I'm bummed but it's only worth about 35¢ savings on the fill-up.

When I was a kid, Southern California used to have so many gas stations, or service stations, as we…read morecalled them. As time went on and oil companies swallowed one another, the number of stations shrank. Some corners near my parents' house used to have three gas stations. No more. While across-the-street competitors are still fairly common, they don't actually seem to want to compete, as there are those stations--actually glorified repair garages that also have gas--with prices so high that no one would choose to buy gas and only gas there. As electric cars have become more ubiquitous, the trend of dying gas stations has generally continued. Except that in the past three years or so, eastern L.A. County seems to have all these new--or at least new-to-SoCal--brands: Egas, G&M, Berri Brothers, etc. This station recently appeared at a storied corner in La Mirada. I believe it was a Mobil back in the day. It has a garage and small convenience store, but you come here because the gas is cheap. Not Costco cheap, but cheap nonetheless. Gas is generally ten cents cheaper per gallon when you pay with cash. The cashier isn't friendly, but he's not mean or gruff either. He's just stoic.

They had $3.79 on the Gas Buddy app, $3.85 on the big electric sign on the corner and $3.95 at the pump. Just put what it is. I drove here from Sam's because it was closed for repairs and I needed gas and it shows a great price... but when you get there it's not true or accurate.

I highly recommend Rulas Tires in Santa Fe Springs!…read more These guys really took care of my family and, most importantly, they were honest with us. We had a tire issue that another tire shop recommended resolving by replacing the tire at a cost of approximately $400. Rulas Tires took a look at it and determined that all we needed was a simple patch -- $10 and we were back on the road! I've been a Firestone customer for over 26 years, and while we've definitely had our disagreements over the years, this experience reminded me of something very important: sometimes you just have to do what's best for the customer, not what's best for the business. That's exactly what I felt Rulas Tires did for my family. They didn't try to upsell us, they didn't take advantage of the situation, and they didn't try to turn a simple repair into an expensive purchase. They just took care of the problem and treated us right. That kind of honesty earns my business. Rulas Tires in Santa Fe Springs will be getting my family's tire business from now on. Thank you to the entire team for putting the customer first and taking care of my family. You definitely earned this 5-star review! Martine Family -

Most…read moreeither didn't have the tire in stock or quoted me over $460 installed, with a 24-48 hour wait to order it. Costco quoted me $359, but the tire would take 3-5 business days to arrive, and I would still need to schedule an installation appointment afterward. I simply didn't have that kind of time. I called this shop, and they had the tire in stock and ready to go. Even with installation, my total was only $220--still not cheap, but nearly half of what other shops within a 10-mile radius were charging. If you're looking for a Pirelli tire and need it quickly, give them a call. Excellent service, great pricing, and they saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you so much!

My problem is that none of them were approached by an employee. Not at check-in, not anywhere. I (a young woman) spent a *little* extra time because I couldn't find my credit card at the stall (I've been a regular here) and I was approached by a male employee who proceeded to tell me how to use a card reader like I was an idiot. Seriously, I told him when he walked up "I don't need help I was just trying to find my card." And he proceeded to LURK and then say "you swipe it in, then pull it out." HELLO?? If you were equal opportunity condescending then ok that's you, but I watched, waited, and noticed if anybody else got that treatment. Ladies you'll spend years getting your PhD and be a doctor only still for some random guy to treat you like an idiot on sight because he thinks his 3 extra inches gives him some kind of leg up. This Circle K has persevered over over past violence (middle 2000s) in the store. Kudos. On the Mobil side though, they can improve with replacing the windshield washer liquid with clean liquid.
