I have been feeling like the enemy or the devil has been attacking me. And I've morning a lost from a relationship, my cars engine broke down on me, listening to family drama and I'm just like what did I do to deserve this. I am blessed enough to have friends to come and get me to take me to church, and I even walked back home after. Took me 3 and half hours to walk but I needed that. There was plenty of parking in the garage, come early especially since this Saturday they had this performance of the passion play. Great singing and performance by everyone. We took communion. I'm torn by the way I feel. I feel like there is an angel and a demon on my shoulders that tugging on my heart, mind and spirit. I want to do right. So god has it on my heart to lean on him while I am feeling so low. Not going to lie I miss my daughter so much. read more

I wish I had something good to say about today's experience. I went at 11:55am to pick up my child. The reason for me needing to pick up MY child is not up for discussion with anyone! Why am I being told I could not get my daughter that I had to wait 5-10 minutes. During those first 5 minutes another parent comes who received a text for their child. Granted that's more urgent she was assisted ASAP. Even tho I was there before that parent I was never met with let me find someone to assist you getting you your child, I was just told I have to wait. When that parent came out with their child I asked the woman who helped her (the receptionist), why my child can not be brought out to me if I have to go. She said I could only help one parent at a time, to which I responded I was here before the woman you just helped. Finally at 12:17 she takes my portion of ticket to go get my child. That had been over the 5-10 minutes I was initially supposed to wait. I do not appreciate my daughter being held hostage at the convenience of staff! Proper communication would have been nice but I guess you have to come at these workers rude so they could attend to you. Because when I was asking nicely NO ONE wanted to help. My daughter did not walk out of shepards kids until 12:23!!!! Not even then did they open for the other parents to get their children. I also don't appreciate the receptionist assuming I'm lying that I'm picking up my daughter, my daughter was confused as to why she was being questioned on who I was! 28 minutes is how long it took for me to get my daughter from shepards kids! There won't be a next time unfortunately! read more

Shepherd Church Porter Ranch campus is a wonderful campus with many friendly and helpful staff and volunteers. It's a huge building with many, many seatings and lots of parking. They do have multiple campuses. The sermon and worship is live, which I like. The worship team is amazing! Pastor Dudley's sermons are very relatable, relevant and so easy to understand. This is and has been an amazing, great church for my family. ..but - First, Dudley Rutherford is a great teaching and leading pastor, he has great guests. We have grown so much closer to God, to Jesus. We still watch him weekly and try to attend. But here is the issue. We have 2 children and we live about 30-45 min away. Shepherd Church is WONDERFUL for your kids, from diapers to grade 5. But 2 years ago, they abandoned their service to many youth age children grade 7-12. They stopped holding their worship-teaching- fellowship ministry for middle school- high school students except on mid week service. We cannot drive to Shepherd midweek, it takes 1-2 hours in traffic. So our children are totally left out now when we attend on the weekend (usu Saturdays). In place, they have a Bible study class that continues from Wednesday groups- but our kids are left out, they have now lost contact with their friends from Shepherd (their close friends also now stopped attending). I am sure that the cessation of the youth church has affected others, many who attended Sheperd with our kids in K-5 also live far away, we stopped seeing them on Saturdays so began attending elsewhere. We found a great place that still ministers to all in the family- middle school/high school im their own services/classes. This age group is critically important- its the age where many face peer pressures to turn away from God. It breaks out heart, we have voiced concerns to several pastors. We pray they will restore the youth ministry for all, even youth visitors to enjoy and feel they belong I love Dudley and the pastors, we do attend occasionally, our children sit with us. read more

