Even if you do have to line up, you're usually no more than 3rd in the line. If you're not familiar with the joy that is the Costco Gas Station, there are some rules you MUST follow. First of all, there is only one direction. You can't come in the exit and pull up to a pump.... we all come in from the same way. Also, they have extra long hoses, so if you need to pull up to the wrong pump (on the wrong side of your vehicle) it will definitely stretch far enough and NOT have to pull across the roof of your car and scratch it. And finally, don't pop your hood and try to check your oil. Oh and don't try to wash your windows. This is not a service station, it's a gas station. End of story.

Have made it a habit of now getting the gas on my way home in the evenings instead of getting ripped off every morning before I head out of town. It's totally their prerogative to price the gas wherever they want, but I just think it's sleazy. Every night when I drive back into town, it's 'magically' back down to what it was the night before.

It's seems that since the switch over to Mobil they are more concerned about wringing every penny out of their customers. They seem to be taking the tricks from the Shell station around the corner by jacking up their prices first and sometimes for no reason as the area stations don't then drop them the next day. It used to be that the Shell station was the first to raise their prices and last to lower them now it looks as though Mobil is trying to beat them at their own game. This may seem like more of a rant than a bad review but since they have gone from good to bad I feel it warrants a two star review if for nothing other than what seems to be blatant greed. I will look for fuel elsewhere.

There's a little Kiosk here where you purchase your tokens and they sell a few snack items, gum, etc. This location also has fuel for your cars. Perhaps that's what Hughes is most known for in general but to my kids is the car washing mecca ;-)

It was (at the time I was there) around 94.9-99.9/L for gas at most stations in the city. This station was 91.4/L. Not sure why this station was cheaper, but I welcomed slightly cheaper gas prices. This gas station has a car wash as well as a Tim Horton's. I went into the conveince store to use the washroom, which was clean and well maintained. The store itself is nice and new. This gas station is new and it definitely shows. The station is on the southside of 137Ave, so it's easier turning right into the station (if you are heading east on 137). If you are coming west, there is a set of lights up ahead, and you can get to the station from 149 Ave. I'm not often on the Northside, but if I am I'd definitely check this station out. Hopefully they have cheaper gas prices all the time.

There's also a magazine section, car items including windshield washer fluid, and instant food items. The prices aren't as high as I would expect for a convenience store. Sometimes they have a special on 2 litre pop if you buy 2 of them that is similar or cheaper to what you would pay in a grocery store. Although I don't come here often, it's nice to know if I need (or want) a treat, I don't have far to go.

Major stress to find that Hughes petroleum had new nozzles on their propane hose which would not longer fit on our angled inlet. Since we were on our way out of town for the weekend, major stress ensued til we found Primrose Husky in West Edmonton which had the older [multifit] nozzle. This may apply to many older campervans.

However it has its limitations for many reasons: prices, exits, difficult traffic flow and busy drive thru. My usual ploy is to buy lottery tickets once a week when I need something quick like milk but hope to need a fill up near another gas station due to the price of fuel. I often walk the kids to this location for ice cream or Timbits if they need a snack to keep them quiet on a long drive. For these reasons and the location I think this has to be one of the best for our area. If you know to watch the gas prices and the awkward tragic flow that is created by the exits it can be enjoyable.

Another positive is that they have the little switch you can flip down to keep pumping so you can get back in the car and attempt to not get frost bite on your bare hands while pumping gas for 5 minutes in -40 degree weather :-) God Bless Costco & Costco Gas. I'm glad they have a gas location in the north side now. Lineup is not as long as the south side…read morelocation, so wait time is minimal. My only qualm is that there are 3 pumps per each side, so you have to be good with parallel parking if the middle pump is free in your lane. The good thing about Costco is that it doesn't matter which side your fill tank is on because the pump hose can extend to the other side of your vehicle if needed. There's also no windshield wiping supplies at Costco gas pumps, I guess it keeps them efficient, but it's something I expect at any gas station. Otherwise it's an easy self serve with your Costco membership & MasterCard. Plus their gas prices seem to be one of the lowest in town! One suggestion I would make is that if you decide to fill up here, exit at the back of building to avoid the pedestrian traffic & the 2 way stop at the building's front entrance which takes forever to exit from.
