My conference was held here this year and I must say that everything was great from the moment I walked in up to the time I checked out. The front desk staff were so friendly and answered all my questions with a smile. The room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. I also appreciated the late night snacks that they put out on Thursday night cause those came in handy. Two stars for the room itself which was really nice and comfortable. I'm taking away three stars for the lack of service. Unfortunately that's what hotels are supposed to provide. That's why we pay the 300$/a night price, but you all failed over and over to provide the base level of service. As a Bonvoy member, I failed to receive the high speed internet and the two bottles of water per day as usual. I failed to receive my digital key and failed to get my room service order. Instead, I had to go downstairs to talk to the food and beverage manager because you all do not answer the phones at the front desk....ever?!? The ice machines on several floors including mine did not work and there was no other way to get ice. I stayed there six nights and it never got better. What a horrible, horrible hotel. They charged our card multiple times and, despite repeated phone calls and repeated promises, no action has been taken. Funny how quickly they can push through charges but it takes forever to get credited back. read more

I live in Birmingham, but I decided to stay downtown for a concert to avoid traffic after the show was over. This was my 1st time staying at the Sheraton and it did not disappoint. Traffic was crazy getting into the check in area but it went fairly quickly. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Rooms are blah. Leak above our toilet (was damp) clearly from the toilet above. Room smelled like dirty feet. Otherwise it was OK. AC won't go below 68, annoying because it never truly gets to 68. Hot water was set to "hell mode" so expect crazy hot. Valet took 45 minutes to call our car (so far, car still not here as I write this). Definitely wouldn't valet here. read more

Standard Sheraton rooms that appear pretty new. However the hotel itself seemed pretty rundown and not as nice as some of the other properties I'm used to. The service was also not the best. At one point, I saw people get turned away from the front desk because employees said they were on break, but it was odd that they were all on break at the same time. I then heard those employees talking badly about the guests who were asking for help and complaining that they had bothered them during break even those the guests were very polite. I also had a bad experience as I saw a small cockroach in the bathroom shower so that was not great. This place did not have a restaurant so we had to walk to the Westin for snacks or to eat there. The area is not the best as there's only a handful of restaurants and some were not great. Many places seem to stay closed unless there is an event at the stadium across the street. The location is close to the airport and to some attractions in the city, but overall I wish there were more shops or places to eat in the area as everything felt limited or too similar. The attitude of the front desk staff against polite guests was also a big downside for me. The bed was also very firm and a plus was that the shower did have good pressure. They offer community bath products and the room does include a mini fridge which is a plus. However, we did have an issue at 4:45am where a staff apparently opened an emergency exit and all the alarms went off but we never received an all clear or explanation from the hotel staff. I tried to call the front desk from the room phone and it just kept ringing and ringing with no answer. I then tried calling the phone via the phone number on Google and when I asked about the status, the operator was not interested and kept saying she didn't hear any alarm even though it kept going off on our end, so she was not helpful at all. At one point, I went to the lobby to ask the front desk if all was fine and no one was there so it was just such a weird situation. I would hate to stay here again, probably the worst Sheraton experience I've ever had. I tired to include a video of the alarm to show how loud and vague it was. It went off for about 15 minutes but we never got an all clear so we did not know what to do. Very stressful when we had to be up at 7am the next day for a conference. read more

I visited this location 11/15/25. It's in a good location, but the road noise from I20 is absolutely ridiculous. My wife and I tried to get a quick nap in before a play at BJCC and the House Cleaning Man/Woman with the long black hair made more noise than I20. He/She put the lock at its open position and let the door slam next to our room 20 times while cleaning it. I came out to see if kids were running in and out. I asked him/her why are you letting the door slam against the lock, him/her proceeded to ask me if that was a problem. The rest of the Staff was good, but I have no plans to stay here ever again. read more

Sheraton Birmingham - Comfortable, But Disappointing for Loyal Bonvoy Members As an airline employee, I stay in hotels constantly--and while the Sheraton Birmingham offers clean, comfortable beds and a decent overnight experience, there are some major shortcomings when it comes to loyalty recognition. Despite consistently providing my Marriott Bonvoy number at check-in, this hotel does not appear to offer stay credit or points for our airline stays. That's incredibly disappointing, especially considering how much business our airline brings in--often booking 22 to 30 rooms per night. Marriott Bonvoy is known for its loyalty program, and this would be a perfect opportunity to build brand goodwill and loyalty with frequent travelers like us. But unfortunately, this property doesn't seem to see the value in that. The hotel itself is fairly isolated, with limited dining or entertainment options within walking distance. They do offer a shuttle from the airport, which is convenient, and the staff is generally courteous. But given the lack of loyalty credit--something many other hotel brands are happy to provide--this experience feels like a missed opportunity. I would have rated this stay four stars based on comfort and cleanliness alone, but without any Bonvoy recognition, it drops to two stars. read more

