Some patients' reviews here may be frustrated with costs but I think there is no better investment than investing on oneself. Having a game plan is key to understanding the entire process, including financing. Tar Heel Periodontics is not in my insurance network but after consultation with the understanding of what's involved and inquiring coverage with my insurance company, I planned and prepared for the entire process from surgery to nutrition to follow ups. After having done all my routine checks/cleanings, etc for many years with my prior dentist, of…read morewhom has 25 plus years experience in dentistry, I moved to Raleigh, NC at the end of 2014 and was referred to Dr. Anderson. She noted some problematic areas (potential cavities), which were the same areas noted by my previous dentist. Attention to these areas were not imperative per my previous dentist because they were at the very beginning stages. The last filling by Dr. Anderson consisted of drilling and drilling and more drilling. Over the next week, there was excruciating pain on the same side of that filling. I went back to Dr. Anderson after speaking with her regarding the pain and there was more drilling. Over the next few days, I still had problems with that side of my mouth. To make a long story short, it was determined that I had a fractured tooth. How did I go from getting a filling to now having a fractured tooth and needing a crown! The next week I spoke with Dr. Anderson and I explained to her how I felt regarding the constant drilling and that her actions may have played a part in my tooth being fractured. She repeatedly told me that she was a fair person, how she puts herself in her patients shoes and she repeatedly asked me what could she do to rectify the situation. At the end of the call, we spoke on splitting the out of pocket cost for the crown procedure and that she would consult with her attorney on how to write the charges off for the office. She stated she would call me back the next day. Two to three days later, Dr. Anderson called to tell me that she went back to viewed my file (not that she talked to the attorney about how to write off the bill) and because I waited one year before getting my final filling done (from when she initially told me I needed the fillings) that caused the fracture. This was now her reasoning. This made me question Dr. Anderson's character, integrity and judgement. I no longer trusted her nor her ability to do the crown procedure with integrity. In my opinion, Dr. Anderson handled the entire situation unprofessionally and her lack of experience (in my opinion) played a huge factor in this issue. It is very disheartening that my first horrible experience with a dentist was with Dr. Anderson.