Teach your security guard to show a little respect towards others. Especially a woman who had done nothing wrong &/or even spoke to him. Was coming to talk w/sum1 in front office, but kicked off property instead. How is it ok for him to speak to me the way he did when I had done nothing. Then I responded back the same way & he kicks me off. Only thing he told me was to leave the shopping cart on sidewalk, so I did. Then he comes back when I'm almost @ front door & asks where is the rest of stuff. I pointed to where I put it. Wasn't gonna leave it out in open for sum1 to steal. Anyways, I'm shutting up cause his judgement day will cum & he'll have to answer to God himself. I hope I'm there to see what excuse he gives to our God Almighty. I can't say enough about how much this church has impacted my life. From the very first time I walked in, I felt truly welcomed. I was never much of a churchgoer before, but this community completely changed that for me. Every service leaves me feeling uplifted, encouraged, and like I've learned something new to apply in my daily life. The programs they offer are amazing--there's something for everyone, no matter where you are on your journey. When someone comments "the main pastor selected us to preach on his stage for 5 minutes" as being quite an honor, means the pastor is obviously full of himself. He doesn't like interruptions while he is preaching so if you leave the service, not only do you feel like you are being eyed for doing it, they won't let you return. So accepting, come all, yea right. Not accepting at all. You need to follow the rules to be a part of this church. Heaven forbid you need to use the restroom while Dudley is preaching, you are not worthy to be a part of the sermon if you do. We decided to try Shepherd again, this time in Simi. I figured maybe a different campus with different staff would be a better experience. I was wrong! The doors to the sanctuary was open so I left while they were singing to use the restroom, I came back and the doors were shut. The staff was not allowing entrance. They had a very long winded lady talking about communion. Which I wasn't able to participate in since I left my communion on the chair thinking I would be able to walk back in. After standing in the hallway for 10 minutes for the sanctuary to finish communion, the doors remained closed. They quickly opened the doors as soon as the person on stage said "now we will do tithes and offerings, God loves those that give generously". This is when the doors open and everyone standing in the hall, all of whom previously could not enter and participate, were suddenly welcome to go to their seats and participate. It is amazing to think a church, that is supposed to be preaching gods words and ways, doesn't practice what they preach. Feels like a stereotypical church with stereotypical "christians". I started attending Shepherd Church in 2007, currently attending service at both Porter Ranch and Woodland Hills and I love my church. So grateful for the many sermons that have touched my life over the years. I appreciate greatly our lead pastor Dudley and his many sermons that encourage us to study the bible and apply its teachings in daily living. There is a strong sense of community and hospitality at this church as well as great programs for kids and the youths. The main pastor is not very good. He made snark comments about sound staff for not getting his mic turned on fast enough. "You had one job", you could sense how upset he was. So much for understanding and forgiveness! Wow! He was obviously so upset he needed to make multiple comments about that one mistake. Forgiveness anyone? Obviously not something Dudley is capable of in a moment that doesn't go his way. The staff does not allow you to return to the auditorium if you leave to use the restroom. I guess broadcasting is more important than allowing someone to return if they need to use the restroom. Those of us that are able to make it to the campus are less important to the church. Heaven forbid someone interrupt Dudleys speaking. Again, I guess he is too important and obviously cannot tolerate motion in the audience while speaking or on stage. Amazing he is the lead pastor. I feel they cater to him and his wants. Again, very strange for such a large church to allow one person to dictate at that level. How can he teach the message if he cannot walk the walk. What is more wild is how much they push their online presence. The videography and sound when watching online is terrible. There are amateurs that put out better audio/video productions. They lock the children's center, it is locked off during service. So when you are not allowed to return to the auditorium, you are not able to pick up your child and leave. I had to text my spouse that I was unable to return so we decided to leave. When we met outside, we had to stay and wait until someone could finally open the children's center so we could pick up our children to leave. Having attended a church that was acquired by Shepherd, I saw nepotism at its finest. I guess