Currently under construction - and under staffed. Our room was never cleaned - the entire stay. At one point We had an emergency and needed to contact someone at the hotel and THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE so we had to send the police! We had window washers in our window the entire weekend and absolutely should've been notified that they were going to be cleaning windows. I literally woke up to two men on a platform at my window. The elevators stuck - and at one point the doors closed on and crushed my husband and had to be pried open. Construction banging and drilling all weekend. We checked in on a Saturday night at 5 pm. The front desk was understaffed. We went to the bar at 6:30. The bar and restaurant was understaffed with two workers and 50 patrons. They did the best they could and were friendly. The wait for the car was 30 minutes that evening and 15 minutes the next morning. The water was cold in the shower at 8 am. The room looked like it has been renovated, at least there is no carpet, 3 light bulbs burnt asked for it to be replaced and no one answered (this is day 3), the plugs on the right side of the bed (my right facing the bed) all do not work. You literally have to go down to receptionist to ask for your room to be cleaned (every time you need it cleaned)! I asked them to clean the room Wednesday evening, Thursday I left in the morning, came back in the evening and it wasn't cleaned, today is Friday I just asked again - will see!!! No matter what!! Make sure your room is nowhere near the interstate highway, otherwise it'll sound like a nascar race in your room. I think everyone in Birmingham owns a Hellcat. The Sheraton Birmingham is conveniently located adjacent to BJCC in downtown Birmingham. The location is great since it affords the ability to walk (safely) to many downtown events, restaurants, and the recently added TopGolf facility. There are several restaurants within walking distance giving guests several options for outside dining. The hotel staff is only Lukewarm when it comes to greeting guests. I'm not sure why anyone that doesn't enjoy meeting and greeting customers would opt for a front line position doing just that! There are people that would enjoy that face to face interaction with guests, so find them please!! The property needs a renovation. The faucets are loose, doors don't open and close properly, and the room carpets need replacing. Even if you don't replace badly worn carpet, at least keep it clean! read more

Nothing but Net...rather, Nobody but Net. I was in Birmingham for the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame dinner and ceremony and from the moment arriving at the hotel drenched from being caught in a sudden downpour to a zipper breaking on a backpack emptying the contents just as I get to the desk...gets worse but the best part is a wonderfully calm and patient lady named Net was there to rescue me. I had several issues, all but one my fault, that she happened to always be on duty to make my weekend as great as possible. The only issue not my fault was a faulty thermostat that when I went to the room to wait on maintenance, he was standing at my door waiting on me. Net told me she would insure I was taken care of and she did from start to finish. She kept the long line behind me occupied as I was embarrassed checking in soaked and fumbling to pick up all my belongings. Naturally a one in a million issue with a credit card that was corrected within minutes and once again she saw how humiliating it was for me so she continued to talk to the folks in line which actually saved a little pride for me. As I said, Nobody but Net! She could've easily become exasperated which would've incited a long line behind me to become exasperated as well with all eyes and comments aimed at this 72 year old man. This is not an easy hotel to review. In general I love Sheraton Hotel's however this particular one is in the most inconvenient location other than being downtown. Most of the staff was extremely friendly although some are not quite that helpful. One of the biggest concerns is there is nothing on site to eat or drink. The closest thing is a subway out on the street where you have to walk a couple blocks to the Westin in order to find any type of food or beverage service or Wednesday coffee shop is closed. Also the thermostats in the rooms are set to be able to go no lower than 68°. This can be a problem for some visitors who need the temperatures lower than that. read more

