I've been looking for a new hair person. I've got super-challenging hair - thick and heavy and wavy. Plus I have horribly hard water that mucks up the texture. Getting a haircut is always a crapshoot is often a disaster. I called and got an appointment with Emily on her 2nd day there. She was great. She heard everything I said, talked me through all that she was thinking, and then checked in with me throughout the process. She really listened which can be uncommon. Shear Shack Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Cortez, Colorado

On an extended RV road trip, and I needed to get a weave. I have had the same stylist for 25 years, so finding someone on the road was a bit intimidating. I was staying in Dolores, and the only hair salon in town was booked. So I drove into Cortez. The first salon I stopped at was booked solid for 2 weeks; so they suggested Shear Shack because they accept walk-in appointments. I had a little trouble finding the salon; because the salon store front is below street level. But as soon as I entered the salon, I knew I'd found the right place. I was able to get a same-day appointment. My stylist was Zhjade, and she was great. I had my own product, and instructions from my stylist. Zhjade took the time to make sure she understood what I wanted, and even spoke with my stylist by telephone to make sure she had it right. Also, Zhjade was very personable. The salon is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. The cost of my weave was very reasonable. Very pleased! Since we travel for work, I don't have a consistent salon (or hair maintenance routine for that matter ) and finding a good one on the road can be a challenge. While staying in Cortez for a month, I visited this salon and was very pleased. Although they were short handed, they fit me in for a hair cut and pedicure the same day. Krystin Charley did both and she could not have been more thorough. The pedi included one of the best foot reflexology experiences I've ever had! My hair cut was exactly as I requested, and the results were very much to my liking. The general feel of the salon was a warm, small town experience. Each customer seemed like an old friend and the chatter covered everything from who was signing up for the little league team to how many tickets they were going to need for the local baseball team. Outstanding reviews were right on for Shear Shack! We are full-time RVers and stopping for a haircut can be stressful and not always at the top of my list.
