These guys are AMAZING! I HIGHLY recommend!!! I'm busy and don't have time for appointments that are behind schedule and drag on for a long time. I get treated like an absolute RockStar (which I am not!) every time I am in I'm welcomed warmly and my appointment time is honoured. It is a fast paced office full of patients (sign of a good practice, people don't come back to crappy service and no results!) but Dr. Jay and his crew always make time to answer my questions with regards to my condition. It's been a year since I've been to Shepherd Health. I began going in about the Plantar Facitiis and calf pain in Sept 2015 - we were in the process of moving to Calgary at the time, and I had just found this clinic as it does ART. He talked about how he was going to get me running again. Had to go in twice a week, for double treatments - charged for ART, charged for some other treatment. While the initial problem was lessened, it was never fully dealt with. After 6 weeks, I had maxed out $1000 of health benefits plus paid extra out of pocket. I was rushed in, rushed out. He spent no time asking me how I was feeling, how the initial problem was. He seemed more concerned about getting me booked in for the next treatment, but not with finding out how everything was going. On the last visit, I was put with some chiropractor who was helping out - can't remember his name. Told me I was in stability runners, which was probably causing my problem - I am a neutral runner, wearing NEUTRAL runners (Saucony Progrid Rides) that a retired chiro recommended to me, and I wear orthotics for my high arches. Didn't seem to know me, know my history or seem interested. Also, my ITB started acting up again, and no treatments for this either. The support staff / techs are all nice people, very pleasant to deal with. Sometimes came across like they didn't want to work here. Overall, his ego appears to be very healthy, until I advised him I wouldn't be returning. He kept calling to book me in for my next appointment, and I had to advise him that I wouldn't be coming back. I tried to politely explain that my benefits had maxed out, that I couldn't afford his rates, and now lived southwest so his hours/location were not convenient. He was very surprised and VERY willing to work around my schedule and financial abilities - not something he really seemed concerned with prior to my departure. My suggestions to this clinic owner: 1 - take down all the signed pictures, as it comes across as an ego wall - are you there to treat patients or feed your ego because you're that insecure about your abilities? 2 - ask your patients at each visit how the initial issue is - is it getting any better, how do things feel? 3 - rethink your pricing strategy 4 - ensure you really appreciate your staff. If you're looking for a chiropractor, keep looking. Jay Shephard is unprofessional and highly distracted. If you'd like to hear about his personal problems and how little sleep he's gotten, and then let him adjust your neck, well, you're braver than I am. You will be nothing but a dollar sign, and you will be brought back twice a week forever. He won't ask you if anything has changed, he won't advise you to do any exercises at home to help yourself out, he will bring you back again and again until your benefits and finances are completely exhausted. If you're lucky, you might feel a little bit better. If you're smart, you'll save a lot of money and find another clinic that pays attention to its patients. read more

Do NOT work here! Jayson Shephard DOES NOT PAY HIS WORKERS. Whether you are an employee or a contractor, he will come up with every excuse in the book. He might be out of checks, he might be waiting for a payment to clear, he might be waiting on insurance (which should NOT delay payment for employees who he is legally obligated to pay). Sometimes you'll get a fraction of what you've earned, just so he can keep you temporarily placated. One thing that is certain: YOU might end up waiting months, if not years, to receive what is owed to you... if you're lucky! So many previous employees and contractors have had to go through the legal system to get what they're owed, out THOUSANDS of dollars and scraping to make ends meet. The funny thing is, we know how much he charges his patients, we see how many people come through the doors, and we know what his overhead costs are. This guy easily clears 7 figures a year and has been in business for 3 decades. HOW ON EARTH do you not have the funds to pay your workers on time??? Shame on you, Jay. Shame. On. You. And before you respond to this with some BS about "false accusations of a libelous nature", this is all true and you know it. read more

This clinic is a rip off. Dr. Shephard takes a whole lot of money and gives no satisfaction or relief of pain. I would not recommend this clinic. You are rushed in and out and all he is after is your money. I was very disappointed with Shephard Health. I had no results from the treatment I received. I spent a great deal of money at this clinic for both pain and weight loss and repeatedly expressed my concerns about no results. I was rushed in and out of my appointments with hardly time to ask any questions and when I did ask I was told I had to be patient and I would see results, however, never did. I finally decided I could not waste anymore money with something that did not work. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Jay and was told he wanted to make me happy, but he did nothing. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. I went to this clinic for almost 3 months and had no results and spent approximately $2800. with no plan to cover my expenses. I put my trust in Dr. Jay Shephard feeling sure he would help me because of his assurance directed to me, but never happened. read more

This is an awesome place to find assistance in recuperation. I had bad sciatica pains, groin pulls, 'was in major pain w. my right hip and Jay and the team got me back into fighting shape. Jay is a chiropractor, 'it's his clinic and he and his team also do something called "flossing", 'it stretches you out and puts things back into place in a way I have not experienced before w. about 25 years of on/off chiro care. Melissa is in charge of the "laser treatments" which really speed up your healing & she is also called on regularly to help w. the stretching out or "flossing" of the muscles. A regular treatment is $60. if you don't have a plan & the laser is $40. so it's probably in line w. most other mid range clinics. The clinic, 'located in the Kensington Professional Bldg. is always busy and they have 3 receptionist buzzing about keeping the schedules running smoothly. Everyone is relaxed, super friendly, 'it has the energy of an extension of a gym and there are endless signed pics on the walls of athletes fr. every genre,.. and also a multitude of celebs. There isn't an iota of attitude in this place tho, and they always do their best to get you in if they can. They must have about 8 treatment rooms, 'you always get to lay on a heating pad for afew min's to loosen up before your treatment and if you have had bad chiro experiences as I have, 'this is so completely different and nurturing. There are TV screens avail in one or two rooms to catch up w. sports too if you're sitting for your 30 min's w. your laser pads stuck on your body. I love this place & think you will too. read more

I agree 100% with Catherine R. Dr. Jay does not care about his patients and whether or not they get better. If you choose Shepherd Health, you will get a 30 second appointment where Dr. Jay cracks your back twice, charges you an insane amount, and then forces you into another appointment. He acts like he cares about his patients by asking unrelated questions such as "How is your summer going? How was your weekend?" without actually asking about injuries or problems. Dr. Jay and the Shepherd Health team only care about making money and booking as many appointments as they can. I just got back from Shephard Health and could not be more frustrated. I just spent a lot of money on a "service" that took less than 5 minutes! The only reason I went to him is because he's very close to my home but I'd rather venture across the city than go to him again. I feel very harassed by their phone calls (they call you constantly to get you to come in) and the front desk employees' don't seem to have any idea what they're talking about. I didn't expect them to have a full background of information on chiropractic care but when I asked a question and got a blank stare I expected to get the answers to my questions from the "doctor". Another mistake. I was rushed in and out like nobody's business. This place is nothing but a money grab, the more patients the more money, no wonder they want you in and out so fast. I think the doctors are too busy daydreaming of the new toys they'll buy with all of their money they get from us. DO NOT and I repeat do not take your hard earned cash here, it's a waste of time and money. read more
