Shaw's is the predominant icecream brand served at the different icecream shops in the area, so we were really excited to visit the mothership... and it was disappointing. The icecream was still good of course. But the smaller icecream stops in the area all had bigger scoops at better prices (and one of them even had more flavours!). First soft serve twist in quite some time. Arguably the best in St. Thomas! They have a wide range of flavours to choose from and a few unique flavours. Their pricing is definitely more expensive than expected but I would still drop by if I am in town again. read more

The best local icecream parlour you are going to visit, and if your heading to the beach or coming back from it, it's almost mandatory that you pop in to Shaw's. Starting with quality, you won't find a flavour that fits your tastebuds that you won't like. Everything is made on site and is incredible. These people know how to get it done! The kind lady that served me had all four of our ice cream cones in one hand... all filled to the brim! Very close to Port Stanley and St. Thomas. It's best not ti come on a Friday or Saturday night, since we went on a Wednesday night and the wait was about 10 minutes. read more

Delicious! So many flavours to choose from. For those people that can't tolerate diary, they have sherbert - the rainbow sherbet was really good (I tried my husbands). I got the dark cherry and it was yummy. Highly recommend you stop here for ice cream after the beach. And it's not overpriced either! read more

Here's a quick review for this great icecream shop. We saw it driving by, noticed a lot of cars in the lot, and decided to give it a shot on the way back from Port Stanley to London. GOOD CALL. It's a small storefront with three booths, and a handful of picnic tables outside. Behind the store is what looks like a factory, so you know what that means: FRESH ICECREAM. And my friends let me tell you, this was some deliciously fresh ice cream. Fresh, good quality icecream should be chewy and dense (IMHO), and that's exactly what it was here. I had a sundae made of "Granny's Cupboard" and "Jane's Magic Square", both of which were recommended by the helpful clerk. I totally forget what was in them (coconut? Cookie dough? Peanut butter? A dozen other things?) but dear lord was it good. My dining companion had Moose tracks (peanut chocolate) and Caramel Caramel Cup, and was similarly impressed. It was so dense and chewy and dough/chip/cup/etcetera-filled it was hard to move your spoon through it. Fantastic. As I said the staff were very nice and helpful, rattling off the ingredients in the flavours at an alarming pace and allowing liberal amounts of tasting. They also let me order a 'regular' sized sundae with two scoops instead of one, so I could try more flavours, which I recommend doing. I would also suggest sticking to the regular unless you're famished: it was more than enough (especially with toppings). I dunno, maybe I'm a naive and gullible Torontonian, but this was some of the best icecream I've had in the province (dare I say, even better than Kawartha Dairy...). Bottom line: I would drive the 30 minutes from London just to go back here. read more

Wow! This ice cream is absolutely delicious! This was my second visit to Shaw's and the last time I went, it was a bitter cold November afternoon; not to say the ice cream wasn't as delicious as it was now, but coming in the summer is just that more enjoyable. I came here with my friend Sara after we had finished work, and we wanted to come out and enjoy the summer evening with some ice cream, and what better place to come than Shaw's! I love that it's local and you can also find it in some local grocers too! We had arrived before a big line up, because I hear this place is very busy. When you're in line, you can see the sign overhead with the list of different ice cream flavours available. There were so many to choose from, and it was almost overwhelming. I ended up choosing chocolate chip cookie dough and they weigh it, so you can have as much as you want, which is a great way not only to try one flavour, but two or three (I found that out for next time). I had ordered it in a cup, but they did have regular, and waffle cones available as well. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather, but inside there are a couple booths and it's super cold, and a great place to cool off from the hot summer sun. Either inside our outside, you could enjoy the ambiance and the history of Shaw's itself. It's a staple for St. Thomas and the surrounding area, and I love the fact that it's a part of their history too, open since 1948. The employees are friendly and very helpful explaining the difference of each of the flavours, they're very fast and quick as well, and the whole establishment exudes a classic ice cream parlour vibe. I loved it here, and I can't wait to come back and try another flavour. read more
