Review: Inedible Food and Abysmal Customer Service Rating: 1/5 Stars I had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience at Shelby's in Oakville. I ordered the chicken shawarma with sides of salad and fried cauliflower, but what I received was completely inedible. The Food Quality * Burnt Cauliflower: The cauliflower was charred black like charcoal. It was so badly burnt that the bitter, burnt taste ruined the entire dish. * Poor Preparation: The salad contained massive, unchopped pieces the size of my palm. There was clearly zero effort put into food prep or quality control. The Service Experience When I returned to the store to show them the meal, the experience went from bad to worse. While one staff member began making a replacement, the manager intervened and--after a phone call with the owner--refused to provide a new meal or a refund. The staff actually began arguing with me, claiming their fryer is "timed" and therefore the food "must" be perfect. They essentially accused me of lying about the quality because I "didn't like the taste," despite the fact that I was holding charcoal-black vegetables in front of them. The Resolution It was only after a lengthy argument and my statement that I would involve the police to recover my payment for the inedible food that they finally issued a refund. To top it off, the manager made a scene and flatly refused to provide his name or the owner's name so I could file a formal complaint, eventually telling me to leave the premises. Summary: I have never been treated with such disrespect as a paying customer. Between the burnt food and the hostile management, I will not be returning. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values quality and basic customer service. read more

My realtor was shocked upon hearing I didn't know what a Shawarma was. Though understand, I'm a Texas moving to Canada so I know my burritos and bbq, just wasn't familiar with Shawarma (or poutine but that's another story). Had a late night kunafa craving and didn't feel like driving all the way out to Kunafa's in Mississauga so I came here. Not too bad for a place that doesn't specialize in this dessert but the texture could've been a little better. The top was shredded phyllo dough which usually equates to crunchy kunafa but it wasn't crunchy :( The taste was pretty good though! Personally, $9 isn't really worth it when you can go to smaller Palestinian bakeries and get the same portion and authentic quality for way cheaper. I liked that it was made fresh to order and came out pretty quick despite having a small rush. I would come back to try their food but wouldn't re order the kunafa. read more

On our way back from an even my nearby, we stopped by on a Sunday evening. The location was busy. Staff busy preparing food, we assumed it would be quick takeaway. First the limited options for vegans and vegetarians. Second after we ordered we see that the cleaning and cross contamination protocols were perhaps being not followed. So we had to tell the supervisor that we were vegetarians and vegans and wanted some gloves changed and prepping area cleaned for our food. Kudos to the staff for accepting that request for us - but not for in between orders. The food came out 50 minutes later. We were tired and ate in. The vegan falafel wrap was OK. The only redeeming thing was the bread. All else we can get elsewhere cheaper, faster and perhaps tastier. The vegan falafel bowl - again disappointing and exactly as above. The quantity was as well disappointing. The quesadilla was good. Halloumi does not stick as mozzarella and also falafel does not go well in a quesadilla. Our bad for having tried this combo. We had great expectations after watching so many shorts for Shelby and we were taken by all the hype. read more

Legendary Shawarma indeed. Quite possibly one of the best wraps I've had even since moving to the GTA. The whole Shelbys experience is just so refined. From the point of ordering, to unboxing your shawarma, to your last bite... everything is just so well through out. The Shawarma: The freshly made saj bread has the perfect elasticity that gives it a nice bite. The open flame that they use prior to the press also adds a nice hint of char to the wrap. The chicken, fries, turnips, and the garlic sauce just comes together so well. This is also the first Shawarma wrap that I've had where I was able to finish it without needing a job. The Kunafa: So delicious. Nice cheesy, flakey pastry soaked in a very light syrup that doesn't overpower the other flavours. Oh and the pistachio. Price is also unbeatable. Really wish this was open when I was at Brock. read more

This food was delicious. It came relatively quickly and I had a whole wrap to myself. I ordered it with spicy garlic sauce and beef bacon and beef shawarma and throughly enjoyed it. I also ordered the zaatar fries and they were delicious with the sauce and seasoning. The vibes of the place and branding was great. Watching the YouTube shorts really gave me an idea of what to expect but I loved seeing the Pepsi called Diet Bebsi on the receipt. Would go back and my family often caters from here for parties on the weekend. Definitely would recommend anytime you want a great and tasty meal read more
