Horse Boarding and Riding Trails Close to Birmingham (no ATVs or hunting)
Welcome to idyllic Shel-Clair Farms, a family-owned and family-operated boarding and riding farm located in Vincent on the border of St. Clair County and Shelby County, just thirty minutes outside of Birmingham, Alabama.
Whether you're looking for a place to board your horse or you just want to ride your horse on our scenic trails and get away from it all for a day, you've come to the right place.
We are open year-round for horseback riding. Bring your horse and enjoy 12 miles of well-marked trails over 1,000 acres of this historic farm. Along the way, you'll likely see some of our friendly neighbors--the rabbits, ducks, deer, and wild turkey who wander around the property (Shh! Don't tell the cows; they think they're the only ones here).
History
Established in 1972.
The Bearden family has been farming in Shelby County since 1929, when J.E. "Ned" Bearden started a dairy farm in Helena. His sons started Shel-Clair Farms in Vincent in 1972 and ran a dairy operation until 2005, when they transitioned to a row crop and beef cattle operation. They added the horse trails and horse boarding in 2007.
Nestled in the Appalachian foothills, the farm includes rolling hills, creeks, forests, waterfalls, and more. There's enough open space to lose yourself-and your troubles-for a whole day.
The Bearden family has spent decades laughing, relaxing, and enjoying the company of good friends on the farm. We invite you to come enjoy it, too.
