Come here for the books, I mean cats. I'm really not sure I need to say more than that.

My favorite bookstore in town! Such a great location. If they don't have the book you're looking for they will get it for you but chances are they have it. Their service has been wonderful. And of course I love the cats!

Such an adorable bookstore! I loved how welcoming to everyone the store was, the fantastic selection of books they offered, and location of the store. If you're a book lover, this adorable shop is definitely a must when you're in Savannah.

We loved this bookstore! A local bookstore is always a great tone setting for a vacation in my opinion and this one didn't disappoint. Got a few odds and ends as souvenirs. Recommend!

If you're going to hit up a bookstore in Savannah, skip the rest and go directly to E Shaver Bookseller. This bookstore is massive, filled with so many nooks and crannies, and each one of them has a plethora of goodies. Want books? They have them. Want souvenirs? They have them. Want cats? They have them. I should probably enlighten you a bit about the last two. This is quite literally a tourist's paradise. Aside from books, there are many Savannah staples here. Tea, coffee, t-shirts -- it's easy to do your souvenir shopping here. I know I bought lots of things, and among them, I count totes and shirts to name a couple. The reality is they have loads of stuff. Calendars, journals, sweets, umbrellas. You get the gist. They even have sections with books about Savannah alone. That is, of course, without the insane amount of books they sell here. There were at least a dozen rooms or what felt like them anyway. The best thing about these rooms, too, is the cats. Yes, you heard me! This is a cat's bookstore. You will find furry friends everywhere and be advised to not pet them. The day I went I only saw a ginger cat, but she was very sweet and just seemed to be curious as I kept going back and forth debating what to buy. I could swear I saw her smirk as I paid for my stuff, too. Nearly $150 later. Definitely a gimmicky bookstore, but I felt at home upon visiting. Cannot wait to go back!

A magical place to get lost amongst great books. Cute house setting where three adorable cats enjoy stardom amongst the shelves or basking in the sun of a window. Great service!

This bookstore is a national treasure! You walk in and immediately are greeted by staff and three resident cats that sweetly purr and patrol the bookshop. I loved the Handwritten book recommendations. I ended up buying two books, you always need to support the local bookstores because they are magical. In the back you can use an old typewriter to make notes and post it on the walls. So fun!

This was our favorite thing we did in Savannah! We were only in town for a couple of days and stumbled upon this shop on our walk back to the car to go home. Absolutely adorable shop with such a unique layout-- tons of twists and turns and pockets of cute spots to sit and read. I loved that each room was its own genre. They have a typewriter set up in a corner where you can type up a note and pin it to the walls! Our daughters really enjoyed that. And obviously, best of all, were the cats! There are 4 (?) resident cats tucked into little spots throughout the shop, in windows, under tables, etc. The shop owners have tshirts and custom stickers with their names on them for purchase. I got our girls cat stickers to remember the experience.

This place is apparently pretty famous. It was actually one of the "must-see" spots for Spensyr on this trip... ? ‍ It's a book store. It's not a vintage, discount, out of print, old musty tomes bookstore though? It's a clean, well-lit, up to date, store selling the same books you can find at any other bookstore, for the same prices they'd cost at any bookstore. I think the appeal must simply be that it's a really old building in Savannah? In any event the staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. The clientele is as eclectic as the city itself, being a tourist destination it gets crowded but there's plenty of space for browsing the shelves, and some seating areas for relaxing as well. We never did get to see any of the cats.

The cats! The books! The atmosphere! It's impossible for me to travel without visiting local bookstores, and E. Shaver Bookseller was at the top of every "Must Visit Bookstores in Savannah" list and rightfully so! As soon as I walked into E. Shaver, I was greeted by that unmistakable bookstore smell and cozy vibe (IYKYK). The shelves were packed with books, but the real stars of the show were the resident cats! I had so much fun trying to spot all four of them as I browsed. One of my favorite touches was the typewriter set up in a corner. Trying to come up with something creative to type the day after running a marathon added a fun little challenge to my visit. While I didn't buy any books this time (my TBR pile is already huge), I spotted so many tempting titles. The prices were exactly what you'd expect from a local independent bookstore, and places like this absolutely deserve our support. The employees were all very friendly, and the cats were delightfully fluffy and adorable. Bravo, E. Shaver Bookseller you're a gem!

Always and ever a fan of local booksellers, I knew I had to stop by here on a recent trip to Savannah. E Shaver is a book lovers delight. The shop is relatively small but they have packed it with literary goodness. It's well organized and I was able to find the section I was looking for and a fun read for my vacation. The prices are what you would expect to pay and overall the shop itself is charming. It is popular and the aisles are tight, so can be a bit of maneuvering to get around. It didn't bother me but my shopping companion had to hop out as it felt too crowded for him (he wasn't planning on getting a book anyway, so no biggie). My suggestion would be, in the interest of space, if you're in a group and not everyone actually wants to book shop--have those folks wait outside. But, other than that--a gem of a shop! Get to it!

My favorite spot in Savannah. I love a local bookstore and this one may be my new favorite. First off, it's huge. It keeps going and going for rooms and rooms. Think you're done? Not even close. So much is packed into this store. They had such a large selection of every genre. Second, CATS! They have four cats that live in the bookstore and I've never seen a cuter door greeter. Third, they had a typewriter and I may have to have one (kidding, I think). I left with three new books and a gift for a friend and a smile on my face.

Our visit to E Shaver bookseller was easily one of our favorite parts of our Savannah trip -- so much so, we visited this bookstore twice in two days! On our first stop, we had a 45-minute wait for the Gryphon Tea Room across the street, so we decided to take a walk and check this place out. We didn't want to miss our spot though, so we didn't spend nearly enough time in here as we would've liked (and it turns out, we could've spent way more, since our 45-minute wait ended up being 90 minutes, but that's another story for another review). We both really wanted to come back and take our time, so we agreed to make another visit on our last day in Savannah, and I'm so glad we did. This is such a fun shop with so many nooks and crannies to explore. You could absolutely get lost in this place, in a good way. Not to mention, resident bookshop cats! The kitties only added to the charm of this place, and some clearly adored the attention they received from visitors. There are actually four cats in all, but I think only two of them actually like being around people all the time. If you buy a book that has been banned in a school district somewhere, they give you a fun "I read banned books" sticker, which my husband is now a proud owner of after his purchase. One particular feature we thought was so cool was their "blind date with a book" section. They are wrapped up in brown paper with descriptions. He and I each bought one, and I really enjoyed my book -- and I don't know that I would've picked it up otherwise. I will absolutely come back here anytime I'm in Savannah, because this is just the best little independent bookstore.
