A couple years ago, there weren't many shawarma places on The Danforth, and now there's a lot of options. Of the newer ones is one of the Shawarma Royale chain. Compared to the other options, the offerings at this restaurant are more wallet friendly. Keeping with the royale theme, the sizes have royalty based names. As of the writing of this review, they have introduced a few twists on offer recently with their crispy wrap options. Of these, I tried the Hot & Cheesy which comes with a crispy, red spicy exterior shell that reminded me of a flaming cheese, while retaining the standard chicken shawarma fillings of meat, garlic sauce and pickles. I would recommend eating the crispy options immediately when ready. I also tried the standard chicken shawarma for comparison and it is pretty good too. I like the flexibility in being able to get a smaller or bigger wrap depending on the appetite. I also tried the falafel appetizer, and while the falafels were crispy on the exterior, I felt the filling was a bit too dense for my liking. I did appreciate the thumb indentures on the surface (a trick to ensure the falafel is cooked through in the middle more evenly). I love Shawarma and Shawarma Royale offers great quality and taste. They have recently opened up new locations in Toronto and this location is right outside Pape Station which is very convenient. The owner, store manager and the staff are very nice and friendly and care about providing great customer service. They offer great variety of chicken, lamb & beef shawarma and kebab. They also offer very delicious falafel for vegetarians. The menu includes Greek food like gyro and Greek Salad as well. We tried both and really enjoyed them. read more

This is a franchise chain serving Middle East cuisine, featuring Syrian shawarma. There are at least 12 other locations in southern Ontario. It started as a little restaurant 20 years ago in small, underground hideaway in Waterloo, Ontario. I like the bowls, on sale for $9.99, with their regular price of $12.99. The bowls are large. You can choose rice or fries (I like their rice), 1 sauce, and 2 toppings. The customer service was good. It soft-opened on 2024-08-02. The grand opening is expected to be Sat 2024-08-17. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms, but they are not wheelchair accessible. The food is usually great here. But today, I ordered through Door Dash, with specific allergy instructions, and my food had the item I was allergic to, despite not including it as a requested topping. After I called the store, to let them know, they should be more careful, as I could have gone to the hospital had I just bit in (I noticed an onion sticking out, and could smell them too). While Door Dash was awesome and instantly refunded me, the store staff was rude, dismissive, and did not care. I'm writing this here as a warning to others to be careful with this location. It's a wrap, so you can't just lift the bun to see everything. The issue here is the staff don't care, and you could get big issues with your order too. read more

Pretty good chicken shawarma. While would have liked a bit more chicken and thinner pita, the chicken was tastily smoky and I loved the strong garlic flavour. Place has a number of tables and bar seats if you don't want to takeout. Service is pretty quick. Prices are what prices are these days. read more

The music was blaring!! I had salad with beef, salad is chopped condiments and drown in white sauce.

Went in hungry disappointed when i got home. Serves me right for not checking order at restaurant before leaving. Ordered Queen chicken bowl with rice which i told them twice. Opened food when i got home and they put fries. Why would you put cold salad on top of fries then chicken then tahini sauce. Daughter ordered a wrap which see said was fine but she wanted chicken wings and they said they ran out. How can you run out of chicken they are either a popular item or their ordering skills and inventory skills suck. If you want to run a successful franchise don't run out of item. Will go to Pita Lite a block away for a better experience and they are coherent. read more
