Boudin balls doughie. Cut up one catfish filet into 4 pieces and charged $2/piece. Each piece was smaller than the palm of my petite hand for reference. Crawfish was the only thing that saved this purchase. May go back for crawfish but would rather other places for catfish and boudin. read more

Got Shaver's to go this evening. Super upbeat and nice workers. We got a dozen fried fish with fries and hush puppies (#friedfood). The remoulade sauce was the best part! So so good. The fish was perfectly fried. Fries and hush puppies were just your basic sides...nothing special. In the end, I would choose Shaver's over its competitor (Shane's) any day if not only for the fact that the people who work there are the nicest bunch! read more

I really liked the menu and one of the reviews I read said the fried shrimp were the best. So decided to give them a call. I have to check before I go to a new place to be sure they do not add MSG to their food, as my body cannot tolerate that product. Sadly the person that answered the phone said the owner just told him that he uses it in everything they have. So I dare not buy their food. It is hard to believe though, that they use MSG in EVERYTHING. Even Chinese places that still use that dangerous product will tell you they have several things that they do not add MSG to. I do not know. Maybe the owner was just mouthing off, but whatever I cannot take the chance. People can and have died from this product. I worked in a poison control center and we had cases of people that had terrible reactions when eating food with MSG in it. Whatever, I felt the need to warn people just in case they cannot tolerate MSG, so that they will avoid getting sick or ending up in the hospital or worse. You would think Shavers would have some items free of this preservative/flavor enhancer, but apparently not. And there are so many places that just cook fresh and do not use the product. Be safe. This little place was recommended to me by a native for a quick and delicious bite to eat as I was passing through town. It doesn't look like much, but the food and the service were excellent! I ordered the shrimp basket. The. Shrimp. Were. HUGE. They were battered and fried to perfection. The basket was complimented with three hush puppies, more fries than I could eat, and enough coleslaw to say that I had a vegetable with my meal. They were a little shy on beverages on this particular evening, but there was a cold can of Dr Pepper located for me. Now, there is really no place to sit, not that I saw (it was dark outside), except for a picnic table under the canopy in the parking area. My meal was delivered there to me by the friendly staff and I enjoyed my dinner al fresco. My meal was served in a styrofoam clamshell complete with plastic utensils and condiment packets. I get the idea that most folks take their food to go, or order in a catered capacity, as the name suggests. Overall - great food, friendly staff. I will visit again next time I am out that way. read more

Probably one of the most overlooked restaurants in Shreveport, because they don't have dine-in seating, it's all to-go orders. But some of the best fried catfish and shrimp in the area. Perfectly spiced. Poboys are good too. Sides are delicious. read more

This is a review of the boiled crawfish of season 2022. They would have received a higher rating except for the fact that they were too hot/peppery. The flavoring is good with the exception of the heat. My lips and fingers burned for hours after eating the crawfish. Shaver's was a very decent meal. We got the fried green tomato BLT and shrimp poboy with fries and gumbo. I wasn't the biggest fan of the fried green tomatoes, but everything else was good. I really enjoyed the oyster po boy I got from this place. The oysters were fried to perfection and the sandwich fully dressed as I requested. The muffuletta was good too with the yummy potato chips. The crawfish were spicy IMHO. I still sucked down a couple pounds though. The service was fast and friendly. It's not a place you can eat at- it's strictly to go. But for a place that looks like a gas station with a car wash, I was highly impressed. FYI,.... what I thought was a car wash is actually a building where they boil the crawfish- hahaha. read more

This place is amazing my favorite place in bossier city. I come every year for my birthday since it falls in crawfish season. This place started small and grew and still kept the charm I loved so much. The only change they made that I didn't like is the mandatory minimum on crawfish. I'm one person and I don't need 3 lbs. That is the reason I started going to this restaurant and the taste and quality kept me coming back. This year I didn't get any crawfish. Other than that it's a 5 star experience but I need a place with no minimum so I'm not sure if I'll be back. read more

What a disappointment! My son and I got 12 pounds of crawfish earlier today and brought them home to eat, only 5 minutes away. I can almost understand the small size but for a restaurant that is suppose to specialize in crawfish these were terrible. The tails were sticking the the shell in 95% of the crawfish. You had to fight to get them out of the shell. I can assure you and I would advise anyone wanting good crawfish to find another location that cooks them. I did have some amazing crawfish last night but that is another review. Ordered 60 pounds of crawfish with potatoes, corn and sausage. 3.46 pound for cooked. Crawfish were seasoned perfect but the majority were small. Potatoes were cooked separately and had no seasoning. People there are awesome and very good to deal with. Size could be a little due to late in the season. read more

Maybe I caught them on an off-day, as my best friend had been here before and said the crawfish was amazing, but I was not impressed. The prices were fair for the beginning of crawfish season in March (around $5/lb) and they put it and corn and potatoes (if you order them) in grocery bags for you to take home with you. I wanted to like this place. I liked the idea of taking my crawfish with me and enjoying them in the privacy of my own home, but they were bland at best. Bland crawfish in Louisiana is just wrong. They weren't very juicy, either. I will definitely skip this place next time I go to Louisiana. read more
