write down all the stuff the contractor says; if you're a DIY person, just be specific about what you are looking to paint and what equipment you plan to use). Maybe write that down too, so you don't get flustered by the variety of colors or whatever and neglect to mention you are painting an outdoors wall or whatever. In any case, great service, and I expect the paint will do fine just like the last time. I'm sure there are times when they legitimately screwed up with customers, but I think they do a good job of efficiently getting you through that one important purchase step of the painting process. read more

We just got two paintings for our home. Kelly, who helped us, was very helpful and nice. She asked the right questions to be able to make the right suggestions as to quality and finishing. She was by herself, but we were the only customers. Very satisfied. read more
