Never any parking during regular business hours and everyone always after me to buy Costa coffee!

I'm not one to typically review a gas station. This one, however, has saved me on more than one…read moreoccasion when I've left a downtown club at 2am and found myself running on gas reserves. Bottom line: it's downtown, and it's open 'round the clock, so every club-going Calgarian needs to know about this particular station! 4* instead of 5 only because I once stepped in a small puddle of gas here and ruined my favorite pair of dance shoes. Not sure this is the fault of the station, but still...

A service station is tough to review, since we often take them for granted. We show up. We gas…read moreup. We`re gone again. So its hard to rank one over the other. However, there are a few basic points that make me happy that this particular Victoria Esso exists: 1. Location, location, location! I live in suburbia in the SE, so it is very handy to have a gas station at close and easy access on the way home. 2. It has a drive through car wash. 3. It has 3 access/exit points, so the parking lot is rarely a gong show with people trying to come and go. 4. It has a convenience store, which at times comes in handy. All and all, few complaints here with the location and services. My only concern is that there are, at times, homeless people that cause a minor disturbance. Not often, but it has happened on more than one occassion. In my opinion, this happens pretty much anywhere downtown, but it is a consideration with this location over the burbs. No fault of the business, but its definately a part of doing any business in downtown locations.

I get super paranoid when I go to this Shell, I think I have been watching way too many movies, but…read morebecause it sits on 17th avenue and 5th. And I usually fill up at night, I think someone is just going to come along during their evening of partying, light up a cigarette and throw the match in my vicinity as I am filling my car up with gas. Or the other scenario playing on a constant loop in my brain are the several park tables on its lot where I know people like to hang out; again the same image of me filling up and them throwing their burning match at my vicinity. I know, I know it is silly but I am constantly thinking that while I am there. Other than that, this station is really convenient for me; I can gas up whilst leaving my home or whilst returning home. The guys working here are fun and friendly too, they have a lot of regulars I notice that just come and like to hang around and chat with them. The last time I was in one of their friends/clients was moon walking in front of the cash counter. So to sum it up it's a clean, convenient stop for gas, car and transmission lubricants, plus my cardio gets its usual Tarintino workout.

The Rangers patrol the YYC strip during the summer, which consumes a great deal of fuel. They are easily identifiable by their two-wheeled Zords and matching leather jumpsuits. In all seriousness, there are a lot of sport bikes at this Shell station. It's morphin' time. Form of... a triceratops!
