I am amazed to see so many one star reviews but realize that people are going in with problems that are painful and not always 100% repairable. I have never experienced the staff issues with either Dr. Cannon or Dr. Shah's staffs. Dr. Cannon did my right shoulder in May of 2001 and I was back to original strength and flexibility as before my damage. In 2008, I had my left bicep detached at the forearm due to me thinking that I was much younger than my years playing volleyball. Dr. Shah re-attached it and the recovery was smooth and complete. In 2010, I tore my left medial meniscus in my knee while bowling. I went back to Dr. Shah and again the results were excellent. He advised me that I have a fair amount of arthritis in that knee so to be aware that there could be ongoing issues. We introduced a treatment of SyncVisc not long after surgery and I have not had any issues since. In 2012, I re-injured my right shoulder (old on the outside, young in the mind). This time to Dr. Shah. The recovery was long being in an abduction pillow, however, with excellent phyical therapy downstairs, I was back to 100% being able to do anything that I used to in time. I re-injured that right shoulder again 18 months ago while working overseas (fall in my apartment) and now finally getting the time to get at it. Today, from the time that I checked in until I saw the doctor was 8 minutes! When does that ever happen? I will get an MRI to check current level of damage but would not think of going anywhere else for my surgery.

And now I'm in more pain. My clavicle is sticking out of my shoulder making me look deformed. I met with Dr Chin who specializes in my problem he said I needed physical therapy. I met with Clint and Brandon who is in training to be a PT. I also have to say John also made my visits entertaining. Let me tell you, only after 8 sessions my back hardly hurts anymore. It went from being sore all day long and reminded that I'm getting old to NOTHING ........Nothing!!!! For the first time in five years I can actually walk around feeling no pain my whole entire day! Thank you Clint and your whole PT team for making me feel like the 25yr old I have always wanted to go back to and not the 46 yr old I actually am. :) The whole staff here is amazing and so friendly! I am forever grateful for them. I will highly recommend Sterling Ridge orthopedics to all my hair clients that come in complaining of some kind of injury. Thank you!

Saw Dr. Paul Chin, originally diagnosed as labral tear, did PT and Chiropractic, no improvement. MRI revealed spinal isues, referred to Dr. Edmund Choi. More PT and Chiro and recommended Hemilamenectomy. No improvement, elected for surgery March 2024. Dr. Choi supposedly performed the Hemilamenectomy and pain level reduced for a couple of weeks, then came back worse than ever. Continued PT, Chiro and Aquatic Therapy with no reduction in pain. Even tried another injection. Nothing was improving. I ended up getting another MRI and a 2nd medical consult from a Nuerosurgeon who reviewed multiple MRIs (pre and post op) and questioned me as to what surgery Dr. Choi had performed. My new Nuerosurgeon at Memorial Hermann-Woodlands said there was no evidence of any previous surgery in my spine and we were both shocked. Needless to say, I hired the Neurosurgeon to repair my spine which he skillfully completed in August 2024. I'm now 100% pain free and walking well (no thanks to Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics and espcially Dr. Choi). A couple of positive comments re: SRO - Office staff are excellent. Dr. Beukelman is a great chiropractor. All the PT crew were excellent, especially Aquatics with Kristin! I can not recommend Dr. Edmund Choi and suggest getting a second opinion to ensure adequate care. I spent almost a year in debilitating pain because this doctor couldn't fix the problem. A HUGE disappointment...

Dr. David Strausser proved to be an outstanding doctor, first guiding me thru a series of PT sessions before evaluating me for surgery. I developed debilitating pain at nite that began in the hamstring attachment to the hip, then ran down the back of my knee to the ankle. I lay in bed 9 hours to get 6 hours of arrested sleep. The PT sessions continued for three months -- with limited (and temporary) gains. Ten days before the scheduled surgery, Dr. Strausser suggested an epidural injection into the affected lumbar area. His treatment that afternoon enabled me to put the 4-point walker in the closet the next day. It was and still is the single most effective medical experience in my life. Surgery was rendered unnecessary by the success of the injection. Not only did his therapy deliver a prompt and comparatively complete cure, but Dr. Strausser advised me on appropriate exercise and stretching routines to keep my spine limber. "Use a recumbent bicycle and take up swimming in your workouts" were his words. His knowledge extends to protective measures in how to use the back, not just avoidance of injury. I regret taking 3.5 years to write this note, but for readers with similar sciatica problems, my long measure of cure confirms the success of the Strausser Method. Michael S. -- The Woodlands