If you want a good night rest, this is NOT the place for you!!! I was traveling all day and was completely exhausted when I got into my room....the type of exhaustion where you can't think straight and you just fall into bed with your clothes on. I just got my eyes closed when I heard cars, a siren and honking...because there is an 8 lane highway right next to my window...like literally right there, I could throw a rock and hit the highway. It was unbearably loud. Finally I fell asleep, but I woke up to housekeeping banging on my door at 8am!!!! I was so super pissed they were banging on my door I wanted to give them a piece of my mind, but by the time I found a shirt and some shorts they were gone. But don't worry, they were back not too long later banging on my door again! To top things off, there is construction next to the hotel, so I was listening to a jackhammer banging away as I tried to go back to sleep from being woken up. This place is an absolute nightmare and I would never stay here again! The reason for 2 stars and not 1 is they have updated their bathrooms which actually looks very nice and the towels are so super soft, they are like clouds wrapping around your body. I had to give credit where it was due. But again, I would not come back here again. Update (a few hours after writing this): the staff came back and banged on my door for a third time today!!! Even with the do not disturb sign out they are still bothering me, and they were very rude when I asked them to stop bothering me. I called the front desk and asked to speak with the manager, the lady at the front desk was rude and I'm pretty sure she didn't notify the manager that I called even though I asked her to tell the manager to call me. @6:58 my friend and I arrived at the Sheraton Birmingham (2101 Richard Arrington jr boulevard). We were checked into room 617 by a light skinned women with short curly hair who looked as though she didn't want to be there. I asked how could I use this stay towards my Bonvoy account.. the young lady brushed us off saying she didn't know how to do it because we didn't pay regular price by booking through a third party. ( I wasn't aware I booked through a third party. I googled the hotel and booked through the first thing that popped up) I said ok we gathered our things and headed towards our room. We opened the hotel room to find some ones personal belongings in it and a very offensive smell. We immediately left after taking pictures and videos because I didn't know if some one was in the room or coming back. After returning to the lobby I asked the young lady that checked us in to speak to a manager. She ignored me and continued what we could tell was a personal conversation. So I sat there for a few moments trying to calm myself down. Then began looking around for a manager. While doing so another another employee called security. An older gentleman dressed in a security uniform approached us and Told us "what probably happened was the room just wasn't cleaned" as if that was supposed to be acceptable.(I honestly wanted to know how he knew what my complaint was before I told him) I then asked him was there anything he could do to fix the situation. His response was no so I asked him to stop speaking to me and find a manager. He then proceeded to tell us we won't be staying there and he's going to put us out. He walked away and He and a few other employees joked loudly in front of other guest about having us physically removed because us quietly sitting in the lobby was causing a scene. After waiting an hour to speak with a manager. While doing so I called to make a complaint with Marriott customer service. The person on the phone called the hotel multiple times and got no answer. A man in a suit named Abdul approached us with security and asked me who I was on the phone with. I told him and asked me to hang up the phone with customer service before he would speak to me. I agreed and asked him if I could speak to him without security being present. My request was ignored. I continued making my complaint to the manger about how rude his staff had been about a mistake they made. I was informed that he only wanted to handle the situation with the room. I guess the issue with his employees disrespect towards customers wasn't important and the fact that some one else's negligence could have possibly put some ones life in danger! He asked me rudely " so do you want to stay here or you going some where else." To keep myself from being frustrated I agreed to stay and asked him for the security officers name as well and the employee who checked me into a room that was already occupied so I could make a complaint. Originally he said mike or something then informed us that he had only been here for 3 weeks. So he wasn't really sure of the names of the employees. He walked us to our room and tried to bribe me with 30000 credits at any Sheraton of my choice. I declined and informed him that id be filling multiple complaints about him and his employees. I recorded the majority of the incident including the manager admitting he's aware that a third party pops up before there website on google as well as him being aware that people are treated differently based on if they book directly through the website versus a third party . As a bonvoy account holder and I've never experienced any treatment like this before. The only reason I booked through google was because the app wouldn't allow me to do a check in for todays date. ( the manager said it's probably due to limited availability) I will not be returning and I urge you to check the website when attempting to book this hotel! read more

So we walked around the building to the front and followed the signs to the atrium cafe. We get to the top of the escalator only to see the restaurant is blocked off with more do not enter signs. No hotel staff even addressed us when we went to the front desk to inquire about dining, just a cop. Forget it. read more