if you know the right people in the church, are family or relatives of family, you get promoted regardless of whether or not you are qualified/deserve the position. I feel they are trying to be the church that prosecuted Jesus. The members of the church are the most important and their way trumps the actual message. Exactly what the church was that prosecuted Jesus. The sermons are really vague and not that great. No depth to them at all. I have attended many times thinking it was a fluke experience. That was not the case. Just feels like a mega church that the pastor gets rich and isn't very good. Almost like an occult, now I am wondering when Dudley is going to try to get them to drink the kool-aid. The way they praise and almost worship him and his ability is crazy. Hence the occult comment. I have two Church homes. Not shockingly, they used to be one church a long time ago. Shepherd Church, and Rocky Peak. I love Rocky Peak with all my heart. It's an incredible church and if you are choosing a church, you cannot go wrong with them. But you felt it sitting on my spirit to give Shepherd a try. It happens to be closer to my home, and I wanted to find a place that had the same high quality deep context focus as Rocky Peak. Luckily I found that here. And so now, I go to either based on how much time I have available. (Which is crazy to say, you ALWAYS have time available for Christ and God, I just happen to have to be working 65+ hour work weeks until the end of 2024). I moved to PR six years ago from La Puente. My husband is Chinese, and I'm Filipino. We have never experienced racism or micro-assaults at Shepherd of the Hills Church. While the area is predominantly white, the congregation is diverse, as are those who serve in ministry. Racism and prejudices are loosely thrown around nowadays. Those who say they've experienced racism at Shepherd should express their experiences in detail and voice their concerns with the church leaders. If you're a member of the church, read Matthew 18:15-17. Don't sit idle and complain. It's okay to address it accordingly. Those who complain about not being able to sit in the church sanctuary with younger children lack sensitivity for others attending service. Younger children are often disruptive and could interrupt service for those sitting in their area. For those who claim their toddlers learn from the sermon, I find it hard to believe. The target audience and language level greatly exceed that of a five-year-old. Cry rooms, family rooms, preschool, etc., are not new. They're created for this purpose, and you'll find this practice in many other churches/ denominations. The church has 10,000 regular attendees, not because it condones worldliness and sins, but because they practice what the Bible teaches. If they picked and chose, they'd be hypocritical, and the men and women of God who apply the word would leave. Those who feel this church is not accepting of their sexual orientation have not read the scriptures in their context and entirety. Shepherd Church believes that marriage is between a man and woman; refer to Genesis 2:24. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. When we read the scriptures IN ITS CONTEXT, they do not contradict--context matters. For those who think Pastor Dudley deviates from the scriptures in his sermons, I could speculate that one has not exegetically studied the scriptures, two, are cherry picking, and three, twists and want the scriptures to support their agenda. Being a man or woman of God is surrendering your agenda and following God's entire word. My husband and I have been attending Shepherd of the Hills Church for a few years. We were initially hesitant to attend because it was a mega-church, and we continued to attend our prior home church with 30 members. We eventually visited, and it is now our home church. Shepherd of the Hills Church had rather humble beginnings like every other church. We know God is in control, and He grew this church. Shepherd has much to offer for people of all ages and has fellowship and support groups for various populations and struggles. They generously support the community and missionaries all over the world. There is no such thing as a perfect church because it is made up of imperfect people Romans 3:23. This is a great beautiful church. My son and i attend every sunday. Pastor Dudley is great although I disagree with his view and believes concerning the lgbt community and the liberal democratic movement. I have lgbt community realities and friends who are great and whom I see as very stable and admirable humans so i don't understand why the church believes it is wrong considering God made everyone. And as far as the church being involved in politics I never saw that as a very good idea. I don't believe politics and pricing Good and Jesus should mix. I do admire the church itself because it's beautiful and the worship singer are very inspiring but I wish pastor dudley would stay away from politics and from putting down Gay marriage and LGBT isuess. they have been persecuted enough. read more

