I live in Birmingham, but I decided to stay downtown for a concert to avoid traffic after the show was over. This was my 1st time staying at the Sheraton and it did not disappoint. Traffic was crazy getting into the check in area but it went fairly quickly. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The lobby had the artists music playing and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves at the restaurant/bar.

Standard Sheraton rooms that appear pretty new. However the hotel itself seemed pretty rundown and not as nice as some of the other properties I'm used to. The service was also not the best. At one point, I saw people get turned away from the front desk because employees said they were on break, but it was odd that they were all on break at the same time. I then heard those employees talking badly about the guests who were asking for help and complaining that they had bothered them during break even those the guests were very polite. I also had a bad experience as I saw a small cockroach in the bathroom shower so that was not great. This place did not have a restaurant so we had to walk to the Westin for snacks or to eat there. The area is not the best as there's only a handful of restaurants and some were not great. Many places seem to stay closed unless there is an event at the stadium across the street. The location is close to the airport and to some attractions in the city, but overall I wish there were more shops or places to eat in the area as everything felt limited or too similar. The attitude of the front desk staff against polite guests was also a big downside for me. The bed was also very firm and a plus was that the shower did have good pressure. They offer community bath products and the room does include a mini fridge which is a plus. However, we did have an issue at 4:45am where a staff apparently opened an emergency exit and all the alarms went off but we never received an all clear or explanation from the hotel staff. I tried to call the front desk from the room phone and it just kept ringing and ringing with no answer. I then tried calling the phone via the phone number on Google and when I asked about the status, the operator was not interested and kept saying she didn't hear any alarm even though it kept going off on our end, so she was not helpful at all. At one point, I went to the lobby to ask the front desk if all was fine and no one was there so it was just such a weird situation. I would hate to stay here again, probably the worst Sheraton experience I've ever had. I tired to include a video of the alarm to show how loud and vague it was. It went off for about 15 minutes but we never got an all clear so we did not know what to do. Very stressful when we had to be up at 7am the next day for a conference.

I woke up to window washers in our window - no notification that they were going to be cleaning windows

Currently under construction - and under staffed. Our room was never cleaned - the entire stay. At one point We had an emergency and needed to contact someone at the hotel and THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE so we had to send the police! We had window washers in our window the entire weekend and absolutely should've been notified that they were going to be cleaning windows. I literally woke up to two men on a platform at my window. The elevators stuck - and at one point the doors closed on and crushed my husband and had to be pried open. Construction banging and drilling all weekend. Just a crazy experience the entire weekend.

The Sheraton Birmingham is conveniently located adjacent to BJCC in downtown Birmingham. The location is great since it affords the ability to walk (safely) to many downtown events, restaurants, and the recently added TopGolf facility. There are several restaurants within walking distance giving guests several options for outside dining. The hotel staff is only Lukewarm when it comes to greeting guests. I'm not sure why anyone that doesn't enjoy meeting and greeting customers would opt for a front line position doing just that! There are people that would enjoy that face to face interaction with guests, so find them please!! The property needs a renovation. The faucets are loose, doors don't open and close properly, and the room carpets need replacing. Even if you don't replace badly worn carpet, at least keep it clean!

My bathtub had quite a few hairs from different cultures in it and I had to rinse and wash the walls and the tub before taking a shower, The screws around the toilet don't have covers and the trashcan in the bathroom is dirty and scuffed. When the sun hit the room, I realized how dirty the flooring is. To top it all off the hotel had our checkout time mistakenly for 6:15 AM instead of 6:15 PM and they were calling the room and banging on the door, which woke me up. Front desk was very apologetic and I certainly appreciate their apology and the mistakes happen but the condition of the room and how dirty the floors are was disappointing.

First the good... The front desk staff are welcoming, friendly, and responsive. Looking at you Darrell, Ty, and Tamara! The lower level has updated meeting space that can accompany groups for business meetings or other gatherings. There's also a Starbucks in the lobby and Blazer's Grill downstairs available for dinner and drinks. Now for the bad: There's a systemic issue with maintenance in the hotel. So many of us had toilets that would keep running unless you manually manipulated the handle, or lifted the lid, or toilets that had no water at all. Outlets aren't flush against the walls. I had splatters on various windows and walls and floors that I thought was poor cleaning but it turns out someone had repaired something and didn't do a proper clean-up ie plaster splatters from a ceiling repair on wallpaper, paint or caulk splatters on the corner of a mirror or shower stall. In addition there was something left to be desired with cleaning - hairs that weren't mine on the floor, debris under the bathroom counter, hard water stains in the toilet. I slid a small side table over a foot or two and the under rim was sticky. Because so many people in my group had these issues it didnt seem worth it to try to move rooms. This is apparently just the experience for most at this hotel. Then in the meeting rooms one day it was hot like a sauna and the overhead lights flickered (maintenance came to fix the lights). The next day the meeting room was cold like a meat locker. I expect a lot more from a Hilton property. My guess is being close to the University and the airport with University-related travelers and flight crews staying there, there isn't incentive to do better.

