However, after an inspection, we discovered that replacing the older furnace was the best course of action. Despite the hot and humid weather, Boehmer's efficiency and professionalism shone through. The entire process, from the initial inspection to the installation, was seamless and swift. I highly recommend their services. The technicians were prompt, efficient and knowledgeable. They did a great job installing the furnace, air filter, and new thermostat. Our new furnace is running flawlessly, and the post-installation gesture of cookies was a delightful surprise. We have no complaints so far and are confident in our decision to continue working with this outstanding HVAC company.

However, based on a recent DISTURBING experience with them, I am writing this review. MY EXPERIENCE Metro Heating is a company that installed my HVAC system over 10 years ago and has maintained it since then. Being a satisfied customer, I also had Metro service my boiler & radiator system. Upon hearing a disturbing noise from my boiler system, I called Metro to fix it. The problem was that I needed a new circulation pump. Their repairman, after calling Metro's office, gave me a cost to fix it of $1936.96. Being a bit shocked, I asked him what this cost was based on and what was the cost of the pump. He was unable to answer and simply said that $1936.96 was the number that the office gave him. Being fearful about the safety of the system and trusting in Metro (based on our long experience with their service), we reluctantly agreed to proceed. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT A few days later, Metro sent me an invoice detailing the $1936.96 as follows: Diagnostic fee - $99.00; Replaced Pump with Air Vent - $997.96; Drain and Fill Boiler - $840.00. I checked with Home Depot & Ace Hardware and found that the retail cost of the parts that Metro installed was only $213.95. Also, the repairman was at my house for only about 3 hours. Assuming a labor cost of $150 per hour (which is on the high side of what other companies charge), the TOTAL COST SHOULD BE AT MOST $762.95 - namely, $99 (diagnostic fee)+ $450 (labor cost for 3 hours) + $213.95 (retail cost of parts). THIS $762.95 IS IN STARK CONTRAST TO THE $1936.96 THAT Metro CHARGED ME! I wrote emails to Metro asking for an explanation and a refund based on an adjusted cost. The only explanation that I received back was that the $1936.96 came from a flat rate book. I subsequently reviewed the issue in a phone conversation with the Vice President of Metro who said that he would see what he could do. Despite follow-up emails that I sent, I never heard back from him and never got any response at all from Metro. Metro's web site says: "Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed". I WISH THAT Metro's CLAIM WAS TRUE!

We have them come once in the spring for AC checkup and once in the fall for Furnace. Our last visit was this past Saturday. Greg is the serviceman that has come each time for the past 3 years. Super nice guy and he is VERY thorough, taking all the components out and cleaning them and doing a thorough inspection. Never replacing things until they actually need them. The best part for us, is that they have Saturday hours... however, there are not set dates. You just call and get put on the Saturday list. On the Saturday they are doing work, they will give you a buzz and see if you are home, if so, they will be there very quickly and if you aren't available, they will call on the next Saturday they are out. I had mentioned that we would be looking into a new AC unit in the near future and even though he wasn't there for that, he took down all of the info and is going to drop us off a quote. There prices are very reasonable and the service is GREAT!

Dangerous and unethical - buyer beware. Furnaces have the potential to be lethal, find a real…read moreprofessional and keep your family safe. Admiral installed a brand new Lennox furnace without doing any sort of measurements to determine what size furnace would be safe for our home. Within the first two years, the furnace began leaking carbon monoxide -- the levels were too low to set off our CO alarms, but high enough to cause serious permanent damage to my family (including 3 young children). By the grace of angels we discovered the leak as it worsened in the last couple months and almost became fatal (confirmed by medical follow up). When Admiral came out to fix this, they guaranteed "with 100% certainty" that it was a cracked heat exchanger (which they later denied saying when it was convenient for them). They agreed (after an unprofessional argument) to replace the furnace (which was still under warranty) only with the exact same size furnace. Our home had shown all the symptoms of a furnace that was sized too large (a potential cause of a cracked heat exchanger in a new furnace), so we were scared to replace it with the same furnace without first making sure it was a safe size for our home. We asked Admiral about the sizing and partner Brian glanced up at our basement ceiling and said, "eh, looks ok." We asked them to do the measurements according the Lennox manufacturer recommendation for safety. Admiral strangely blatantly refused, stating they "will absolutely not be doing a load calculation." (Why??) Fast forward -- we had an actual expert come and do the load calculation and, lo and behold, Admiral had given us a furnace that was dangerously large for our home. Also strangely, the furnace manufacturer Lennox offered Admiral a check for $4000 to refund us for the death trap furnace they sold us, but Admiral refused this, too. The local Lennox rep Chris Vicari preferred to do nothing in regards to ensuring the safety of families with Lennox products, because his main concern was losing his commissions from Admiral. Throughout our experience with admiral, they never once showed concern for our family's health, never once apologized, never asked if we were okay or any other questions of concern about our serious health issues from this, spoke condescendingly and insulting while we were scared going through crisis, were difficult at every step as we tried to make sure our family was safe with basic industry standard safety requests, reminded us multiple times what a huge favor they were doing for us by doing the very bare minimum that they could get away with, and were perfectly content to leave us high and dry with permanently injured children. They truly didn't care. I will never understand why they refused to do the right thing and just measure properly when given the second chance to fix this and make sure we were safe. They really felt okay putting in the same dangerously oversized furnace in a home with my 3 children, without first making sure it would be safe. It baffles me. This is not a difficult calculation... it is standard in HVAC. I am in a completely different field and was able to do the load calculation myself without struggle.... I ended up with the same number that the pros ended up with. The owner acted like it was rocket science... while at the same time condescendingly pointing out repeatedly what an expert he was....... The owner Steve only believes that other men are worth his time and has zero empathy... insulting, arguing, and condescending our family the day after it was confirmed that I had nearly lost my life and that my children would now need follow up care for permanent injury... we were scared and in crisis and looking to him to make sure we were safe this time -- giving them the chance to make this right, after their original incident of lazy workmanship had led to this life altering situation (because, they're such "experts" that they don't need to bother with those pesky safety standards - they can just eye it, as they explained to me.)... he really said "funny I have been in HVAC for 30 years and you have been researching for 2 days", how heartless can a person get? (hey Steve, don't you know that no one does better research than a worried mother?? )... his son/partner Brian is a chip off the ol' block and acts like he knows everything, but is almost too incompetent to even have a conversation with. He's lucky his dad gave him a job because he'd have trouble elsewhere with his attitude. Carbon monoxide poisoning on a new furnace is not something that happens often, but it happens - these are NOT the kind of people you want anywhere near anything having to with your family's well-being. It's money and pride over everything for these guys, stay far, far away. Still waiting on that apology, Steve.... and in case it ever occurred to you to ask how any of us are doing health wise, the answer is - not well. But I know you won't bother to ask.

