S-H-A-W...a four letter word which is in the same category as other 4 letter words. We switched from Telus to Shaw for the discounts but the cheaper rates were only effective for 6 months. The technician who did the install told us to go upstairs while he installed the modem and router in private. He ended up drilling 2 holes into our concrete wall for no reason and left all the crap on the floor. On numerous occasions, the cable tv freezes, the voicemail blanks out, and the internet is out of service. Recently had to get a new modem and they don't deliver it but we had to trek to Sunridge Mall to swap it out. Service at this location is horrible & staff are absolutely atrocious! Female employee (Priya) was blunt & abrasive and just wanted to shuttle us out as soon as frickin' possible. We're going to bite the bullet and go back to Telus. The lesser of the 2 evils. read more

THE WORST SERVICE BY ANY COMPANY I HAVE EVER RECIEVED!!! technician has been to our place to "fix" the problem three times, each time they have been here they said the box needs to be replaced, "have you got one in your van" , "no i ran out 'today' " convenient!!! they were here yesterday and, now they are saying its the external Hard Drive!! paying for high speed internet but more like the speed of dial-up service. Not sure how Shaw can get away charging customers but not supplying the service paid for? Also, comes and goes several times a week. Good thing I'm not running a home-based business with internet service like this - I'd be out of business. Shaw Cable advertise big, but acting not professional, specifically toward businesses. They keep advertise for their Business Internet speed 150M download and 16M upload. You got interested, call them, they make the provisioning and they come back positively and saying yes, we can provide this service for your business. You got excited, then they send you a contract to sign digitally locked for 3 years as per your choice, then you are asking for static IP addresses, so they send you the IP address before hand, so you think this is good, then they give you a date for the installation and activation, so you believe that they are well organized. You ask specifically, if there is any other charges, and off course there are no hidden charges for the install. So you go ahead and ask for your current Internet Service provider to cancel the service one week after the install date and confirm it. Then Shaw Cable technician show up two days early and say there is no cable in your building, sorry we cannot do anything today and we will pass your request to the construction department. We have then to wait , no communication, calling again and again, then they said we have to wait for 10 business days. Finally, we hitting day 11, then Shaw Cable saying we don't have communication from the construction department. We ask for the supervisor, then 5 minutes after that we get an answer that Shaw will do the install but this will cost us $17000 , yes, seventeen thousand dollars and they are asking if they should go ahead with the order. The funny thing is that the $17000 is a standard cost they told us for two locations, two different companies, one in Calgary beltline and the other one in Chestermere. Our Calgary location has an office next to it and they have Shaw Cable and the tech from shaw told us they have a conduit to our building and all they need to do just fishing the Shaw Cable through that conduit. Wow, doing that will cost us $17000. Be careful with Shaw Cable. I still never got the supervisor to call us back and we had to deal with the cancellation and reactivation of our old ISP.. We already considering filing a court case against Shaw Cable. read more

Too expensive. Bottom line whenever Williams Lake gets another provider in town I will be moving over immediately. I barely have any channels and I am paying $35 a month for it. What a joke. I am considering leaving it all together and having no TV my only hold back is I like watching the news when I am home. So frustrated. read more

Have been a customer for 10 years. The last 4 have been a test in patients and negotiations. They never deliver what you pay for, and the service from their tech support is horrible! Unfortunately they are the only company that offers what I need, when it works! I will try to follow the lead on shaw's first review in calgary, on this page anyways. I guess i was very disappointed by the way my interview went with shaw. Let me restart I was disappointed at myself for wasting and being excited about my interview at shaw. Don't get me wrong i still like shaw, and their services and have had their services for god knows how long. I guess thats why i took a real interest in shaw when i was wanting to look for another career path. I recently applied at the main location the new big building in calgary, I was told to be there for there meet and greet day, so their interview processing day. I WAS SO EXICITED! me and my friend went on the same day and we were pumped. We had both made the choice to work at shaw.....(keep in mind i had been her boss for Oh i would say 12 YEARS!). so you could imagine our resumes right. Well lets just say she works there now and am still looking. After that day i was told i would get a call back, but instead an email about how they had choosen someone that is closer to the fit criteria*how does that WORK? so like the person I am , and probly a perfectionist when it comes down to wanting to know what went wrong... I called them I was treated well and was given a direct line to someone who inturn returned my call of curiousity. And guess what I got the same answer...I just wanted to know what happend in the interview that made me a less candidate then the one i came to the interview with!! I have 12 years in a call centre with customer satisfaction and service experience along with supervisor and management experience and Project managing. I learn from experience and learn quickly and strive to manage myself first and take that concept to others. LOLLOL I guess that is why my former employee that i drove to shaw made it and i didn't . But yes i was excited and WOW what an atmosphere to be in, i would love the oppertunity to deliver whatever it was that i did wrong that day , and be able to work there. The whole senerio and day just confuses me like no tomorrow though. Can anyone see what i am saying? Then another call, which was supposed to be a callback--oh yeah, they called me back, then proceeded to put me on hold for 40 minutes. Brutal. Costs keep going up and real speeds, reliability and value keeps going down. After getting a new wireless modem a few months ago, I've had intermittent problems with network outages that are extremely annoying. It's very hard to talk to customer service about the problem and it's not unusual to have to sign up for a callback that may take a few hours. In this recent problem, I'm still waiting for a resolution after 3 tries. I only wish that there were more ISPs in Calgary so there would be more real competition. Unless you want to sign up for a contract, the only other option seems to be Telus. It's like choosing between a punch in the head and a kick to the groin. read more

