For nails - I always go to Naomi. Love her work, nails last me a minimum of 3 weeks and she is super sweet. It's best to make an appt. as it gets very busy. Today I had my hair done - went in as a Walk in - only waited about 20 min; which is not bad for a Saturday. Everyone was very nice and attentive. My hair was set and blown out by Rochelle - I have very thick, curly/coarse hair - she did an awesome job!! read more

Called around 3, said we'd be able to be seated for a cut in 30 mins....don't even get to sit in the chair until around 5:30/6ish Lady spent about 5 minutes cutting my bottom layers, then just started giving me a blowout. I got charged $45 for cutting my bottom layer!!! It was absolutely horrible. When I got home and washed my hair out I found uneven layers! Funny cause I went to them so they could just blend my layers lol. Maybe this place is great for nails but definitely not for a haircut. read more

I really wanted to say I liked this place, especially with all of the beautiful nails that I saw by Racquel on Instagram. it was gorgeous to look at definitely, but the customer service was awful. They let me sit there for an hour-- all I wanted was a gel manicure. I called beforehand and they said it would be no problem to take me in now. The woman who started to take off the previous polish on my nails, was very rude to me. By the time I finally spoke up, and ask them what was taking so long the woman started speaking Spanish of which I can understand completely and didn't even look me in the eye and told me to leave. She sarcastically apologized for the inconvenience. I will not return. As a note of advice to management, it's best to take care of your clients before teaching others how to sculpt on your own nails. read more

After she finished I looked at my nails from afar and wasn't too pleased.....I never voiced my unhappiness but she followed by being rude and stating in Spanish "well that's what u wanted and im not changing it" not once did she suggest fixing it. MIND YOU IM PAYING FOR THIS. ITS NOT FREE! Ive seen her do better & I feel that because I wasn't spending $80-$100 as they charge for gel builder she didn't attend to me as well. Terrible experience. I made an appointment with the owner, Reyna, who is a very warm, charming and chatty lady. The salon was empty except for myself and 1 other client. I asked for a root touch up and blow out. After Reyna colored my roots, she decided to go out to buy food and leave me in the hands of another lady that works at the salon. Reyna came back 30 minutes later and washed the color out. Below average wash experience- lots of water in my ears. Reyna then gave me the worst blow out I ever had and flat ironed my hair and applied lots of greasy product leaving my usually dry Hair looking oily. If this wasn't bad enough, she burned my skin with the flat iron (yep I have a burn mark now on my hairline & almost burned my ear skin off with the blow dryer. I washed my oily hair the very next day only to find that she caused serious heat damage to a big chunk of my hair. THIS WAS THE WORST HAIR EXPERIENCE EVER. Stay away from this mess of a salon. read more

