No communication from the lawyer. Easily took up several weeks for a response from the attorney. Since I asked about the lock of communication, the attorney motion to withdraw the case. I don't know is the whole firm is bad or just the attorney I was working with. Look for other options and don't let only the positive reviews fool you. It did it to me with this firm and now I regret it. read more

Shea is our "go to" law firm from now on! We emphatically recommend the Shea Law Group. The firm has LaSalle Street quality lawyers but is a much more conveniently located neighborhood firm with free parking so you avoid the time, hassle and expense of going downtown. My mom was injured due to a hazardous condition at a building in DuPage County and had shoulder and dental injuries. Unfortunately, the building management refused to acknowledge responsibility and months of trying to get their insurance carrier to talk to us went nowhere. We originally retained some big deal downtown lawyer who dropped her case thirty days before her statute of limitations (for filing) came up. They claimed the insurance carrier would not respond to their calls or letters, so they just quit without apology. With the clock ticking my mom filed Pro-Se and offered to settle; which was quickly rejected as they planned to have her case thrown out and then intended to bill her for their expenses. Then we visited Shea Law Group in our neighborhood and met James Lawlor, who carefully reviewed the merits of our case before agreeing to accept it on a contingency basis. Mr. Lawlor went after these guys like a Pit Bull! He got her more than twice than what she had offered to settle for on her own. He kept us in the loop through it all and explained the rationale for his course of actions. James really made it happen. He was like the Calvary charging over the hill! I can't believe that I have not reviewed this firm sooner. I assume I'm only now getting around to it now that I find myself in need of a lawyer again. Any-who, I contacted Shea Law Group in January 2016 after being hit in a marked cross walk by an elderly woman who ran a stop sign. From the initial meeting Mr. Shea was very attentive and empathic. Honestly, that is all I needed to determine that he was the right lawyer for me. He was fantastic through the entire process, constantly calling me personally with updates as well as to see how my medical treatment was coming along. And his assistant Amanda was always available when he was not, when she said she would email me forms she would always do so in a timely fashion, and would even send follow up emails stating what Mr. Shea and I had talked about on the phone. My case was finalized in less than 10 months. HONESTLY, I don't believe you will find a more compassionate lawyer or law firm in Chicago. I hate giving bad reviews but this one is been a long time coming. My 'attorney' at this office have failed me miserably. I was expecting a lawyer that will to diligences for me, not the other way around. I have to contact my own doctors and get the information and mailed to the Law firm. I called him, send them emails. Either doesn't respond at all and/or respond days or weeks later. I try to contact over the phone, emails and nothing. Today, has been the 3rd time I have to call the 800 number and the CHAT room from their website in hopes to get a hold of my ''attorney'' or someone that can help. This is sad, I don't know what I was expecting from the attorney or a law office, but I was expecting at least respect and communication but unfortunately, I was wrong. Even the Doctors in the case asked several times; why my attorney hasn't done nothing in so many years? Its embarrassing. I understand that it's all my fault, I'm not only doing he's job by getting all the paperwork for him, I should have change lawyer like I was advise by other attorneys, but I was afraid that changing lawyers will make my case look bad. My case is been for more than 2 years, even before I approach this law firm, my employer offered me a settlement, so everything pretty much has been done for him. And yet, no case no communication.
