When I followed up about the status of the estate, he responded, "The more I have to respond to you, the more time it takes from getting the work done." On another occasion, he told me, "I wish you would let me do my job." I understand that attorneys are busy and that estate administration takes time. But when you work with families navigating the loss of a loved one, there should be a basic level of professionalism, compassion, and respect. Instead, I was made to feel like a burden for asking reasonable questions about a process I was paying him to handle. Losing my mother was already an incredibly painful experience. His lack of professionalism and compassion added unnecessary stress and hurt during an already difficult time.