I went last week Friday before a wedding to have my hair cut at this salon. The reviews, photos and video on Instagram painted a picture of a well put together staff and amazing results. I saw how well Nelsy did hair so made an appointment and saw her. I scheduled for a long layer hair cut and balayage. LONG LAYERS. Nelsy told me she couldn't color it because the ends appeared damaged. I give one star for that because she could have easily colored my hair as it was. I admit there was some damage on the very ends, typical split ends. She seemed to be in a rush and treated me as such. The hair wash lasted about a minute or two and she only really scrubbed 1/2 my head. She rushed me to the seat and cut my hair wet. I have really curly hair and told her I would prefer to cut it dry but she didn't listen. She cut my hair with me looking away from the mirror and when she was almost done I realized she cut about 5 inches of hair. 5 inches! No matter the damage not everyone's hair grows the same. If I said long layers I meant long layers! Not an effing bob! She didn't want to do my rollers because she said it was "too hot" but I overheard her saying to the receptionist that she was done and didn't want anymore clients. I wish she would have told me that when I scheduled the appointment. I would have came in a different day, where someone would have taken their time. She directly blow dried my hair which took her all of 10 minutes. I never direct blow dry my hair because my hair type doesn't respond well to that. I don't even think I was there an hour. The haircut cost me $55 and it was not AT ALL what I asked for. Now I have a mushroom haircut after having hair that was half way down my back. I give 1 extra because the owner was a real sweet heart. I drove all the way from New York to go here and left with a TERRIBLE haircut. I normally am not one to go out of my way to post a review, but I felt that after my negative experience, other customers or potential bridal parties should be aware on all social media platforms. I originally went to Reyna (the owner of Sheek Studio) back in April of 2018 for a bridal trial. Everything went absolutely perfect. I showed Reyna a picture of how I wanted my hair and makeup and she delivered. After paying $150 for a bridal trial, I decided to book my entire bridal party with her on the spot, which was a total of 13 people. When I booked the appointment, Reyna gave me her number and ASKED ME to text her on the spot so she could save my number and agree on the price she had set, which was $180 per bridesmaid. Reyna also asked me if we were interested in a "Bridal Breakfast", which included champagne/breakfast in the salon the morning of the wedding for a set price of $365. I said yes, and told her that closer to the wedding date I will confirm the breakfast. Two weeks leading up to my wedding, I realized every other wedding vendor contacted me to finalize details for the wedding. However, the salon NEVER ONCE called me or even texted me to confirm the date and time. I ended up calling Reyna myself to confirm the appointment, to which she tells me she can't find the reservation and that she's booked to do another bride's hair and makeup that morning, but not to worry, because she will be back by 9:30 AM to do mine in time. This left me feeling uneasy, but I thought I could take her word and I did. Via text that same day I confirmed my appointment, I CANCELLED the "Bridal Breakfast". Now here is where things continue to go downhill. First, the morning of my wedding, my party of 12 and I get to salon at 7 am. Reyna, her two daughters and a few salon workers were present. Everything seemed like it was going to well until I saw tons of food and champagne open and set up for us, to which I say, "Reyna, I told you via text that the bridal party already ate at the hotel, and we wouldn't be needing breakfast". At this point Reyna just says "Its cool" in a condescending way and asks one her daughters to put it all away, while her other daughter just rolls her eyes, crosses her arms and sucks her teeth (real professional and polite "customer service"- I guess in their world). Then, Reyna leaves and says she'll be back to do my hair around 9:30 which I thought was fine, because she suggested the bridesmaids should go first (which I thought made sense as well). I reminded her I needed to leave at 11:30 AM because the photographer and videographer were getting to my hotel at noon. Reyna DOESN'T get back to the salon until 10:30 AM and I don't end up leaving the salon until 12:15 PM. She didn't apologize, didn't care that I paid for these other appointments and continued to work at her own pace. On top of that, the salon started taking walk-ins, EVEN THOUGH my entire bridal party wasn't done, absolutely ridiculous! Here is where I REALLY LOST ALL RESPECT FOR THIS SMALL BUSINESS. Four of my bridesmaids brought in THEIR OWN clip in extensions to make their updos fuller and instead of paying $180 (as per our agreement in writing via text), the salon worker charged $10 per clip in, causing some of my bridesmaids to pay over $220. I'VE NEVER IN MY LIFE have felt so scammed and taken advantage of. It was my wedding day and I was determined to just laugh it off (which is exactly what I did). I enjoy supporting small businesses, especially when owned by women of color. Our hair and make up came out ok but rushed. However, my 12 bridal party members and I will NEVER return to this business because this is NOT the way you treat clientele. This place lacks CLEAR communication, organization, professionalism and BASIC manners from the workers. read more