Such an amazing blessed church. I've been attending Shepherd for several years now, and I am so blessed and grateful God has allowed me to find this church. I truly love how the church focueses on BIBLICAL teachings. Every week they encourage us all to bring our bibles, and teach directly from scripture. They don't try to make up their own rules or interpretations of the scriptures, they teach directly from the text. Due to that, some of the messages may not be all fluffy clouds and rainbows and "politically" correct, but you can bank on the fact that they are relaying God's message, (because they back it up with text directly from the bible. I also love all of the community outreach they encourage and participate in. I've actually known people that were directly affected by the pandemic, (lost employment, etc), and don't attend Shepherd but know I go to this church, and have reached out to me just to let me know how much Shepherd has helped them. From their food drives, to the Christmas tree giveaway, they are really doing God's work and making a positive change in our community and I am so grateful they are here. read more

I'm not sure what happened here. We were invited by some friends and we decided to break from our home church this Sunday to attend with them. I've never experienced such unwelcomeness in a house of God. My husband and I brought our child here and were asking where a section was that our friends were sitting in (they had thought ahead to sit in a more isolated section since we had the baby and arrived shortly after the service started). My 1-year-old made one sound and immediately I was approached by a volunteer and told that if my baby was going to cry we needed to go to the family room. As first-time goers, we told them we didn't know where this was and then were directed to an overcrowded room with families and little ones. Families with young children felt like an inconvenience rather than a blessing. After the service, we found our friends, talked about the service, and walked back to our cars. My husband was approached by someone in a tram asking us who told us we could park where we had. He responded telling him this was our first time and we didn't know. His response? In the future, park elsewhere because it is "gold" parking whatever that means and that it was reserved for a specific population. My husband told him it was unintentional and again iterated that it was his first time. After the volunteer continued to press the issue, my husband resolved to saying not to worry it was our first time and our last. This person then proceeded to leer at me while he drove by me while I waited in the car for my baby and husband. He then circled back around and began talking about us to others onlooking in a car directly behind. I feel really shocked by the whole thing. I've been a church member my whole life, and because my husband made an honest mistake as a first-timer, we were mocked and basically made to feel like we shouldn't be there. I truly pray over this church body and the work the Lord is doing here. I understand misunderstandings happen and this instance may not reflect their day to day ministry. But, where is the heart of Christ? Did he not welcome all who came to Him hungry and thirsty for the truth? It just feels like a shiny, placeholder, for spirituality and nothing like Jesus and who He is and ministered to. I pray that they may find it in their hearts to be more welcoming to newcomers and care less about logistics and more about the heart of Christ. I don't ever leave Yelp reviews but after today's service, I feel as though it is necessary to share my experience. Today's service partially went over Matthew 24 with an emphasis on The Signs (or in other Christian words, the sign of the times). I don't ever have an issue when studying, discussing, and even learning about the sign of the times. It's important for us Christians to understand the different stances on eschatology and when Jesus will come back. As service continued, Pastor Dudley made various uneducated and to be quite fair, ignorant statements. Let me be clear, after this service, I can 100% confirm that this Church is Pro-Israel. It's not hidden; it's right there. Go to enough services and listen to Pastor Dudley and you will see his enormous support for Israel against Palestinians. As service continued, Pastor Dudley tried to tie in the Israel-Palestinian conflict into today's teaching of Matthew 24. At one point he said something along the lines of, "I mean, look at these Arab nations going up against Israel." My jaw dropped and I looked around to see if anyone else noticed this ridiculous sentence. He also looped in Iran as an Arab nation going up against Israel, which if you know your history, Iran is NOT an Arab nation. This was appalling. And if Pastor Dudley had no knowledge of who was an Arab nation, it would be best if he had not said anything. I'm trying to understand, but I'm assuming that Pastor Dudley has this warped idea in his head that an Arab country is a Muslim country. That could be the only explanation I can think of. I do not expect Pastor Dudley to be a perfect Pastor, but today he has shown that he is ignorant about Arab countries and that he has a clear agenda to push with the current conflict in Gaza. I wouldn't go as far as to say racist; but ignorant is a better term unless he purposely does this.. It breaks my heart that this Pastor would speak this way about Arab countries and blatantly ignore the genocide in Palestine. Arab nations going against Israel???? How about Israel's genocide toward Palestinians! It's sad because there are MANY and I mean MANY Arab Christians and even our Lord and Savior was born in the Middle East. We have been going to shepherd for a long time now. This includes my friends and neighbors. Pastor Dudley is wonderful and his sermons are amazing. However, awhile back there was an incident In the parking lot where a man was cursing and violently berating people in the lot. And the security guard wasn't doing anything about it. He was just standing there and watching. Not a good experience at all. There also is an obnoxious person In the 11 am service who is always disturbing and making loud comments. This person is loud, disruptive and it's very annoying. It's like they have to validate everything the pastor says, word for word. For a while we stopped going to church for those reasons. We decided to go back today but the same disturbance is still going on. If everybody starts talking and making loud comments while the pastor is speaking, what is that going to be like? I know a lot of people who feel the same way. We just want to come to church, hear the pastor and Gods word. I hope you will do something about this. read more

