I'm so incredibly happy with my new prescription and the lenses that I had created through Dr Gandia's office, I had to tell you all about it. A few years earlier I had a very thorough exam, prescription and lenses created by another very well respected optometrist in Lihue, at the cost of about $200 more, and they were not as accurate or as perfectly focused as these new eye glass lenses that Dr Gandia and her great staff have now created for me. I was given a full battery of tests without any up-charges, unlike my optometrist on the mainland. They have a large collection of fashion frames at prices lower than my office on the mainland. Yet, Hawaii is not a place for major purchases--things ain't cheap here. I phoned a local 1-hour optician and ask for an appointment, until I'm told that eye exams run from $180-$1,000. Then, I have to purchase the eyeglasses! So, I'm bracing myself for a major expenses for eye and exam and 1-hour eyeglasses and in desperation, I phone Dr. Duane Rowe at COSTCO and I'm told that exams are generally $100. We get an appointment for the next morning. Dr. Duane is friendly, very competent, and saved us many hundreds of dollars! With his eye exam, he also fitted my wife for contacts and provided her with a trail pair. Also, he speaks Spanish really well. Not common in these parts. OUTSTANDING (located inside COSTCO, tho you don't need a member to enter for any eye appointment.)