I have to start by saying I thoroughly read these reviews after the booking/before arriving, and I was extremely hesitant! There were three rooms total booked in our party. We all checked the entire rooms out before turning in for the night. No one found bed bugs, but there were several stains around the rooms. I am attaching pictures of the stains in my room. My friend told me she had a stain that was a small pool of dried blood in her room in a weird area. She thought it might've been from a nose bleed???? My mini fridge was left open so it was warm, that was kind of inconvenient because I planned to use it. I just filled the ice bucket and used the cooler I had brought. Shower had really nice pressure. Beds were not very comfy. When I checked mattresses for bugs I noticed my mattresses were very different. Didn't get a very good night sleep. What made it worse was my wake up call was 24 minutes early! When the call is originally scheduled for 4am, yeah 24 minutes too early is a big deal. I was not happy. Front desk staff was very pleasant, they get the stars for this review. For how many awful reviews there are, it is hopeful someone in corporate will take notice and proper actions will be taken. I would give this place a negative rating but I guess this will do. This establishment is below a Motel 6. They don't have complimentary coffee or even a continental breakfast-huh? Too cheap to provide this service that most hotels have for their guests? The breakfast they do have is $19 for cold eggs, bacon and nasty coffee. No shuttle service to the airport for guests- only airline crews. Huh? Airport is less than 5 miles away. Way to cater to your guests Sheraton. I can see guests are at the top of your list. You charge an arm and a leg for a bed and a toilet- no pool, no jacuzzi, nothing other than an over priced coffee place and no restaurant. No lobby to speak of for such a well known Hotel. We have stayed here previously (Dec 2023). Our stay here (March 2024) has shown how fast a place can go down hill. Let me start with a list, then I'll expand on the no1 issue. Problems: Horribly rude staff Poorly maintained gym equipment No AC in gym, gym water filter not working Ice maker on floor not working Rusty water from tub faucet Phone handset in room not working Burned out elevator lights on several elevators: couldn't tell if it was going up or down Let's talk about rude: I checked in the day before arrival via the Marriott app. I messaged the hotel and requested a late checkout on our last day. They happily obliged. Check in went fine. Later in the day I called Guest Services from my room (handset didn't work but speaker phone did) to verify the late checkout. The rude woman from guest services would not even listen to the fact I was confirming a late check but instead continued to just rudely tell there were no late checkouts and they would not honor any. I tried to explain I had a text message to the contrary. She just repeated her mantra of no late check outs. I went to the front desk. I asked lady there is she was whom I had spoke or if she could help me. She wasn't the same person and immediately started repeating the same mantra. I showed her my text message. She continued to give me the same line and when I asked if they were not going to honor this she shifted her ire to where I was standing, behind the counter line, heaven forbid. I asked for the manager, she said she would get him but he was in a meeting and continued to fixate on where I was standing. A man arrived behind her. I said past her, perhaps you can help? Are you the manager? He asked why all the confrontation. As I tried to explain the woman continued to go on about where I was standing, even though I was speaking to her manager at the moment. He checked the system and confirmed we were good to go. The manager was very helpful and friendly, he was what customer service should look like. So, if anyone before the manager had just taken 30 sec to check the system all would have been well. I have NEVER been treated so rudely at a Marriott property. I have been a loyal Marriott user for over 20 years. This was a first. Manager: do yourself a favor, get a better staff or train the one you have in better customer service. I will NEVER stay at this property again if I need a hotel near the BJCC. This treatment is not worth adding by the nights to my level or the points. Worst experience ever! read more

I often stay at hotels and hate writing bad reviews but this hotel is one of the worst. You can't get ahold of any of the staff they just will not answer the phone. And I tried repeatedly so did my friend from her room. No blow dryers in the room. Her room was out of toilet paper on the roll. Maids are extremely rude, and my other bed looks like it's definitely been slept in. The only nice saving grace was Cedric. He brought my hair dryer while my hair was still wet! My one word review for this hotel? "Meh". The place has been updated and renovated. The rooms are nice but holy cow is the service, management and idea of 'service recovery' are absolutely atrocious. Seemingly they have a 4pm check in time, which is absolutely ridiculous. What's even more ridiculous was how terrible the service was. I checked in 'early' and at no point in the conversation was I informed that there was an 'early check in charge'. I didn't know this until I received my bill. If you're a Bonvoy member, don't expect to be answered using the app/chat function or for them to actually HELP with anything. This place is terrible. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

This had to be the worst hotel stay ever. The room was so small and I was given a room adjacent and eye level to the interstate. It was so noisy my family and I got no sleep. I asked for a new room literally after walking in and they refused us another room, on day two I begged another employee for a new room and was granted one. It was bigger and quieter, but the shower would not get hot. This was a very uncomfortable weekend, and I will likely never book here again. The good: - Smell was ok in room, AC works well, linens look ok - TV screens are pretty big, good channel selection, but no Netflix option like many hotels in this price range - Room service is available, though I didn't try it The bad: - Room is rundown (carpet is dirty, bathroom is dingy) - Turndown service is lacking (no replacement of shampoo/conditioner, bed was barely thrown together, no replacement of bottled water in room) - Bathtub needs work (water won't go down the drain, so we've had to shower in standing water in the tub, yuck) - As a Titanium Elite rewards member, was not offered breakfast voucher or points at check-in - The Sheraton Club lounge food selection was ok but quality was low - Overall, my impression was that the employees are underpaid and overworked. read more
