After looking at all of the flower shops in Grand Rapids, I found something I loved on the Blue Iris website and ordered it and added special requests. The next day someone from the shop contacted me to ask if I wanted to change the basket to a beautiful special cardinal vase. I loved the idea and agreed! The nice lady took care of my order change and everything went smoothly and she sent me a picture of the vase so I could see what I was getting. The day of the service, she sent me a picture of my beautiful arrangment and added into the arrangment a little red cardinal bird that was a beautiful surprise! The note was handwritten in beautiful handwriting! I had expected a typed note to go along with my arrangement. I also received a photo of the room where my father's service was to be held so I would have validation that my arrangment was delivered. The flowers were fresh and bright and beyond my expectations! The staff were so nice, friendly, and professional and I didn't have to stress over any of it. I will use this flower shop again and recommend it to family in Grand Rapids. Thank you!

My wife always brings my parents flowers when we visit them in Deer River. Since our hotel was in Deer River, this time, we decided to try out Deer River Floral. We stopped in at 10:00 am. Wow, what a letdown! They only had one small cooler for flowers that was mostly empty (see photo). And the flowers were wilted! I tried to get a better photo but the owner was on my case and didn't want me taking pictures. I don't blame her. They really looked bad. The owner made things worse by her unprofessional reaction to being caught unprepared. She didn't apologize and suggest a solution for the new customers that walked in her door. Instead, she scolded us and told us that our "timing is bad" because she had a delivery of new flowers in back. No, HER timing was bad because she wasn't prepared when 3 paying customers walked in the front door! Despite the bad start, will still tried to buy some flowers and make good on our visit. We asked her if she could bring some flowers out so we could look at them. NO, we have to come back later. We asked her if we could look at the flowers in the back room. NO, we can't look in back for safety reasons. (I doubt there were really any new flowers in back.) Lame, lame, lame. At this point, my wife went from disappointed to outright angry. She couldn't get out the door fast enough. As for the other things they do...crafts, candles, honey, artsy whatever...I don't care. We just wanted the main product -- flowers. We drove back to Grand Rapids and stopped at our usual store, Shaw florists. As always, they sold us some beautiful flowers for mom (and grandma). The selection was A+.