We were quite happy with Shaw until our contract ended. Then our service became a nightmare. After deciding to end our contract and notifying the company, I was told that pre authorised payments would stop- however they did not. We were billed over $400. for rental equipment that had already been returned as well as our outstanding balance, which had been paid in person. When informed of this error we were told that the mistake was indeed theirs however it would take six weeks to have our money returned to us. After complaining we essentially got nowhere and have yet to have the money returned at this time. read more

anyone anywhere can get shaw cable without ever paying a bill,a tenant in the building bounces from shaw cable and telus to activate services for cable,and internet,she uses different names every 3 months,racks up the account then gets it disconnected,ive emailed shaw and telus,ive spoken with them on the phones,and they still continue to provide services to the same person living alone,racking up overdue accounts,of over 300.00 every 3 months,now i ask?,how is this fair to the people who have to pay there bills,..no one at shaw seems to care.its not fair.its wrong!.ive given them the address and her real name,you would think it would get disconnected and asked for proper or proof of id.or a residential agreement.,so if want cable,call shaw or telus,just give them a phony name and tell them,u just moved in the place,its hooked up for free,,,and dont pay the bill,EVER read more

I was a customer of Telus for 10+ years. That in my mind is a loyal customer. However, I purchased a residence that didn't have the correct wiring and Telus was reluctant to fix. Ok, they just didn't fix it. My only other option was Shaw. So by default, I had Shaw install services at my residence. In 10 years with Telus, I experienced 2 short outages. In 2 years with Shaw, I experienced 5 long outages. I moved residences and kept Shaw and experienced even more outages in the next 5 years. I think I would have fewer outages if I stuck a coax cable up my chute and put the cable in electrified water. Needless to say, what Shaw charges is outrageous (and I just have the basis of the basic). I'm going back to Telus. I hope they don't disappoint. I'm not one to ever call customer service, mainly because I am not a sadist. I'd rather solve my own problems. Calling Shaw is like having a hot ice pick inserted into places I cannot speak of in this review. Talking to Shaw reps is like talking to a bunch of pre-programmed robots that only have so many answers. A pre-recorded voice from a Commodore Vic20. The Shaw reps are really a bunch of naive, inexperienced (in work and life) idiots who think they count. YOU DON'T. YOU BECAME IRRELEVANT THE MOMENT YOU STARTED WORKING FOR SHAW. Shaw Cable is AWFUL!! We have been customers for over 4 years, after having so many problems with the "video on demand" (kept freezing up-over 26 times). We switched to Telus. Shaw constantly up's your "monthly services" they do it a little almost every month, we started at 52.90 and we are up to $79.90 now, and you dont get to complain. I cancelled my services and still had to pay for an extra 3 WEEKS.....why? They just said this was policy!!! I asked if I could get reimbursed for all of the movies that we payed for and never got to finish watching and she just said that we should have reported the problem at the time...which I replied that we did phone it every time it happened and we were just told to reboot the system.....that was their "customer help". So many issues with Shaw, not to mention their "commercials" that you have to ENDURE when you are signed up with them!!!! Just go with TELUS and get the great service and connection that they provide. Sure they have contracts but dont let that scare you away....they are always willing to work with you to find something that works.... read more

garbage service coupled with patronizing phone calls! about as bad as corporate parasites get! 2 months ago I get told that I'm using too much bandwidth and I need to up my service to a 140$ package. the fastest service available apparently. 2 days ago I get another call saying that they're now offering a faster package and I need to up my service to avoid more outages.. my usage hasn't changed! best I can figure is that these pieces of shit are limiting peoples service in order to justify price gouging for a sub-standard product! can't help but wonder why Canadians have to pay these people some of the highest rates in the world for internet access?!?!?! read more

I was aSaskatonn Telacable customer and with Shaw since day one. I've been faithful to Shaw and to Sask tel for my phone service. I'm tired of Shaw trying to get it all,as it is I spend $ 150 a month with Shaw isn't that enough. I do not like the special deal I will get if I connect everything with Shaw. What your saying is my internet and cable isn't enough to grant me a special deal, that is insulting to me.As far as I'm concerned I pay to much already and would like to see a better price for Seniors especially if they've been loyal to Shaw for so long. Your discount is based on getting everything rather then LOYALTY. If I moved to Sasktel for TV and Internet you would lose a lot compared to gaining my phone. I believe I've earned a discount for spending so much for so long and for being Loyal. Customers for life are the best it's business you can bank on. PLEASE tell me why I don't diserve a discount and a new customer does just because he moves his phone. He will probably switch to Sasktel when they offer him a better deal in a year or so read more
