I came out after checking in, and went to load a cart. Starter was not at the podium (which had a tip jar?), but was on his phone and sitting next to the podium facing away from the carts. When I asked if I can load any cart, I hear him say "No", which is fine, but took a minute to finish his game and then get up to give me a key. He pointed at the cart I should use, and I went and loaded it myself (what's the tip jar for, if not going to be helpful). ~Cart had a cooler on it, but no ice in it ~We had about 20ish minutes before our tee time, so we were trying to rush to warm up, but the starter said "You guys have plenty of time" ~We started warming up and ~12 minutes in, the starter begins yelling our name to tell us to start our round ~Starter did not tell us pin position or anything, but found the info on a board ~The score cards do not have a good view of the greens/pin positions, so just winged it COURSE: ~Tee boxes were nice and flat ~There weren't many scenic or particularly nice holes, but overall it was well maintained ~Bathroom available after hole 4 and 8 (same bathroom/portapoddy) ~You loop back to the clubhouse at the run and the 15th tee is next to the clubhouse) Overall, it's an okay course, but for the price point, I'm not surprised that the course was not that busy on a Sunday during peak season.

A great little ropes course for having fun in Luray…read more There's a moment when climbing when I realized "wait, I didn't have to sign a waiver for this. Either they're reckless, or so confident in their course that I must be safe." Needless to say, I felt safe on the course. I weigh over 200 lbs. and the harness held me when I hung on without putting my feet on the ground. Also, the tracks are designed that the only openings for you to come off is at the entrance and exit. There's a great little training course just a couple feet off the ground. A good place to start with children and understand how to move the harness around when encountering other climbers so you can pass the other without getting harnesses tangled. There are various challenges throughout the course that range from easy to moderately challenging. These include static beams, to tightrope walking, or to swaying bridges or ropes. I wouldn't say anything is too hard. I think the Level 1 challenges were a little more manageable than the ones higher up on Level 2. The only one that genuinely scared me was a Level 2 spot to walk out on a beam, out over everything else (spoiler, the beam rocks up and down). The whole course crisscrosses so you can skip one challenge and still get to another one past it, and there are two staircases for moving between Levels 1 and 2. Fair to say, this is not for people with a fear of heights. Child #2 preferred the lower level, though he tried a few higher up. Child #1 is fearless and did most challenges 2 or more times. It was windy that day, so it was a little more daunting at times. One guy passed us on the way down from Level 2, clearly a little nervous. No judgment here. Know your limits! If it's not too crowded, you could do the whole course in 25 to 30 minutes, but we spent about an hour up there and had loads of fun. Would absolutely go again.

During my visit, I witnessed the course operator make a female guest cry. Her child (maybe 5 yrs…read moreold) was new to the country and didn't speak English very well. He came to the exit and the operator disconnected him before his parent could explain that he couldn't get back on. When the mother asked for an exception due to the language barrier, she was told that if he's going to be in America then he need to speak English. He then left his post to confront another guest who was nearby that told him his behavior was very rude. She told him to get out of her face and to walk away and he refused. Meanwhile, there are multiple people waiting to exit the course because he was too preoccupied trying to intimidate a woman. I've never seen an employee represent a tourist attraction so poorly. My family and I won't be coming back nor will I encourage any of my friends to go. But if you're looking for something new with a side of sexism and racism, have at it.

I will admit I love animals and get really excited to see them at zoos, even if some habitats I have seen here and other places don't seem adequate compared to the well-funded Smithsonian Zoo in DC. However, this small rescue zoo was 100% worth the trip. The owner has been running this place for at least 30 years given that the vulture has been there since 1996. Even Steve Irwin visited here in 1998 and complimented the place. The owner was very kind and briefed us on all the monkeys that could possibly throw gravel at us, and that one monkey hated cameras. There were SO many snakes so if you have a reptile-loving child, please take them here. The best part in my opinion was the petting zoo portion at the end. Buy the $3 feed cup when you get the admission tickets. There were goats, sheep, alpacas, and emu that you could feed. They were all gentle when taking the food, but the goats were aggressive with each other fighting for a spot by the fence to get food. It was quite fun and would be a blast for kids.

The horses were gentle, well cared for, and perfectly matched to Us. Our guide, Ella, was absolutely incredible. She made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived and took excellent care of us throughout the entire experience. Along the trail, we stopped to watch several deer, which was such a peaceful and magical moment. Then came the biggest surprise--we arrived at a beautifully decorated table that had been set up for our engagement. It was absolutely perfect, and everything was arranged so thoughtfully. It couldn't have been a more romantic setting to propose. A huge thank you to Lisa and her Team for helping make our engagement so memorable. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine excitement for us made the day even more special. They place the round bales same place year after. This causesmold and muck to build up around the feeders. Horses here receive inconsistent care, it appeared that it depended on whom what's feeding. There were days where it seemed the horse was rode without permission, saddle marks and perspiration when the horse hadn't been ridden by the owners for months. If you board here be prepared for everything you own be covered in dust. The big barn attached to the indoor is hardly watered and the aisle-ways are loose dirt. Pros: Plenty of trails. The other boarders are generally nice and welcoming. The town of Luray is nice quiet town to visit with a couple of good restaurants and breweries.

They didn't charge us admission as it was a soft opening weekend and we just went for kayaks not to hang out on the water front. The two ladies working the rentals were super nice. Lake Laura is pretty small but it was very serene and still water for swimming or kayaking. Parking lot is tiny and I could see this place getting super busy in the summer, we arrived just as the opened and the lot was nearly full. They also have a trail around the lake which we walked part of. Overall would come back, I thought it was relaxing.
