Picture it in your mind's eye... a Costco-like warehouse that sells nothing but fireworks at discount prices. *Shelton Fireworks enters the scene* Can I get a HOO YAH! BTW, this is the world's largest fireworks warehouse. Lemme tell you what, I was mesmerized from the get-go. Fireworks of all different styles, sizes, and colors stacked high and tight from floor to ceiling. I never knew so many different types and brands of fireworks existed! Cakes, cannons, rockets, missiles, poppers, twisty toy-like ones that shoot balls, sparklers, firecrackers... the list goes on and the options are plentiful! Roman candles galore! Who knew that there were over 15 types of Roman candles?! I sure didn't, but at the astounding price range of $2.50-$7.00, I grabbed one of each. HOO YAH! I also picked out some cakes and cannons that looked promising because they had badass names like, 'The Punisher' and 'Blue Panther'. They were so reasonably priced, I couldn't pass 'em up. Very little self-control was practiced so everything that caught my eye ended up in my basket. 'Murica! The lines were understandably long; it's Independence Day weekend. But, with so many registers open the wait wasn't bad. And they even threw a few handfuls of freebies into my bag, which was really cool! Say what you want about the state of Alabama. When it comes to fireworks...they DO NOT FUCK AROUND! I was driving on the 10 E out to Pensacola and saw this huge ass red barn looking place that said "Shelton Fireworks". I had to stop. I pulled up and was in awe of the sheer size of this building. I later found out that it is THE largest fireworks warehouse in the World. I walked inside and my jaw dropped. Think of a Costco sized space with all fireworks. As far as the eye could see! Every and any kind of firework you could dream of was here. 6 foot tall rockets? Check! Snakes and Sparklers? Check. Mortars, artillery shells, ground flowers, parachute fireworks, smoke bombs etc. Any kind of firework you could think of, they have that shit here! Guaranteed! Since fireworks are illegal in most parts of CA, I decided to stock up and buy a shitload to launch off at some point during my stay in the great state of Alabama. I asked the workers there about where you can launch them and they pretty much said "On private property with permission from the owner of the land". That means that I will be making friends with one of my soon to be coworkers just so I can use their land to unleash my fireworks I purchased. Younger dudes were stocking shelves and younger girls were unpacking boxes. There was one lady working the register. They even give you free shit when you buy something. I bought my fireworks and one of the young guys grabbed a handful of shit and said, "Here is some free stuff". Right on bro! Right on! Can't wait until I get to light some of these bad boys. Want to buy fireworks? The good ones? - Here's the place. I've come here a 1/2 dozen times over the past 10 years. Whenever I'm looking for a stunning New Year's Eve display, this is the place I come to. Two years ago, I bought a solid 10 minutes worth of fireworks for about $300 for our new year's eve party. It wasn't Tom Brown's, but then again it kinda was because the explosives didn't attain the same altitude so they kinda looked Tom Browny. Frankly, it's remarkable what you can get here. Driving up to the building (you can see it from what seems like 2 miles away), you realize it's damned huge. At first, I thought it was simply a double-wide behind a big billboard but that is NOT the case. The interior offers evidence of significant structural overengineering. (or, perhaps, not overengineering, but design suitable for containing the entire inventory in the event of some cataclysmic detonation!) Sure - we've bought our fireworks from various parking lots around town - but for some additional zest, I highly recommend stopping by and reacquainting yourself with the awesome stuff that we all played with as kids. One last word: "M-80's" haven't been available in the U.S. legally for a good long while. However, read the following, lifted from Wiki: " In 1975, U.S. federal regulations were passed to limit all consumer-grade fireworks available for general sale to the public in the United States to a maximum of 50 milligrams flash powder, down from a previous maximum of 200 milligrams. However Firecrackers mounted onto a rocket stick, or other aerial firework devices, such as rockets, Roman candles, and cakes etc., may still have significantly more, up to 130 mg, or more, depending on device and classification, and can be legally purchased by any American civilian citizen."