This place is horrible! Went for a consultation for a special event I had waited almost 2 hours just to be started on. The lady that washed my hair was extremely rude and burned my hair when she blowed dried it. Since she wasn't the one who was going to style my hair she was very careless. And the make up horrible as well. These people are not professional make up artists. I looked like a clown with 3 pounds of make up on my face. I would suggest to be more considerate to your clients. She really has the artistic gift to make you look and feel amazing when we sometimes lose sense of ourselves since we're always busy being a mom, a wife, a hard worker and etc. Carmen along with Reyna, Nelsy and etc each have their own style but end up with the same slaying results. These fine ladies have skills and our open to try new things and keep up with the latest trends. They all know how to make you look fabulous and are never a disappointment. This place needs to be more organized and honor appointments . I called over a month ago to my event to schedule a make up appointment. The owner Reyna told me they opened at 10 am on Saturday and I schedule my appointment for that exact time. My daughter's baptism was at noon that day .I get there at 10 am only to find like 6 girls are waiting to get there make up done. I told them I had an appointment at 10 am and they told me so did everyone else. I waited an hour and they were still working on the same 2 girls. I don't understand why they offer appointments and schedule 6 people at the same time and only had 2 girls doing make up and hair. I saw the bad reviews previously but I figured I give it a chance because the pictures I saw on Instagram looked like there work was good. I am not a salon type of girl. I hate waiting to do anything to my hair. My hair solution is to put it up in a bun or to leave it loose. However, as charismatic as Reyna Sheek is (the owner of Sheek Studio) it is kind of hard not to get sucked into getting some glam do! For one, this salon is super chic and trendy. (which is surprising considering its in Passaic) Her salon is a full service salon that provides makeup sessions, hair cuts and hair do's as well as nail service. This place has a team of 5 people all with different talents. Moreover, Sheek Studio has their own makeup line called, Sheek Makeup. The eye shadows and lipstick are very pigmented and good quality. Her prices are moderate for her services. Another plus to this place is that they do makeup classes that are available to those who RSVP. This place has charismatic energy and its a guarantee that you will walk out feeling like a million bucks. My one con is the eternal struggle for parking. Called and made an appt 1 week ago. Specifically told the owner while making the call that it was for my daughter's homecoming dance. LEFT WORK EARLY and arrived 1:22pm for a 1:30 appt. When we went in, we were greeted by a female and asked what services we were there for. Told her we had a 1:30 appointment, cut and re-highlight the tips of my daughter's hair. We were told to have a seat. That was the only communication there was until I finally stood up at 2:40 asking if they knew what was going on and to remind them I had a 1:30 appt. The client that was sitting in the owner's chair (the only colorist in the salon) was finished and gone and a lady that came from out of nowhere was sitting in it at that time. The girl that greeted us went to speak with Reyna the owner. They come downstairs together and still didn't explain to me anything or give me an option to go grab lunch or something or even look in my direction. I finally go to ask the girl once again what's going on and she said "It's because it's bad time management" I explained to her that my daughter had somewhere to be at 7pm and asked how long everything would take. She had no idea and had to go ask Reyna. I finally was ablento speak with Reyna while she was putting extensions in that 2nd client. At first she said it is a long process then said we'd probably be out by 4:30pm. She saw I was upset and frustrated with this long wait and lack of communication but again didn't apologize for any inconvenience. she asked if I could come back (tomorrow) I reminded her of my daughter's school homecoming dance that was taking place in a few hours. They finally took her at 3:11 pm!!!!!! She did the cut first. I was asked if I wanted layers in my daughter's hair. According to her it's $70 forna cut with layers and $30 for a regular cut. I have never in my entire life of getting my hair done paid extra for layers. I have been to some upscale salons in northern NJ and a cut is a cut. I told her a normal cut was fine (needed to save time) It took from 3:11pm to 6:30pm for a simple cut and some highlights in my daughter's curly hair. They were highlights half the size of her head or lower. They weren't full highlights. It took insanely long. Her hair was washed and from there my daughter was done. Wet curly hair. No products as a finished result. Washed, wet, half highlighted curly hair and we were ready to pay. $202 Yes. That is right. I have never in my life been scammed before and this lady just did. Making up her own prices. $165 FOR THE COLOR??? $30 FOR THE CUT. THE REST, TAX. Like her electronic receipt says in my text, CUSTOM PRICE. WHAT A RIPOFF. How are the results? It's not the color we asked for. It's mediocre. Nothing to rave about. To sum it up...EXCESSIVE wait time, horrible client service, extremely expensive for mediocre results. This review is for the new Nutley location. Horrible, horrible service! No one introduced themselves or even spoke to me during my manicure/pedicure. They were having water heater issues, so the water in my pedicure bowl was cold. The techs seemed distracted the whole time even though I was the only client there. While I'm waiting for my nails to dry, the woman who did my pedicure left without saying anything, and the one who did my manicure was having her hair done and couldn't be bothered to check up on me. So I had to stand there and wait until someone noticed me to even pay! Their credit card machine was broken but no one told me! I didn't have enough cash on me to pay and give tips and while I was trying to figure out what to do the cashier told me whatever it's fine and rushed me out the door. I heard of Sheek Studio via social media and browsing through their pictures, I loved their work. I figured I'd go with my mother for a hair and makeup trial for my brothers upcoming wedding. On our first visit, the staff was polite and they made us feel welcomed. After our hair and makeup was done, very pleased with their work we scheduled an appointment for the day of the wedding. My appointment was for 11am but I arrived at 10:30 am. It was a Saturday and the salon was filled with customers. My mother and I waited patiently until 11:30 and a little worried that we would not make it out at 1pm, I went up to Reyna who is the owner and asked how long she will be for I had the wedding to attend. She states her exact words" So does the person in front of you and the people in front of them, so what do you mean?" Taken back, I responded "I booked an 11am appointment almost a month ago " She states oh okay well it's going to be 30 more minutes , I asked if I will be out by 1 she states yes. About 10 minutes later another hairstylist started on my moms hair , while I waited. They did not begin my hair til 1pm! and I left the salon at 2pm and Reyna did not do my hair and another stylist did. I would not recommend this salon, I did not appreciate her rude remark nor did I receive an apology for waiting 2 hours! read more

The most unprofessional place I have ever gotten my makeup done in. I booked Sheek Studio for my engagement party after seeing such beautiful makeup photos on their instagram. True example of how social media is misleading. I booked an appointment for myself with the owner Reyna and for my sister and my mother who I was told would have one person each to do their makeup at the same time slot of 5 pm. We called ahead to say that we would be 15 minutes late because we were running late in traffic at that time of day. We get there at 5 15 and Reyna is not even at the salon and nobody seems to know what she is doing or when she is coming back. Reyna did not show up until 6 Pm! 6 pm when I had to be at the venue by 630. Also, there was only one other lady to do makeup for my mother and sister and she was doing someones color touch ups. Reyna shows up with food in her hand so casually as if we haven't been waiting at all with not one single sorry. She sits me down and I show her a picture of the makeup insp I had in mind. What she recreated on me was nothing near that. The picture featured beautiful glitter gold and she put on me this cheap yellow stage makeup gold and argued with me saying yellow is gold. No its not. At that point we were so late I told her to take it off and recreate something she wanted because I had no time. The products were so cheap. She did not even prep my skin before putting on that cheap foundation they use. She didn't even pay attention to problem areas on my skin. I get to the party and my best friend had to redo my face and lips because it looked so disgusting. My mothers makeup was done absolutely horrendously. I would never ever recommend them or return.