They don't do anything to safeguard your property, they didn't seem to care about crimes committed on their property, I haven't gotten an apology, and they had the nerve to charge me for parking "all night" in the very same parking lot that my vehicle was stolen from- no discount for not even getting a full overnight of parking. The "security" provided is not security at all, it's an employee wearing a security t-shirt that stays inside the building. They don't have cameras. When I asked if this type of thing happened often, I was told "there were two vehicles stolen a few weeks ago during a thunderstorm when it was raining really bad". That being said, safety is not important to hotel staff or management, you as the customer are not important, customer service-non existent, if you plan to stay here for "convenient location", please look elsewhere. You may just wake up to find that your car has been stolen from the parking lot. Based on the lack of empathy, concern, and surprise shown by hotel staff, I can't help but wonder if it was an inside job. I can only recommend you staying here if you are an idiot that likes taking chances. *update- police informed us today- one week later that hotel staff heard the vehicle alarm going off, walked outside to make sure it wasn't his personal vehicle, and saw the stolen vehicle "aggressively reversing and exiting the property".... And yet the hotel staff did absolutely nothing about it. He didn't call police and he didn't tell anyone of this info until days later. This staff member was present when I was in the lobby calling police three hours later and he made no move to tell us these details then. Additionally, it is obvious the vehicle was being stolen at the time because the vehicle drove through the "arm" at the exit while leaving the scene. What great integrity this gentleman has! He clearly doesn't care about anything except doing the minimum to draw his paycheck. I repeat- do not stay at this hotel!!!

Not a bad stay at all…read more It's an old bank and still has some of the old stuff incorporated into the design. It's a cool building on the outside too. Nice remodel into a hotel and very creative as well. I peaked into the rooms being serviced while I was leaving and none looked the same as mine in the inside. My room had a cool mail chute built into the wall. There is also the old directory in the lobby that listed the branch managers and workers that were on each floor. The inside interior design is very well done. The lobby area is so pretty. I love the graduating wall paint. Incredibly cool. My room had some strange nooks and crannies in it that really made it even cooler. There were windows tucked into tiny corners. Tons of uniqueness. The room was clean, well stocked, coffee maker worked, hot waster came fast, and the bed was super comfy. So much in fact, I thought I was home when I woke up to use the restroom in the night. My only gripe is the it's a bit rough around it. Not much you can do about that. The homeless people that are around are sad to see, and there were quite a few. I wish more could be done to help them. It's tough to sleep in a $250/night room and know people are asleep on the ground outside. Not shaming these fine folks, but it is what it is. I'd return. For sure. '26 - 50

I would rate this Hilton property 0 stars if we could. We are loyal Hilton Diamond members and have stayed at multiple Hilton properties around the world. This was one of the worst properties we have ever stayed at. We stayed here in February and from the time we attempted to check in, it was disappointing. We were upgraded due to our Diamond status and upon checking into our room it was absolutely disgusting. The bedsheets appeared dingy and the bathroom was gross. There was hair on the ground and a vomit stain on the tile. So vile! We called downstairs right away and were moved to another room that was not much better. However, we were there for a family function and has other guests arriving that we has suggested the hotel to. We did notify the manager on duty and he told us he would escalate our concerns. The next day, the hotel manager, Tonya was on sight and sat down and spoke to us regarding the issues. She agreed that our experience was 100% unacceptable and promised to compensate our Hilton Honors points for our entire stay. She assured us that she would make this happen. Also, despite our complaints and meeting with her, our room was never even serviced by house keeping our entire stay. Now over 1 month later after no follow-up call or email, we contacted her and at first she acted as if she has no idea what we were talking about. Then she stated she escalated the issue to corporate but was unauthorized to issue more than 20,000 points, which covers absolutely nothing. And stated there was not really anything for her to do! She totally and outright lied to us, after she had assured us in person and in an email that our entire points would be compensated. She even had the audacity to even yell at us on the phone. This is not the type of experience I expect as a loyal Hilton Diamond Member. In conclusion avoid this disgusting and poor quality Hilton property at all costs.
