I bought a Guilt City 2 session voucher to go to Shellie based on the positive reviews here on Yelp. However, I did not get to have Shellie, I had Joey instead. Today's acupuncture session was the worst acupuncture experience I have ever had. First of all, Joey decided to do a "scrape" thing on my back without telling me, without talking to me about the benefits or letting me know what would happen from it, or even giving me any bit of a choice in the matter. I LITERALLY ALMOST FLEW OFF THE TABLE AND YELPED WITH PAIN. Now I have HUGE welts that look like insane bruises all over my back which she informs me tonight when she calls to check to see if I'm ok because she accidentally hit a nerve and I had intense pain after the scraping (more on that in a second) and she told me that these MARKS COULD LAST UP TO 2 WEEKS! You think she's explain this to me beforehand, right? I'm really upset about this. My back looks like it was ASSAULTED and I was suppose to wear backless dress this weekend. Next, she hit a spot on my back that literally hurt the ENTIRE day. I've had a lot of acupuncture and this has never happened to me before. When I asked her what happened, she only replied with "I don't know". It wasn't until I talked to Shelly in the reception area did I get any advice on to arnica the spot that was still hurting after Joey needled it. ALL OF THIS AND I DON'T FEEL EVEN A TINY BIT BETTER. Shellie offered me a free session to make up for everything today and kept insisting that Joey is a GREAT acupuncturist. I said NO THANK YOU!!! read more

I have been seeing Shellie Goldstein in both of her locations for a few years and I am completely thrilled with her service. Shellie is extremely knowledgable and professional and has helped manage my back pain as well as treatment to my lungs when I was struggling with a very bad bout of an upper respiratory infection. I recently went to Shellie for cosmetic accupuncture because I had read on the Internet that Martha Stewart had consulted with her. During the consultation she basically said not to expect any significant changes or any at all. However, I had read that accupunture is being used for cosmetic purposes and took my chances. First mistake was not taking before and after pictures because I guess she knew there would be no changes. She indicated that her fee were higher than what she had previously quoted me. At the end, I noticed no change whatsoever in my facial wrinkles (glabella, nasolabial folds, etc.). It was a complete waste of $1,700. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR COSMETIC PURPOSES. read more

I'm an athlete and participate in Triathlons multiple times a year. During the winter I have to do a lot of my training inside. But because I am going inside and outside a lot, the bizarre weather has been making me stiff and sick. I've been feeling dry, congested, and sore. Right after my session I started feeling better. But it wasn't until the next day after a good night of sleep that I felt AMAZING. I was an acupuncture skeptic after having a very unpleasant experience several years ago. However, someone recommended I meet with Marisa A. to help with some recent sleep problems. I am so grateful for that recommendation. Marisa is knowledgeable about more than just acupuncture and I felt like she was treating me as a whole person rather than treating a symptom. She also took time to ask questions about my health and my concerns and she was so sensitive and understanding when I explained my worries and my distaste for needles. For my first treatment she was very gentle and explained everything she was doing and why. She seemed to really take her time choosing the right points for me....and she does this EVERY time I go in. I've been seeing her now for a few months and feeling better. I look forward to my appointments with her. She is so positive and so thoughtful, giving me advice on nutrition and sleep hygiene as well as connecting me with additional resources. Marisa is such a generous soul. I never thought I'd enjoy being stuck with needles, but I just feel so good when I leave her office (which has a very serene and almost spa-like atmosphere.) While pricey, it's so worth it for me. A few months ago I went to consult with Shellie Goldstein about facial acupuncture after having a series of 6 treatments from another facial acupuncturist in private practice and not seeing the results and progress I was hoping for despite being highly recommended. While my skin is considered to be in great condition by most and I only experience minimal breakouts that are mostly hormonal in nature- my right cheek still showed remnants of previous acne scars and drop in collagen which I was told could be resolved with time with acupuncture. Upon meeting Shellie- I was impressed with her knowledge that seemed well beyond the scope of most acupuncturists and impressed with her treatment options. She suggested a package of 5 90 Min sessions that she stated would include one or more additional treatments - blue light/dermarolling/masks/ etc at her discretion. Mind you these treatments aren't cheap- 500+ a session depending on if you use her or another staff member less experienced. Even though I hadn't budgeted out for Shellie's rate- I didn't see how it would make sense to see a person less experienced so after initially committing to 60 min I changed my mind at the end of the first treatment to 90 min package. I of course requested she take before pictures so I could see my progress. It more or less went downhill from there- The second visit I found myself unusually late after transportation issues and had called ahead to forewarn the office.. they didn't make an issue of it but also didnt' bother to tell me a patient was right after me which resulted in me losing a whole 30 min of treatment which I accepted since it wasn't their fault I was late but I would have appreciated them warning me ahead of time so I could have at least rescheduled. But after that I made sure to be extra early to each appt thereafter and I was. Shellie would ask me every session what progress I had seen - and although I noticed less redness (more balanced skintone) and a few minor wrinkle lines around eyes lessened- I still wasnt seeing the improvement on right cheek or where other minor scars were present I had hoped for. Still I kept hopeful. One thing that bothered me was that shellie was hardly checking up on me as I'm receiving the acupuncture and one of the sessions one of the needles came out and I called out to her but she never came in. She always seemed rushed - perhaps because of back to back bookings and seemed to respond with irritation any questions I had. But she was always eager to sell me on more sessions, more products, etc. The kicker came when I arrived for my final prepaid session #5 (but technically 11th acupuncture session since I had seen someone else previously) and Shellie was running behind schedule about 10 min past my scheduled appt time. I checked my watch before and after the treatment and was shocked to see that she had the nerve to not only stop me 10 min before my 90 min treatment block but also start me 10 min late!!! To add insult to injury - when I requested to see the before pictures she refused to show them to me noting she would show when I booked my next series of sessions! I wanted to speak up but didn't feel like she cared one bit about me since she had already gotten paid- and not to mention tipped on top of that. As a spa connissouer and and having been in various aspects of the service business I expected way better treatment!! What on earth would compel me to buy more sessions after being strung along like that. And btw- I found out from a plastic surgeon that the lift in my cheek was not something that could be achieved through acupuncture- they said the only thing that would possible achieve that besides a face lift was repeat sessions of microcurrent and recommended I look into a home device.. read more

I have been getting facial acupuncture for years and decided to try Shellie after reading her book. She was since the beginning very surface and always rushed. Her technique was great so I brushed her attitude to the side. I bought a series and as the series was ending she suggested that I buy another and come weekly- at $180 a week I told her that didn't fit my budget or schedule and that I could only come every other week. She then had a literal fit and instead of having me change into the usual towel wrap told me to just lay on the table. What happened next is utterly horrifying - if you can believe she actually stabbed the needles into my face so badly that I was bruised for two weeks- and she only did about half the amount of needles. She then left me in the room for so long that I had to call for her to come and get me. When she removed the needles she did it so quickly she left three in!