Most of my…read morereviews and searches are about food, but occasionally I have a need for another type of business and this is the first place I turn. You all led me to this small, local business and you were spot-on, so I am paying it forward by adding my review! My family had our pipes freeze in the winter storm this Christmas. Friday, it was the cold water pipe, which took seven hours of work to unfreeze. We thought we were in the clear and counted our blessings as we kept the cold water running overnight Friday -- only to discover Saturday around noon that the hot water pipe was now frozen solid. Twelve straight hours of effort with hair dryers, space heaters, boiling water pots, heating pad wraps and everything else we could think of did not work and we went to sleep Christmas Eve defeated, wondering how we were hosting the rest of my family on Christmas with no hot water, dishwasher, etc. (Our efforts did eventually pay off with the hot water coming on at 8 a.m. Christmas morning and no pipes bursting. So grateful.) During this nightmare I called a number of plumbers who list themselves as emergency 24/7 plumbers, but only Gary from Brickhaas called back. He called during the span of time that I thought everything was under control, but I asked if we could be booked for later in the week to unclog a bathroom drain I've had a problem with lately. Glad I booked them as, after the pipes thawed, the under sink drain was leaking slightly so Dominic was able to take a look at both of these things today. He called with a 20-minute heads up on his arrival, efficiently took care of the clogged sink and an aerator that was limiting water flow, installed a new kitchen sink trap assembly (which he said I could honestly take or leave; I appreciated the honesty but opted to replace for my own peace of mind), and offered solid advice about what we might do if plans to better insulate those water pipes in the future didn't work out re: rerouting the pipes from their current, poor location. He was highly knowledgeable, didn't hard sell anything and I absolutely got his card as I'll be calling them for future plumbing needs. Yelp comes through, as usual!

What a fantastic team - each team member was friendly and professional. They even managed to befriend our cats during the install and were very careful making sure neither of them slipped out during all the trips in and out of the house. We couldn't be happier with our experience and the end product, which is a beautifully installed system that both cools (and heats!) our home perfectly. We have already recommended the team to friends and would choose them a hundred times over if we had to do it again. Full Experience: We were fortunate to find Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning during our search for ductless AC since our home does not have an attic or an unfinished basement. We did our due diligence in having walkthroughs with 3 different companies during our evaluation process. Jim Phillips was the only contractor who found creative ways to preserve the unique style of our home while saving us from another summer of melting. He is also the only contractor who followed up with us after providing a quote and had several phone calls with us to address all questions and concerns. So we confidently contracted with Jim's company because we knew that they would take care of us as actual customers since they took such care with prospective ones. On the first morning, Nate and Mike arrived promptly and conducted an independent walkthrough to learn the layout and ensure that they were comfortable with the execution strategy. Soon after, Jim arrived to confirm the final plan with them (and us). We really appreciated this extra effort and it gave us total comfort in our decision to contract with Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning. Each morning of the install, the team arrived right on schedule and got to work after greeting us. Throughout the day, they consulted with us on any decisions that needed to be made and ensured that we were comfortable with location of units, line hide placement, etc. We also appreciated that they would share recommendations and treated this job as if they were working on their own homes. At the end of each work day, Nate always made sure to do a closeout update with us to show the progress that had been made, communicate the plan for the next day, and answer any questions. They always asked our permission to leave tools and materials behind for the day (which of course we agreed so they didn't have to waste time staging everything in the morning). Because our install was during the pandemic, they wore masks any time they moved through our home and they wore shoe covers and/or used a drop cloth inside at all times. They were really diligent about this and not once did I have to remind them about PPE. I am a germaphobe and was very grateful that they did not give me a single thing to worry about. They also used a shop vac wherever they were drilling so they kept things really nice and neat. They did a phenomenal job with the install as well as the cosmetic work. We thoroughly enjoyed working with them and are thrilled with the outcome. Go with Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning. You will be glad you did!