The first rule of medicine is supposed to be "first, do no harm." Unfortunately, that principle…read moreseemed completely lost at this office. (Edit: I should specify this was with Dr. Shatby's office.) My primary care doctor referred me here after an X-ray came back negative for bone break/fracture. My PCP believed I likely needed an MRI and evaluation by an orthopedist. Before the appointment, I confirmed my referral had gone through, provided all my information, and was told they were only missing the X-ray results. They gave me a fax number, I contacted the imaging center, and had the results faxed over. Problem solved - or so I thought. I arrive for my appointment only to be told the doctor refuses to see me without the actual x-ray imaging files, despite already having the radiologist's report. Instead of explaining this requirement beforehand, the receptionist immediately tried to push me into getting another X-ray done right there. Her response? "Don't worry, it's only a $10 copay." That completely missed the point. I didn't 't care about the copay. I care about exposure to unnecessary ionizing radiation and unnecessary repeat imaging when my PCP already believed the next step was an MRI. Why was I being asked to repeat an X-ray I literally just had done less than a week before? Hmm... I declined the repeat X-ray, drove all the way back to the imaging center, obtained the DVD myself, and brought it back to their office the same day. I had to actually get a physical DVD because this office also does not have any method in place for receiving digital records such as x-rays. OK, so let me get this straight: their office REQUIRES the original images, but yet they have NO WAY to receive such images except for an antiquated DVD, and if someone does not have said DVD, then they require them to get NEW images, coincidentally done at THEIR facility, or else the Dr. won't see the patient? Does that seem appropriate to you? Finally, after all that effort, I was then told the doctor had already left for the day. So they wanted to reschedule me for the following week. To make matters worse, they charged me the co-pay for the appointment, which I am disputing. They are also trying to bill my insurance for the appointment even though I was never actually seen (disputing that also). The entire experience felt less focused on patient care and far more focused on funneling patients into in-house imaging. Maybe there's a perfectly innocent explanation (I doubt it), but when a patient is pressured to repeat x-ray imaging they already completed, despite a specialist referral specifically for an MRI evaluation, it raises serious concerns, to say the least. Patients are not just billing opportunities. Repeated radiation exposure may be "small" each time, but it is cumulative, and unnecessary exposure is still unnecessary exposure. The complete lack of coordination, communication, and respect for the patient's time and SAFETY was unacceptable. Stay far away. I will not be returning.

I don't feel like a number in his office as I have in many other dr offices where I have waited an hour in the waiting room and then over an hour more in the actual patient room before seeing the dr who comes in quickly says hi and then basically leaves. I got in quickly to see Dr Fisher and he immediately sat down across from me and started a conversation with me about my knee. It just felt like we were old friends. I never felt rushed and felt completely comfortable asking him any questions I needed knowing he would answer them honestly with years of experience. I need both of my knees replaced at the same time due to my job, and while no other Dr I've heard of would even entertain this, Dr Fisher said that not only could it be done but that he had done it before! He did however explain the added risks, recovery time, added complexity of the dual knee replacement PT, and added pain which of course I greatly appreciated unfortunately even though I'd prefer to do them separately I just don't have that as an option. My right knee is the worst as I had an ACL removed in 1984, but found out 12 years ago that the dr that did the surgery also accidentally removed my meniscus also, so I've been bone to bone since 84. The left knee has been used to compensate and therefore also may need replacement. After getting an X-ray done quickly in his office Dr. Fisher told me the left one may be ok for now so since he already knew the right one needed replacement he only ordered an MRI on the left one to see if surgery was even necessary. I appreciated this as a one knee MRI will be much cheaper for me than both. I will update this review after my surgery. This is not the first time that I've seen Dr. Fisher. I also saw him once earlier last year before I had 5 discs fused together in my neck from a car accident. My neurosurgeon wanted to make sure the pain in my shoulder was from my neck and not an additional problem in my shoulder. Dr Fisher was who he recommended and I was glad he did! He did an inter office X-ray and in office observation and testing to determine that my shoulder was sound so I could continue with my neck surgery. I remembered then how professional he was, how he spoke on my level where I could understand him, and never talked down to me as some doctors do. I told him there on the spot that I was going to need knee replacement soon and that once my neck was done I'd like him to do it. Normally I research surgeons extensively before making a decision of who I will let cut on me, but I knew when I met Dr. Fisher that there would be no one else that I'd ever let do it but him. See Dr. Fisher and you will see EXACTLY what I am talking about. He is truly one of a kind in every way! Thank you sooo much Dr. Fisher for taking the time to visit with me, explain all of my options, be honest enough to even explain how painful this is going to be, and honoring the decision that I made on how I'd like to proceed. I've seen sooo many different doctors throughout my entire life many who were very good like the world renowned neurologist I've seen for 50 years, but NEVER have I seen anyone who holds a candle anywhere near you when it comes to honesty, integrity, compassion, thoroughness, and quality of care than you! I'm soo blessed to have found you! If you're having any kind of joint problems see this guy as he's truly the Best! As you can see I don't leave many reviews so when I do it's either amazingly good or horrifically bad usually the latter. Dr. Fisher is BEYOND AMAZINGLY GREAT!!!