Service times vary depending on location. Online Option: If you are unable to attend in person due to being out of town this is convenient. Parking: Ample parking if you arrive at a decent time. If the lots are full you can park across the street where the shopping plaza. Cafe/bookstore: Conviently located at the church. You can grab a bite or drink before or after church. So devastating to see some poor reviews here. Too often disappointed voices ring louder. You can't please everyone and that's not what a church is for anyway. I've attended this church for several years over two campuses. So much to love--like the lead pastors who are sincere and teach the Bible truthfully and simply. They truly love their members and call us to share that love with others, and they do their work with excellence. All the staff they hire seem to truly love God and are sincerely walking the walk. Yes, I've had encounters with staff pastors over the years that made me feel awful with no justification but that's 2 out of 10 more obviously flawed encounters, but who isn't flawed, right? Pray, speak up in love, forgive, and be a blessing. This church has given me opportunities to grow in faith and use my gifts and talents to serve God and others. I continuously learn and receive truth and accountability here. Personally I love most the diversity here. Seriously everyone is welcome. You will hear truth and experience God's goodness & grace. That is church y'all. And this is a praying and Spirit-led church, I can tell because I experience it when I walk through the doors and even during my week leading up to hear the sermons. I don't get or feel a connection with any of the pastors or staff. It just doesn't feel right when your pastor wears sports jerseys or hats while teaching from the Bible . Or constantly and consistently talks about tithing. Or puts down other religions to claim what they do is not right. It may doing something right for other folks but this isn't the place for me or my family. read more

I've moved around a lot but Shepherd Church has my heart. I watch online every Sunday. I got baptized back in 2017 and have been going or watching online ever since. Dudley is such a blessing, the perfect fit for Los Angeles. If you're looking for a word, you'll find it here. There is no place like this church and the worship is incredible. read more

I understand that this review may not be for everyone, and I completely respect that people have their own beliefs. For those of you who are looking for a church that is all inclusive and diverse Shepherd Church may be a good fit. I've been part of the Shepherd family for 20 years. The environment and experience at Shepherd is unique in the sense that even on my lowest of days I can't help but feel lifted up and inspired. I grew up going to private school and often questioned some of the things I was taught. In actuality it often felt like I was being told to think or act one way when I didn't agree. When I found Shepherd Church as a teen I didn't feel judged by my choice of clothing or the fact that I had tattoos. To me it was all about the spiritual fulfillment I needed. Yes I've made some pretty dumb choices in my life (ok really dumb choices) but having a church that can help overcome some of life's obstacles has helped me become a better man. Pastor Dudley is incredible when delivering his sermon. The way he connects the scripture to modern day is easy to understand and absorb. The talent that leads us in worship is so gifted that you can't help but hum the songs all day. The church itself is so giving to the community hosting holiday toy drives, outreach to the needy, and 4th of July fireworks just to name a few. read more

Shepherd Church - Churches Near Me - Porter Ranch, California

Moved to Porter Ranch little over 7 years ago and decided to give the church a shot since it was so close to us. Well could have not asked for a more amazing church and amazing pastors. Pastor Dudley doesn't shy away from tough subjects and this isn't a PC church but message of love is never lost. The people who attend resemble a picture of United Nations, every race, color and gender worshiping together the way good lord wanted us to coexist. Assistant pastor Jeff is just as amazing in his own style. I have two kids who have been going there for years and they can't wait for Sunday's kids programs. The worship band resembles a professional Christian band that would charge for admission. If you are looking for a church, I would HIGHLY recommend. We moved to Santa Clarita over 5 years ago but continue to make the drive to Shepherd at Porter Ranch cause we love our Church. read more

Shepherd Church - Worship group in action - Churches Near Me - Porter Ranch, California

Until last month, I thought of Shepherd as a great church. After attending the church over 10 years, I grew to love & respect all that the church was doing outside church walls & the programs they offered. More importantly, coming from a very conservative Christian background, I appreciated the pastors bible-based teachings & messages. Earlier this year, I noticed a shift in his messages & deliveries to intertwined with political opinions or views. For a minute I thought I was probably reading too much into this until .... my response to a post. See pictures. Clearly, I am not the only one disappointed. It appears (based on other posts) others are having similar experiences. Unfortunately, I do not believe Shepherd to be representative of a church I thought to be inclusive, accepting, & respectful of its members. read more
